There are so many burger joints that have been mushrooming all around town and names like Burger Lab, Junkyard Burger and others are not foreign to food lovers. Fat Boy's The Burger Bar is also not foreign to those who have been chasing burger joints.I had the chance to try out Fat Boy's at Avenue K when I was at KLCC to check out PICOM Fair 2014. Have not had the chance to check out Avenue K and was surprised to see another shopping place next to the Putra LRT Line. *Sorry noob since just came back from Kelantan*Saw the sign board for Fat Boy's next to the exit of the Putra Line and since the boyfie is a huge fan of anything sandwhiched between two buns, we decided to go and have a try after having a nice exercise going through the PICOM fair. This Fat Boy's outlet is located at the 3rd Floor of Avenue K and you won't have any trouble looking for it as the signs at Avenue K were very helpful. Since it was pretty late at that time *roughly 10 pm* there weren't much people at Avenue K.

We went straight up to Fat Boy's and browsed through their menu before deciding to have their Wimpy Burger. Too bad they were out of beef patties so we went for their lamb. We had quite a hard time choosing which burger we want to try out so the waiter recommended either the Fat Basterd (Double Patties) or the Wimpy. Since it was quite late, we just went for the Wimpy. The owner of the outlet gave us a complimentary Chicken Macaroni Soup on the house since we were the only and last patron for that night! *thumbs up* The soup was really tasty, slightly similar to our Chinese chicken soup but with a slight touch of vinegar and the addition of macaroni. The soup was really heartening and appetizing!

Our Wimpy burger which consists of a choice of patty, streaky bacon, cheddar cheese, fried egg and homemade Fat Boy's BBQ sauce on a sesame bun! It is served with thick cut fries which were crispy on the outside and super fluffy on the insides! I would prefer the egg to be slightly runny but overall the burger was really tasty! It was really filling even though me and the boyfie shared the burger.

Japanese meal @ SushiZanmai Smile Mar 20, 2014

Went to Sushi Zanmai at Paradigm Mall for dinner with the family. As usual, there was a huge line outside the outlet and looking for a parking space on a Friday night was really tiring. However, since sis was back for the weekend so we went out for dinner.

As usual we ordered what we normally ordered which are...

Well actually this was the first time we ordered this but sis said it was super tasty so we tried it and yes it was amazing. Totally love the combination of egg omelet and the sauce on the top smile

And this is what I normally order to lie to myself that it is a healthy diet. Haha. But I totally love this huge bowl of salad with sliced raw tuna and salmon. You can opt for three different types of sauce but I normally order the Zanmai sauce as this is the sauce that my family likes.

This oyako-don is what my mum and sister ordered to share. 6 pieces of large succulent oysters in tempura flour on a bed of white fluffy Japanese rice with plum pickles.

Soft shell crab maki is also what we normally order as mum needs her share of soft shell crab whenever we go to Sushi Zanmai. LOLs! But seriously the soft shell crab is so delicious that we never fail to order it

And this is another soft shell crab maki but with avocado and the mentai sauce. I can't recall its name but I think it is the Dragon Roll? Anyway, the creamy avocado and the total combination of this roll is just amazing!

Overall a great dining experience at Sushi Zanmai!

Nostalgic moments @ FatSpoon Smile Mar 18, 2014

Went to Damansara Uptown to fetch mum to the clinic and after the doctor's appointment, Mum decided to give us both a treat at Fat Spoon! Been hearing raving reviews about the food and the decor at Fat Spoon so it's time to visit it myself!

We were welcomed with the signboard of fat spoon and the exterior of the restaurant was really inviting!

Firstly the interior of the area was really cozy with dimmed lights and they really make use of utensils from the past to bring us down memory lane. The dining utensils holder was really cute with strips of comic for patrons to read while waiting for their meal.

Look at this unique tiffin carrier which has motives on the exterior and also the books that they placed at the counter once you enter the premise.

Moving on to the food! Mum read in the AEON magazine that it is a must to try their spicy soup beef macaroni and their passionfruit crepe. So what else! Of course we tried it! We also tried their mini hot chocolate which is actually kid sized but full of omph!

Firstly the spicy soup beef macaroni! It looks like a small bowl but trust me it took me and my mum to finish this bowl of spicy goodness! It is not overally spicy but just nice! If you find it not spicy enough you can add the additional paprika that they serve together with the macaroni to give it more kick!

Next our hot chocolate! When it came both of us laughed at the size of it! It was super duper mini and cute! But don't look down at this hot chocolate! Priced at roughly RM 4 it was so chocolatety and delicious! Even my mum who is not a fan of ordering drinks said it was tasty!

Lastly our dessert of the day! Yummy passionfruit with vanilla ice-cream on a bed of crispy crepes! It is additive and the sourness of the passionfruit really blends well with the sweetness of the ice-cream *thumbs up*

Overall it was a great experience at Fat Spoon athough the prices may be a bit high but it is normal for the area around Uptown Damansara since the rent is super high smile

Best Set Meal@Next Stop Station Smile Mar 18, 2014

Was looking around for a suitable dining place to have lunch with the family when we saw that Next Stop had a number of patrons. The dishes on the menu looked interesting so we decided to have our lunch there.

Couldn't really make up our mind on what to eat so at last we decided on the set lunch which comprises of one pork dish (home-style/pumpkin/marmite), tofu and vegetables (kailan/kangkung) for 2/3 pax at just RM 29.90! We chose the pork cooked in pumpkin sauce and also kailan. Not only that we ordered a pot of tea at just RM 4.50. There are several flavours for the tea which is red dates/ginger/green tea/apple/peach/mango/etc. Since mum was not feeling well, we chose the ginger tea. The tea came really fast and it was quite a huge pot. The ginger was well incorporated into the tea and it really helped my mum's cold.

Next we waited for our meal and we saw the table next to us ordered the same set as us but with different pork dish and the portion was really huge smile In just 10 to 15 minutes, the dishes arrived.

First the pork dish which was the spare ribs cooked with pumpkin sauce, lemongrass, curry leaves and cili padi. The dish was so aromatic and we couldn't wait to dig in! They also served us three plates of rice and a big bowl of wintermelon soup which was included in the set meal. Please keep in mind for the 2/3 pax meal, they will serve you either 2 or 3 plates of rice depending on the number of people eating.

Next came the tofu which was silky smooth with fried shallots and spring onion doused with loads of soy sauce which was slightly sweeter compared to the conventional soy sauce.
Kailan cooked to perfection with garlic and oyster sauce

The kailan came next and it was cooked to perfection with tons of garlic and fragrant oyster sauce. It was not overcooked which I hate and was still crunchy *thumbs up* The set meal is really worth the money you pay and can really feed three people sufficiently! So what are you waiting for? Head on to the nearest Next Stop Station and try out their other dishes! The portion that they serve for their ala-carte can really feed two people!

Korean Food Heaven Smile May 09, 2014

Categories : Korean | Café | Burgers / Sandwiches | Noodles

After so many times of not being able to try out Namoo @ Publika, I finally had the chance to have a nice Korean lunch last Friday with the colleagues! The cute mascot of Namoo welcomed us at the entrance of the cafe bistro and we can't wait to try out their dishes!Firstly, some background on Namoo smile Namoo which means 'tree' in Korean was founded on a deep-rooted belief that good food should be fresh, natural and timeless. And for that reason Namoo have gone to great lengths to ensure that everything in the menu is authentically korean, but fused with a modern twist! The interior of the cafe follows their name which is using earthly colours and materials. It has a very comfy ambiance where you can choose to sit at the high table, the dining area or even the sofa area. You can even choose to dine al-fresco where they have an outdoor dining area next to the playground. This is very convenient especially for parents who want to bring their children where you can monitor them at the playground/park smile There are a variety of dishes at Namoo ranging from their Rice Burgers, Pastas, Bibimbap, Western and also their desserts! My colleague ordered the Bulgogi Pasta which is so AWESOME!! Although a bit too sweet for us, the portion of beef bulgogi was so much! Namoo is super generous with their ingredients and I couldn't stop picking at the beef bulgogi! Yummy!!

Meanwhile, I ordered the Bibi Rice Burger. The rice patties/buns were grilled nicely with bits of seaweed to give it a nice fragrance and I love the charred bits of the rice buns! The Bibi Rice Burger comes with salad and fries.

Another colleague ordered the Omurice which is rice wrapped in omelet and topped with sweet chili sauce and fried prawns. I felt that the sauce was a bit too much and would prefer they not being too generous with the sauce which caused the prawns to be slightly soggy and sweet

Meanwhile, we also ordered the Spicy Seafood Pasta which again Namoo was generous with their seafood. It was not as spicy as we hoped it to be and again the sauce was sweet

And the star of the show arrived! The King's Bing Soo. Always saw this in Korean dramas and had wanted to try this since I knew it was available in Namoo. So of course we would order this. Love the multigrain powder that they sprinkled on the ice-cream and the chewy rice cakes! The fruits were relatively fresh and sweet and we practically finished the whole jug!
