Categories : Western variety | Stall / Warung | Sweets/Snack

Wanna to munch on some light snacks because your mouth simply just craving for food to eat? There you go! Hot & Roll will satisfy your taste bud by serving you something sweet and savory.

Having opened plenty of outlets nationwide, Hot & Rolls offer a wide variety of treats for you to choose from including Crispy, Parantha and Chapatti wrap. They aims to serve something that you can enjoy anytime and anywhere, hence while you are halfway through your shopping you can always having either sweet or savory treats to replenish your energy.

My favorite would be their sweet crispy banana chocolate wrap. They skillfully spread one spoonful of the flour paste on the cooking pan and let it sear until golden color. After that, the ingredients such as banana and chocolate sauce are added on the wrap and you are almost ready to enjoy it.One whole banana is added to the crispy wrap.

The wrap is super crispy as they make it really thin, you won’t be able to taste the starch of the wrap. The wrap itself is kinda tasteless but when you eat together with the sweet banana and chocolate sauce, it will get you hooked!

Besides, if you opt for some savory wrap, I would recommend you to try their chicken floss parantha, fluffy parantha combines with slightly salty chicken floss, taste surprisingly good as well!
The portion is huge so definitely worth every penny you spend. Besides, they always draws queue and you might need some patience to wait for your order to be served.

The portion of nacho pallet is super generous! Crispy nacho pair with different kind of condiments gives you a hint of sourness and spiciness, perfect combo I would say! It can be shared among 4 to 5 pax as the size is really huge.

If you visit the place between 3pm to 5pm, you should go for their tea time promotion set. By ordering their cake of the day, you can get a free cuppa of coffee or tea. The sweetness of the red velvet cake is just right, the sour whipped cream on top balances out the sweetness of the cake. For sure this will get your sweet tooth cravings satisfied.

Free cappuccino comes together with the cake. Sipping down the aromatic coffee slowly and let the fragrant of the coffee to linger in your mouth and throat. The quality of their coffee is above average.

Overall, you can get a really pleasant dining experience over here, without leaving a hole in your pocket. It would be an Ideal place for you to just sit down and unwind.

Best Wan Tan Noodles Smile May 15, 2016
Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam

As a Malaysian, we would always go to roadside mamak stall for our late night supper. However, the foods at mamak stall are usually oily and heavy. How about something light such as Wan Tan Noodles for your late night supper?

Chop Beeng Cheong restaurant, located at Kampung Lapan nearby Tun Tuah High School, they serve really authentic bowl of Wan Tan Noodles at night. The shop is flooded with lots of foodies even at late night.

Malacans always refer this kopitiam as 摇头云吞面 (head-shaking wan tan noodles) as the uncle chef always shake his head when he’s cooking the noodles, how adorable!

Unlike the usual wan tan noodle which is black in color, the noodle from this restaurant is served in white color. They didn’t add black soy sauce to their dish, hence able to keep the most original taste of the noodles.

The wan tan noodles is served with minced pork, char siew, wan tan soup and pickled green chilies. What I like about their noodles is the noodles do not have any alkali taste at all, it’s super thin and chewy.

Remember to eat your noodles together with pickled green chilies because the green chilies act as one of the most important condiment for the dish. Springy noodles with a hint of sourness and subtly spiciness totally win my heart.

You might want to try their oyster fried as well. Comes together with lime, spring onion and coriander leaves. The fried is really crispy, but it didn’t lose its moist completely. The oysters are really fresh also; however it would be better if we can find more fresh oysters in one plate. Considering the price; the oyster fried is still worth trying.

Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam | Noodles

When it comes to breakfast, many of us love to go for western kind of Big Breakfast as the first meal to kick start the day. We would usually think about those hipster café whenever we talk about big breakfast. Instead of splurging 20 bucks at café for a meal, we can actually enjoy a good plate of big breakfast at kopitiam, only at RM5.50 per plate, does this sounds attractive?

Soon Yen kopitiam, located at Jalan Tengkera Kota Laksamana, a spacious kopitiam that occupies two shop houses, besides typical hawker foods, one of the food stall there serves western breakfast as well!Breakfast set. Comes together with two pieces of toast (served in four pieces), sausage, hams, baked beans, cucumber slices, tomato slices and a sunny-side-up, which are almost similar to what can be found in normal Big Breakfast set from café.

The toast is super crispy, oven to slightly brownish and golden color; you can pair them with ham and sausage to make your own sandwich. For me, I would poke the egg yolk and dip the deep-fried toast into the watery egg yolk, the sensation is perfect! Not to say superb, but definitely above average.

Top view of the breakfast set, they do really nice plating isn’t it?! This breakfast set will supply you the nutrition you need and act as an energy boaster for your brand new day. Most importantly, you can get this huge plate at only RM5.50, worth every penny that you spend!

Moreover, this food stall serves different kind of sandwiches as well, includes ham egg sandwich, sausage egg sandwich, egg sandwich and plain toast, ranging from RM1.50 to RM3.50, they have French fries at RM4.00 as well!

If you are looking for some tradition breakfast, this chee cheong fan will be your another option. With fried shallots sprinkle on top, the silky cheong fan is stuffed with fresh prawns and drenched in soy sauce, a light breakfast that will satisfy your taste bud.

They have snacks such as this Goh Hiong, serves with bean curd, fish pastes and cucumber slices, tastes quite good also!
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so ditch your habit of skipping breakfast and visit Soon Yen Kopitiam to enjoy their Big Breakfast!

Ideal place to hang out OK May 13, 2016

Categories : Western variety | Café | Steaks / Chops | Burgers / Sandwiches | Noodles

There’s a lot of café located at Kuchai Lama and if you are looking for a place to hang out with your friends, Food Talk will be your good choice as they open until midnight 2am.

The café occupies two shop houses so it’s really spacious; they have unique decorations such as inspiring quotes, doodles and pictures. Most importantly, besides food and beverage, they provide card games for you to play with your friends.

Kam Hiong Fried Rice, the rice is fried to golden color and serves with spring onion, tomato slice and cucumber slice. The taste is average, nothing really special but the portion is enough to fill up your tummy.

Nutella toast. The toast a bit failed to meet my expectation though, the picture shows it supposes to have Nutella chocolate sauce drizzle on the top of the toast, but it came out without the sauce.

The toast is served with butter cream, maple syrup, and Nutella sauce sandwiched inside the toast. First few bites are good but it gets sticky and greasy after that, you might need to consider sharing with your friends instead of finish it by yourself. Besides, it’s a little bit overpricing for a simple toast like this.

However, FoodTalk will be an ideal place to hang out if you are looking for a café to chit-chat with your friends during unearthly hour when most of the restaurant is closed.
