Chuka Idako OK Jul 27, 2012   (Related Review)

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Buffet

This portion of Chuka Idako (seasoned baby octopus) looks pretty pathetic but it was from a buffet so it does not really matter. This is a single portion. I do think that it makes ordering a hassle as we had to ask them to collect our menu (to order) many times and they take quite a while to reach. The octopus is fresh and crunchy while the sauce is a little sweet and the sesame complimented it.

Tom Yum Ramen OK Jul 25, 2012   (Related Review)

The Tom Yum Ramen here costs RM 10.90 but comes with quite a number of prawns, squid and crabmeat. Obviously, it is spicy and tastes like tom yum. Hence, no condiments were added as the taste was enough. Although the squid and prawns were alright, the crabmeat was probably spoiled as it was sour. Noodles were not up to my expectations either (kinda soggy and overcooked). After complaining, they have since improved.

Enter the shop and you will be greeted by the friendly staff. Opt for a wooden booth seat or table and stools.

I was delighted to find many big pieces of beef in my bowl and that they tasted good. They weren't overcooked nor tough to eat. Soup is more murky and tasted 'meatier' than some of the others like the Hokkaido Ramen and even the Cha-Shu Ramen. Opted for flat noodles but personally I prefer the round ones.

Curry Ramen OK Jul 25, 2012   (Related Review)

I consider the Curry Ramen to be an affordable meal since it has meat, half an egg and vegetables at only RM 7.90. The soup was spicy enough without needing to add anything but it was pretty average tasting. Meat and vegetables were cooked well enough. Not only is the food here affordable, so are the drinks! I've been to places that charge RM 10 for Coca Cola which is absurd! On my previous visit I had blackcurrant soda and this time I had Hot Lemon Tea. Both are quite nice despite the price. Soda wasn't too sweet and it's not some regular Ribena with water.

Cha-Shu Ramen OK Jul 25, 2012   (Related Review)

This ramen shop in SS2 is relatively quite new. I have already been here 2 months ago but it was a bad experience and I complained on their Facebook page. After fixing the problems, they contacted me to go back for a complimentary meal (kudos for that).

I honestly think even the food looks tastier and more appetizing this time. A bowl of Cha-Shu Ramen is quite affordable at RM 8.90 (it has 5 big pieces of meat!). The cha-shu wasn't great (not enough taste) and the soup wasn't as 'clear' as some others. Saved by adding the provided condiments on the table though.
