Simple Life is a chain of restaurants in Kuala Lumpur offering vegetarian meals which are organic, natural and most importantly, nutritious. Its menu offers interesting dishes such as include Lei Cha with Brown Rice, Ginger Extract with Brown Rice Mee Sua, Vegetarian Nasi Lemak, Curry Laksa and Popiah.

In here the restaurant adhere to the following regimes when preparing the dishes:
1) Serve foods with natural and organic ingredients which are pesticide-free.
2) Use brown sugar in cooking instead of refined sugar, which can cause indigestion.
3) Avoid using coconut milk for cooking curry. Replace with cashew nut powder which is similar in taste.
4) Cook with extra virgin coconut oil.
5) Highly recommend Brown Rice/ Noodles/ Vermicelli to customers.
6) Using natural seasoning, alkaline water and avoid using MSG, colouring and preservatives.
Organic Lei Cha

Organic Lei Cha

Organic Lei Cha 有机擂茶 (RM16.90)
Usually this dish is served with all the chopped vegetables on top of the plain rice. The version here is served with multi grain rice. I like that the vegetables are served in separate bowls so that I could choose the vegetables that I like better. It is also better as we are sharing as a group.
Vegetarian Assam Fish

I never realise that vegetable is used to replace the fish instead of the usual mock fish. It is so tasty.
''Kong Poh'' Lion's Mane Mushroom

"Kong Poh" Lion's Mane Mushroom 宫保猕猴菇 (RM19.90)
The mushroom is crunchy and tasty.

Mini Steamboat (Organic Black Beans/ Miso/ Burdock Soup/ Tom Yam Soup) 迷你火锅(有机黑豆汤 /味增汤 /牛蒡汤 /东炎汤) (RM20.90)
We have ordered this in Miso soup base. The serving is quite huge and soup is refillable. I never have a vegetarian miso soup that tastes so nice, not too salty but still very flavourful.
Organic Black Bean Soup with Brown Rice Ramen

Organic Black Bean Soup with Brown Rice Ramen /Brown Rice Bee Hoon /Brown Rice Mee Sua 有机黑豆糙米拉面汤 /糙米米粉 /糙米面线 (RM13.90)
We have ordered this in Brown Rice Ramen version. The soup looks milky but tastes great. It looks a bit plain compared to other dishes.
Multi Grain Rice Nasi Lemak

Multi Grain Rice Nasi Lemak (with organic coconut oil) 有机椰油五谷饭 (RM14.90)
It is cooked with extra virgin coconut oil, with Sambal made from carrots and cabbage, it is both spicy and delicious, resembling the usual Nasi Lemak. It is interesting that no mock meat is used in creating the rendang and the cripsy anchovies.

I like that pickled papaya is added on top of this local fruit salad. It makes it tastes much better than the real thing.
Malacca Nyonya Chendol

Malacca Nyonya Chendol

Malacca Nyonya Chendol 马六甲娘惹煎堆 (RM5.90)
The dessert take quite a long while to arrive. The version here is not bad, although I prefer the shaved ice to be less coarse.
Fresh Mixed Fruit Tea

Fresh Mixed Fruit Tea

Fresh Mixed Fruit Tea 新鲜水果茶 (RM15.90)
Served 2 - 3 persons.
The drink is served with tiny cups. It is served hot. It tastes thick and rich, with a fruity taste. It is like drinking a hot version of fruit juice.
Peaceful Mind Juice

Peaceful Mind Juice

Peaceful Mind Juice 心境舒缓蔬果汁 (RM8.90)

It is light and refreshing.
100% Fresh Dragon Fruit + Pineapple Smoothie

100% Fresh Dragon Fruit + Pineapple Smoothie

100% Fresh Dragon Fruit + Pineapple Smoothie 纯正新鲜龙珠果+凤梨冰沙 (RM9.90)
The smoothie is very thick and rich in texture. Interesting that no milk is used here.

Overall the food is delicious. It is rare to find a restaurant where no processed vegetarian products is used in asia. The meal makes one feels healthy as it is made of natural and healthy ingredients. The only problem we have is the long waiting time for the food to arrive. Can't wait to come again to try other dishes in the menu.

At the top floor of the shopping mall, there is this popular chinese restaurant. The restaurant is quite huge and seats quite a big number of customers. There is a birthday party which occupied half of the restaurant when we arrive at the restaurant. Yet the restaurant is so big that we are not affected by the noise.

The rib is quite tender and well flavoured, although there is barely any sauce to go with the meat.

(RM4.24/ piece)
It does not look like bean curd to me when served. Its texture is as smooth as bean curd, but there is also a crunchy and meaty texture to it. I suspect there is water chestnut, crab meat and minced prawns added to the mixture. It is a very tasty dish.
Braised Duck and Braised Chicken

The staff recommends this dish which is only available on weekends. As we cannot decide between chicken and duck, we decide to have half serving of each. The dish takes quite a long while to be served. The meat is very tender, juicy and well flavoured.

Simple looking but tasty dish.

It looks simple but is well cooked without being too soft or hard.

Overall the dishes are great. Service is not bad too, with tea refilled often. The only problem is the long waiting time between each dishes.

Long queue OK Jun 10, 2015

The restaurant is very well known at Batu Caves area. This restaurant has a policy where one can only place 1 order at per table (which means no reordering of food if one find that the ordered food is not enough).

The restaurant only operates from 8.30am to 3.30pm daily and is closed for 2 days per month. The restaurant is located at the end of a row of shophouses. It is open-air with simple looking chairs and tables around.

The restaurant is packed when we arrived. There is a long list of people waiting for tables. As most of the tables available are for small groups and we are in a big group of 7, we end up waiting about an hour for a table.

We are given a number tag (which will be given to the staff when our order is taken), when a table is available for us. There is no menu given and we could only order based on the staff's recommendation, which is basically what most tables are having.

Although the weather is extremely hot, we have Hot Tea (RM11.50+) with ice cubes to keep cool as that is what most tables are having.

Stir Fried Sweet Leaves (RM18+)
A simple vegetable dish. We feel the vegetable used here is a bit old, based on the color of the vegetable. Quite disappointing.

滑蛋河 Cantonese Style Hor Fun (RM18+)
Single serving in vegetarian style with no garlic, onion and spring onion. Quite smooth and rich in texture.

Porridge (RM15.40+)
It is served with sliced fish and century egg in it. The porridge is very smooth and creamy in texture, while the fish is very fresh and smooth too.

Pork Meat Bee Hoon (RM21.20+)
It is a very simple and traditional dish of stir fried stewed pork belly with bee hoon. The pork belly is quite tender and does not taste jelat.

Fried Pork Meat (RM29+)
It is deep fried pork belly marinated in red fermented beancurd. I feel the version here is not very good as it lack of crispiness outside. Another point is that I would prefer it to be served with the porridge, instead of after finishing al the other dishes. The porridge would be a good balance to the strong taste of the fermented beancurd taste in the pork.

River Prawn Hor Fun (RM120.85+)
It is served with 3 pieces of the famed giant sized River Prawns, which each of us get half piece each.

The prawn is quite huge in size, filled with lots of roe in the shell. The gravy is rich and luscious, while the noodle flows smoothly down the throat.

Besides these dishes, the restaurant also offers a variety of swiss rolls and pastries over its counter.

Overall the food is not bad, but I feel that it is quite expensive to dine in here. One would think twice of making a trip all the way to this ula ula place, suffers a long waiting time and follows by a delicious in a hot and humid place.

Located at the first floor or WOLO Hotel, is is this classy looking bakery cafe. It is a 2 stories cafe with the second floor reserved for hotel guests.

Besides offering a great variety of breads, pastries, cakes and bottled drinks, it also offers a selection of hot dishes over the counter. There is free wifi in the cafe. Just remember to look for the password which comes with the number tag when one places order over the counter.

For breakfast , there is
Breakfast Set A

Breakfast Set A

SET A
A combination of scrambled egg, chicken sausage, grilled tomato, and baked beans, served  with a slice of sour dough and a side salad. It comes with a cup of coffee or tea.
A big breakfast with everything in it.
Breakfast Set B

Breakfast Set B

SET B
Lightly toasted crossant filled with scrambled egg and chicken sausage, topped with mustard mayonnaise and served with grilled tomato. It comes with a cup of coffee or tea.
It is quite messy to eat but taste not bad.
Egg & Soldier

Egg & Soldier

Egg & Soldier (RM13.90)
Soft boiled egg, blackrice pulut pan bread & breadstick
Most feel that this is the most overpriced dish as it is just bread and egg. Can easily be made at home.
Wolo Egg Benedict

Wolo Egg Benedict

Wolo Egg Benedict (RM13.90)
Poached egg & turkey ham with hollandaise sauce in between toasted english muffin. Served with a slice of beef bacon & a side salad.
I am a bit disappointed when the egg yolk does not flow like lava when being cut open. Overall still not bad.
Banana Ricotta Cheese French Toast

Banana Ricotta Cheese French Toast

Banana Ricotta Cheese French Toast (RM14.90/ 2pcs)
Rich & delicious french toast with caramelised banana.
Everyone agrees that this is the best dish of the meal. The simple toast is flavourful and yummy. But it is also the one which takes the longest time to be served.

Cheese Mushroom Omelette

Cheese Mushroom Omelette

Cheese Mushroom Omelette
(RM18.90)
Sauted mushroom, choice of beef bacon or turkey ham, onion, spinach & mozzarella cheese egg omelette with a side salad.
Moist and creamy inside.

Also order Cafe Americano (RM6.90) and Green Tea Latte (RM11.90) to go with the meal.
Green Tea Latte

Green Tea Latte

The green tea latte kinds of reminds me of the Starbucks version. It tastes thick and sweet on its own.

Overall the food is great and the place has a kind of relaxing feel, even when it is located in the busy noisy city area. Great for one to pop by when one needed a break.

Lunch under a tree Smile Jan 27, 2015

As my brother-in-law knows that my father likes fish head, he decides to bring the family to dine here for lunch. The restaurant is located under trees, with no frills decoration around. Just very used tables and stools around. Interesting it is surrounding by rows of terrace houses. It is not located by the main street, yet there is a lot of people dining in there.

Although we reach the restaurant around 1pm, a number of dishes such as the Steam Herbal Coconut Chicken Soup have already sold out. The place has no air-con. To refill tea, one has help yourself to the hot water cooler, which is located in the middle of the place.

Menu is a simple 2-sided paper.

Cheong Cheng Steam Fish Head
The sauce tastes a bit spicy and reminds me of bean paste. The fish is quite meaty and juicy. Never expect such a big fish head for small serving.

Soya Sauce Steam Fish Head
Similar to the above dish, the fish is meaty and juicy. The sauce here is much lighter.

Crispy Chicken Wing
Very crispy and juicy inside.

Salted Fish with Pork Belly in Claypot
The meat is flavourful but fatty.

Sweet Potato Leaf
I feel that it is a bit too oily.

Overall the food is huge in serving and tastes great. But waiting could be long. The service is also a bit sucks here. One of the dishes which we have ordered but is never served, even after we have finished the fruit. But the staff has billed us for the dish when we ask for the bill. It is quite difficult to get the staff to correct the bill and lot of time being wasted. It leaves quite a bad taste in the mouth.
