Rojak Smile Jan 21, 2013

What I like best is that the staff here are very friendly and efficient. I normally take away as there aren't many seats here and the flies hover at your feet (strangely only at your feet, not on the tables). Rojak's great; not too oily and each piece is crispy brown. They're generous with the veges and provide a whole egg (sliced into half). You can add on sotong or have a taste of their cold desserts (ABC, Cendol and Cendol Pulut) as well.

Bak Kut Teh Smile Jan 21, 2013

This bak kut teh stall is only open for dinner (starting in the evening). It's at the same shop as the famous Maybank nasi lemak (Bumbung). Service is great and food is served fast, piping hot. The soup is flavourful and not too salty. Most of the time it's alright but sometimes it can be too oily for my taste. Have never had a problem with the meat since you order what you want. If you dine there, the food is served in a claypot with all the ingredients inside. Not the best but certainly something I would have again.

Yummy tong sui Smile Jan 21, 2013

They have a number of desserts (tong sui) sold here but I chose my favourite, the Black Glutinous Rice Dessert. Surprisingly, it was chocked full of black glutinous rice instead of the watery dessert I usually find outside. It wasn't too sweet at all and had the perfect amount of santan added. Wasn't over boiled as the rice is still whole and was delightful to chew on.

Icy dessert Smile Jan 21, 2013

Decided to takeaway and they provided a very sturdy container which kept my dessert icy cold all the way home. Service here is good and the place is brightly lit.

Desserts here are customized as you get to choose the toppings and base. The cincau ice here is honestly nicer than *another* famous place but I dislike how to they serve the grass jelly in huge slabs. Taro balls had a stronger yam taste but felt they were too hard.

Poon Choy OK Jan 21, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Hotel Dining | Dim sum

So we were here for their RM 688 poon choy set. I had expected something layered which is how a poon choy should be like but this one looked like everything was cooked then dumped into one big pot with the same thick brown sauce. The ingredients included oysters, mushrooms, sea cucumbers, fu chuk, pacific clams, goose legs, chicken meat and more. Although the sauce was a delight to have with the rice, it smothered the taste of everything in the pot causing everything to taste the same! Wouldn't return for this. You're better off with the RM 388 set which excludes sea cucumbers and oysters. Honestly, I preferred the chewy pacific clams over the almost tasteless soft oyster.
