Superb Italian dinner Smile Apr 24, 2014

Categories : Italian | Restaurant | Pizza/Pasta

This is one of the dining place that you should not missed when you are at Sabah.

Although I only manage to try two of their dishes, those culinary were awesome.

My friend and I ordered one large lemonade, one ravioli spinach with quattro formagi (four types of cheese)  and one zuppa di mare (seafood soup only which comes together with garlic bread; you can add on spaghetti to complete the meal).

The combination of spinach ravioli with cheesy topings had been such a wonderful dish that I had whallop all until the last drop of cheese on the plate. What about the zuppa di mare? Wow, I was in a total awe when I took the first sip of the soup. Superb! The garlic breads served were aromatic and not too hard to chew.

Quench your thirst with the original lemonade from Little Italy. Should you wonder why I ordered large lemonade? It was to share, though. However, if you would like to have large lemonade for yourself, it is not too bad, as the large volume is not really a lot. Perhaps about 12-14oz.

I would definitely re-visit this place for more authentic Italian foods when I am at Sabah. Must visit Little Italy, and you would not regret it. Just bear in mind that it is always congested and full house around dining time. To avoid disappointment, you might want to walk in earlier.

Authentic fruit juice/ice blend Smile Apr 24, 2014

The best drinks that I can find in Tanjung Aru food court from Stall no 6.

I had been too disappointed with the food served at Tanjung Aru food court especially the grill seafood were not as good as I had though.

However, stall no 6 is the reason which I will revisit Tanjung Aru food court, if I ever visit Sabah again.

Stall no6 served a variety of fruits juice and ice-blended, also great choices of ice-kacang.

I had choosed 4 types of fruits juice blend which they put in layer by layer to create the illusion of rainbow colour. The lady boss is superb and she is kind enough to allow me to change my drink at the last minute because I wanted to try something different. One of the best seller is avocado ice blend with ice cream.

The lady boss's mum is sitting in front of the stall, and both my friend and I had manage to interview the old lady, and she had mentioned that she is much grateful for all the support from local and tourist whom fancy their drinks. She also mentioned that one of the great food reviewer from Hong Kong had advised them to keep the variety of fruits juice/ice blend that they are serving, and do not cheat with mixing water to dilute; but to charge accordingly to preserve the authentic fruits juice/ice blend.

Thumbs up for Stall no 6.

Tom Yum Prawns Smile Apr 24, 2014

Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam | Noodles

Went into this coffee shop after half day window shopping at Gaya Street.

Drove over there at about 2.30pm and thank goodness that the tom yum stall is still open and available.

My friend and I did not order for tom yum noodles with prawns, we ordered without noodles just to savour on the tom yum prawns. The prawns served were fresh and one must be wondering that the tom yum heavy flavour must had cover the prawns freshness; the tom yum was nicely done with no extra spicyness but with flavourful tom yum taste such as lemon grass taste, lime leave aroma and not to forget the prawns sweetness.

Should try their tom yum prawns. It was one of the unforgetable food that I had had at Sabah.

Lunch OK Apr 28, 2014

Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam

Once arrived at Sabah, my friend and I called an old taxi uncle whom we called him as Uncle Siao. He is a very kind taxi driver whom is willing to bring us to eat at Restaurant Kuo Man.

Each of us ordered a different type of meal, uncle with his beef stew dry tuaran mee, my friend with mix fish fillet with dry tuaran mee, and lastly me with mix pork with dry tuaran mee.

I was not impressed with the mix pork dry tuaran mee, as the pork taste too porky to me. I do not have the exact word to describe the porky taste, but I can be sure to tell that the pork smell had covered the whole freshness of the soup. The intestine however, taste good and I am not a fan for kidney, so, I could not comment much on it.

I did not try the beef stew either. Therefore, I could not chip in my opinion for the beef stew. Somehow, my friend and Uncle Siao said the beef stew was awesome, and smooth. For those whom can have beef, you might want to have a try.

The killer for all these 3 types, was the mix fish fillet dry tuaran mee. The tuaran mee seems ordinary for me, although I must admit the chillies together with the tuaran mee was good. The fish fillet served were all fresh, you do not have the stinky smell of rotten fish meat taste when you take the first bite. The soup was filled with the fish essence. Worth to try the fish fillet mee. (Quite expensive though, just be prepared)

Century egg dumplings Smile Apr 25, 2014
Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam | Noodles

I insisted to visit this kopitiam after a terrifying breakfast at a shop near to this Sandakan Kopitiam.

Ordered to take away century egg dumpling and also stuffed bean curd (fu-pei guen). The century egg dumplings were great! Personally, I dislike century egg, because of the smell and the taste is hard to take. However, this century egg dumplings had diluted smell of century egg, and with the aroma of wanton skin and minced pork meat. Must try this century egg dumplings.

The stuffed bean curd seems too meaty for me and my friend. Lack of bean curd taste and aroma, which makes one seems like having steam minced pork meat (Jing yuk beang). Maybe it will taste better if dip with the chilli sauce.
