Yummy Marble Cake Smile Feb 15, 2016

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Noodles

Lunch hour has pass, finally I have time to sit down for lunch. Again, cracking head wonder what to eat today, Cozy Corner or Shyet-Li Kopitiam. Taking the elevator up to second floor, when I pass by Kopitiam, I spotted Marble Cake was placed at every table. Yes, I want to eat Marble Cake which I have not been eating this for ages. Moreover, the waitress offered me to reheat the marble cake, why not, it taste better if it is eat hot. Besides that, I have ordered their signature Nasi Lemak with Chicken Rendang and Coffee as well.

While waiting for the Nasi Lemak to be served, let me savour the Marble Cake while it is still hot. Wow, soft, fluffy, light buttery flavor and lightly sweeten. It is gives a taste of traditional flavour. Indeed yummy!

Here comes the Nasi Lemak, standard condiment such as hard boiled egg, peanut, anchovies, cucumber, sambal lastly Chicken Rendang. Upon serving, you can smell the rice was full of coconut aroma. Whereby Chicken Rendang features a rich, thick coconut gravy that gives meat a delightful texture and flavour. The best thing is I was given drumstick which tastes even better.

As for the coffee, they are using local ground coffee, dark and thick texture. Overall taste is average.

Sushi Jiro has been shortlisted in one of the Openrice article- 10 Best Budget Sushi Places in Klang Valley! What not give it a try!

Sushi Jiro is located at second floor of Mid Valley in front of Excel View Optical Shop. it was Thursday Dinner time, the restaurant was fully occupied and I have waited for 15mins in order the table to be ready. Upon arrival, you will notice that the promotion poster was placed at the entrance. Clearly written “RM2.99 per plate if you eat more that 5 plates”, that’s a great bargain if you eat those raw fish such as Salmon or prawn. Anyhow, 2 pax is easily to eat more than 5 plates.

For your information, preserved Ginger is available at the conveyor belt, you can take whenever you want. I’m pretty hungry today and I want something hot and satisfying, thus Chicken Bone Broth Ramen RM12.90 would be my best choice. After waited for 15mins, my Ramen was served. The Chicken Broth was light and sweet, Ramen was springy and cook to perfection. To me, the Ramen was tasty.

On the side meal, I took few plates of Sushi to munch with. Tamago Mentai Mayo RM2.99, is an ordinary Tamago slice with mayo on top. Taste was quite average.

Chuka Chinmi RM2.99, this is my favorite sushi. Taste is on my liking.

California Maki RM2.99, taste is just average.

Edamame RM2.99, average portion and lightly salted.

Overall the taste of foods are average, however, the price was reasonable. I will be back again to try other food.

Breakfast Smile Feb 12, 2016

Categories : Chinese | Café

A Saturday morning, I wanted to have my breakfast at Ikea Café however the foods they served was not appeal to me therefore I drove to One Utama instead. In fact, I have no idea what to eat until I pass by this shop seeing a queue in front of the shop. Without any hesitation, I have joined the queue. This is my first visit and I did not know the existence of the shop either.

They offer quite a wide selection of Nyonya Kuih, pre-packed Noodles/ rice, cakes etc. I have picked a packet of Nasi Lemak, Dumpling and Teh Tarik which cost me RM11.30. No idea what is the price breakdown just feel a bit pricey though.

Nasi Lemak was barely warm, comes with standard condiments such as peanut, hardboiled egg and anchovies. Taste was pretty average but the sambal was not spicy at all. To those who did not take spicy sambal, this would suit them best. Unfortunately, I love spicy food.

Chinese Dumpling with turnip filling, the dumpling skin was soft with generous filling. It was taste good and I have finished all 4 pieces within a second. No sharing allowed please.

Teh Tarik, served hot with thick milky smell and smooth. However, the tea aroma was very light this is because the milk flavour was overtook the tea. Taste like Susu Tarik rather than Teh Tarik. Overall is still acceptable.

Best Lap Mei Fan in town Smile Feb 05, 2016
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood | Noodles

I never heard of this restaurant before. I came to know this through my friend sharing about the “Best Lap Mei Fan” in town about a year ago. Therefore, I have decided to pay a visit to Elegant Inn to try the Lap Mei Fan this time. The restaurant is located at Level 2 of Menara Hap Seng KL.
I have arrived at 7.30PM and the restaurant was very crowded therefore I was escorted to a private room which I have booked a week earlier. In fact, I pre-ordered the dishes one day in advance as well. Then I just sit and wait for my dish to be served patiently.

As usual, Yee Sang (RM7.50) was the first dish to serve. The Yee Sang was given a nice name “Bountiful Harvest Salmon Losang” per their menu. The ingredient they use was different to other restaurant like what you can see from the picture. In short, it was extraordinary and tasty Yee Sang.

Next, Golden Boneless Stuffed Chicken with Chicken Tomato Salad (RM98.00). To me, this is a special dish. The fish paste was layered under the chicken skin then pan fried it to achieve the crispiness of it. You will find the Tomato Salad been placed as a side dish which they are using balsamic vinegar to tossed it. Indeed a tasty and good combination though.

Double Boiled Lion's Mane Mushroom Soup 猴头菇(RM168) , this was highly recommended by the Restaurant Captain which only available during Chinese New Year and limited supply per day. The highlight of the soup is the mushroom they cooked is rare in Malaysia. The first sip was really impressed me, it was light and sweet. The Captain emphasize that it is MSG free. Frankly speaking, this is really worth a try. Thanks for the recommendation.

Signature Golden Fried King Spare Ribs (RM26.80 per piece), I enjoy eating pork ribs and I have ordered this to satisfy my taste bud. The ribs were crispy outside and tender inside. It was well marinated and deep fried into golden brown colour. Another thumb up!

EI Signature Stir Fried Bitter Melon with Salted Vegetables (RM32.80), my friend has order this vegetable as she said is hard available out there. The bitter melon was full of ”Wok Hee” and it goes with the Salted Vegetable. This is the first time I had this. Great job!
(Ops...busy eating, forgot to take picture)

Lastly, Claypot Rice with Sausage & Waxed Meats (RM116.60), I have been waiting for this to serve. I like the way to cook the rice, first the rice was sauce-free. They are using the waxed meat oil to toss the rice. It was so fragrance and the rice chewy too. I believe they are using both glutinous rice and jasmine rice to cook it there you can feel the texture of it. I can say the best Lap Mei Fan I ever tried thus far.

To end my meal, I have ordered some dessert which also recommended by the Captain.
Black Sesame Glutinous Rice Ball in Fresh Almond Cream (RM14.80), usually most of the restaurant will be using frozen Glutinous Rice Ball to cook the dessert. However, this dessert was made to order. They made from scratch from Glutinous Rice Ball as well as the Almond Cream. The Almond Cream was thick and cream, luckily is not too sweet.

EI Steamed Custard Cake (RM19.20), first time tried this. They pan fried the Custard Cake then drizzle with coconut cream. I love this very much. The custard cake was soft and tasty.

Pan Fried Traditional Rice Cake & Hazelnuts Cookies (RM19.20), this dessert is only available during Chinese New Year. The Rice Cake was not too sweet and soft. If you like the Hazelnut Cookies, you can purchase it from the restaurant and is available for sale.

Lastly, Japanese Pumpkin Cream (RM16.80), thick, creamy and smooth.

To conclude, I enjoy eating at this restaurant. The service was good. Foods are fantastic too even though the price is on the high side, I definitely will come back again for more.

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood | Dim sum

How could we miss Yee Sang during Chinese New Year?! Well, this is my Lou Sang in year of Monkey and me and my friend decided to dine at Spring Garden Chinese Restaurant @ Tropicana Golf & Country Resort. Somewhere quite and ample of parking bay available. We managed to get a private room this time and have a quick order as we are hungry.
This restaurant serve two types of Yee Sang, choice of Classic Yee Sang and Fruit Salad. Anyway, I would still prefer Classic one. It came with Abalone and Salmon slices. It was really yummy!

Shark Fin Soup (individual serve), piping hot soup in milky white colour which boiled for long hours. The soup was tasted light and sweet, I can find pieces of fish maw in it. I’m loving it!

Upon dishes were served, I have ordered white rice to pair with the sumptuous dishes.
Nestum Softshell Crab, this is consider medium size Softshell Crab chop into half, deep fried with batter and Nestum for final coating. The Softshell Crab was crispy outside and soft inside, yet filled with the aromatic of Nestum and butter. Thumb up!

Marmite Chicken, deep fried chicken with Marmite coating. It was a flavourful dish and Its goes well with white rice.

Claypot mixed vegetable, this is a vegetarian dish which comprise of glass noodles, Black Fungus, Mushroom etc braised with Oyster Sauce. Indeed a flavourful and tasty too.

Overall, I am satisfied with all the above dishes. Also, the service is good too.
