Lunch under a tree Smile Jan 27, 2015

As my brother-in-law knows that my father likes fish head, he decides to bring the family to dine here for lunch. The restaurant is located under trees, with no frills decoration around. Just very used tables and stools around. Interesting it is surrounding by rows of terrace houses. It is not located by the main street, yet there is a lot of people dining in there.

Although we reach the restaurant around 1pm, a number of dishes such as the Steam Herbal Coconut Chicken Soup have already sold out. The place has no air-con. To refill tea, one has help yourself to the hot water cooler, which is located in the middle of the place.

Menu is a simple 2-sided paper.

Cheong Cheng Steam Fish Head
The sauce tastes a bit spicy and reminds me of bean paste. The fish is quite meaty and juicy. Never expect such a big fish head for small serving.

Soya Sauce Steam Fish Head
Similar to the above dish, the fish is meaty and juicy. The sauce here is much lighter.

Crispy Chicken Wing
Very crispy and juicy inside.

Salted Fish with Pork Belly in Claypot
The meat is flavourful but fatty.

Sweet Potato Leaf
I feel that it is a bit too oily.

Overall the food is huge in serving and tastes great. But waiting could be long. The service is also a bit sucks here. One of the dishes which we have ordered but is never served, even after we have finished the fruit. But the staff has billed us for the dish when we ask for the bill. It is quite difficult to get the staff to correct the bill and lot of time being wasted. It leaves quite a bad taste in the mouth.

Seafood Lunch Smile Jan 27, 2015

This seafood restaurant is quite popular with the family. I have been here before at night where there is valet parking service. But in the day, there is no such service. Even the main dining hall is not lighted up when we reach the restaurant. In fact besides our group, there is only another group of customers in the restaurant.

We have

Stir-Fried Spinach,

Crispy Calamari in Honey Sauce,

Baked Oysters in Cheese,
Chilli Crabs (2 pieces of crabs),

Curry Crabs (2 pieces of crabs),

Sweet & Sour Pork,

Tofu with Minced Meat Sauce,
and

Braised Tofu.

Overall the servings are huge and delicious except for the sweet & sour pork. The sweet & sour pork tastes a bit tough to bite. The prices are not cheap, the meal costs over RM500. But the service is great. Tea is refilled regularly.

The staff brings us boards, mallets and claw crackers to crack the huge sized crabs. But in the end the staff decides to do it himself at the next table.

Midnite Supper Smile Jun 11, 2014

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Dim sum

Interestingly this restaurant starts business from night and ends around next day noon. The staff will bring around the whole range of dim sum in a big round tray for you to select. After selection, they will steam warm the dim sum before serving to you.

The must have here is the chicken coop pau 鸡窝包 (RM4.80). It is shaped like a chicken coop, and stuffed with rice, chicken, chinese sausage and mushrooms. It is big in size compared to the usual paus. Very yummy and tasty.

Expensive RM2 a piece

Also have other assorted dim sum such as Har Gau 虾卷 (RM3), Custard Bun (Liu Sha Bao 流沙包), Bacon Roll.

Finished with a Almond Jelly Longon for dessert.

The restaurant is located in the middle of a row of shophouses. Quite small in size. The variety in the menu is quite attractive, even for a non vegetarian like me.

The Menu

As outside is raining very heavily, we are kind of been stuck in the mall. After walking past all the restaurants in the shopping mall, we decide to stop here for dinner as Father feels the menu here looks the most attractive. We are showed to a booth seat table, which is quite comfortable and big.

Fresh Fruit Tea (Hot)
Orange, Green Apple, Lemon, Red Tea (RM12.90)
Serving is huge. Taste fruity and sweet, with lots of fruits in it. Feel healthy after drinking it.

Mini Coffin-Toast (RM8.90)
Apple Curry Chicken, Mix Bean Chicken
Wait for awhile for this dish as it seems that the kitchen has forgetten about it. The apple curry chicken combination is a quite unique one and tastes like Japanese curry with cunchy apple.

Taiwanese Braised Pork Burger (RM3.90)
The pork is well braised and very tender, with a melt in the mouth texture.

Mini Wok Seafood Set in Chicken Soup (RM15.90), served with rice
The serving is huge with vegetables overflowing. Well flavoured soup.

Sesame Oil Chicken Rice Set (RM18.90)
The chicken smells great and is very tender and flavourful. The set comes with mochi, pickled vegetables and soup. The soup tastes rather bland when compared to the mini wok seafood.

Crispy Soy Fish Rice Set (RM15.90)
Similar to the sesame chicken set, it is served with mochi, pickled vegetables and soup. The crispy soy is very nice and goes very well with the fresh sliced fish.

We have the plain rice change to minced meat topped rice. The minced meat is very flavourful. Just having it with plain rice is very good.

Bonsai Ice Cream (RM3.90)
Vanilla Ice Cream, topped with crushed oreo cookies
A simple ice cream dessert but very well presented.

Snowy Ice - Assorted (RM8.90)
There is a lot of cut fruits such as strawberry, kiwi, and mango, and we could barely finish it.

Overall the food is very tasty and reasonable priced. Service is quite fast despite the place is quite packed.
