Spicy Salad fallen from grace Cry May 01, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Restaurant | Pizza/Pasta | Ice Cream / Froyo / Gelato

Once upon a time, the Spicy Salad at The Salad Bar was on of the best things to have there. Now, it's terrible. First, the sauce - it's supposed to be spicy, nutty, and thick; sort of like a creamy satay sauce, but not so oily and with more balsamic vinegar flavour. Now it tastes like oil which has flavourless spiciness. Not only is it completely flavourless, but it's lacking texture. On top of that, I find that the amount of sunflower seeds is less, and the chicken is significantly less - I used to have lots left towards the end of the meal; but now I don't have enough to finish the veges with.

Since the new owner bought over this place, it looks nicer but food has taken a terrible tumble. The original legacy dispelled the perception of salads being bland and boring; but it would seem the new one revived old negative perceptions.

Face to face no taste Cry Jan 01, 2012

I love pan mee, and I thought I'd at least get a decent meal at this supposedly famous pan mee shop.

First of all, service is slow and terrible. When I finally made my order and got served (eventually), the noodles were completely tasteless. It tasted like eating raw flour with salt. There was hardly any ingredients in the noodles, and not even any sweet leaf soup! How can it be pan mee when it's just powdery flour dough and salt?

Furthermore they kept taking away my condiment tray because they didn't have enough. The waitress couldn't even understand that I was STILL USING IT to cover up the extremely tasteless noodles. huffy

Ended up I couldn't even finish my meal (very, very rare thing for me - it means the dish is completely inedible). Almost wanted to leave without paying, but I reluctantly paid anyway.

I'll never understand how they got famous. I will never dine here again.

Marron Nama Chocolate OK Dec 31, 2013

This is one of the limited edition available few months ago. With alcohol, this was one of the sweeter nama chocolate that I bought for myself. Personally I like more bitter one as this would make me feel muak after awhile. It actually took me 1 month plus to finish this whole box.

Wantan mee OK Dec 31, 2013

Wantan mee here is salty, wet, and plentiful. The char siew is quite abundant but not melty. Flavour is sweet and meaty, but overall I still prefer my meat to be chunky and melty,

Wantans are decently sized, slurpy, and big. Quite filling and decent.

Tender Chicken Rice OK Dec 31, 2013
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant

This chicken rice stall does serve some good chicken rice. The texture of steamed chicken was very tender, best go with the homemade sauces. The sauce was spicy, made with halia, which gave a spicy note to the whole dish. Rice was nothing to shout about. Overall, it was cheap and good.
