I had J.Co donuts before in Bandung and Bali, Indonesia where the donuts originated and I remembered them being super light, crunchy and cool simple glazed donuts that is maintains its delicious crunchiness even after air travel (so good I had to da-pau some back).

The donuts I had in this J.Co branch in Cheras Selatan had these strange waxy after-taste, perhaps from low quality oil they fry them in? It's not as crunchy and tasted day-old. The Mango Blitz tasted better but has an artificial taste to it too.

The drink that I ordered its Chocolate Freeze which tasted very artificial and cheap too, but the price tag is certainly not cheap but you get a free glazed donut with purchase of a drink.
I will give J.Co a try again, but not in here in M'sia tongue

Worst Salad Ever! Cry May 29, 2012
Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Steaks / Chops | BBQ

The title of this review is contributed by my boss, who marched to the server with his plate of sad salad to complaint but the food never improved. They have lunch set that is RM13, including a can of limited choices of soft drink or mineral water.

The food portion is small. The fries are sometimes crinkled and sometimes shoestrings and always oily and the chicken dry. The briyani rice is sometimes served in bowl shaped and sometimes piled on the plate.

The raita yogurt is watery and the prata wrap looked depressing. The puri is flat and oily. But the worst is it's salad. They called chopped lettuce, sliced raw cabbages and diced cucumber with no dressings watsoever (you get some diced tomatoes if you're lucky) salad. Somebody call the food police!

The mint and tamarind sauce is so watery it poured onto your place and the bottles that they used are recycled and moldy-food poisoning looking.

The food here had so many misses, I'm wondering why I'm still eating here once every three months (some of the pictures shown is what I took when I ate with my colleagues, I certainly didn't eat 6 bad plates of food'. The lunch choices here in Plaza Mont' Kiara is super boring, I hope I don't have to eat here again please. MSG level is low.

Old Skool Wan Tan Mee Smile May 29, 2012

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Noodles

One of the place to dine at Petaling Street that is not swamped by tourists. We walked along a very busy street to enter this quiet shop. There is only another diner, an aunty. It's been quite a while since I've eaten here, just wanted to check if the quality is maintained. tongue

The criteria of a good plate of wantan noodle for me is its melt-in-your-mouth- sweet-charsiew, al-dente thread thin noodle that is very stringy not soggy covered with lards and sweet dark sauce, wantan soup with minimal white pepper and a dash of chopped spring onions and thinly sliced cili jeruk (pickled green chili).

I've tasted better char siew but its noodle is still quite nice. Almost like wantan mee that I had in HK, if it's a thread thin. The noodle is still crunchy despite being soaked in soup for some time. The wantan is just okay.

For a plate of medium dried wanton mee, a medium bowl of wanton noodle soup and 2 glasses of ice barley, I paid RM16, which is quite pricey but okay for a touristy place. I miss Ipoh, where I can have a plate of wantan mee at RM2.8 in First Garden but that's another story. MSG level is medium low.

Protip: If you wanted a slightly cleaner place, can go to Koon Kee at the food court opposite. It's run by the same people.

Salty Pasta Cry May 29, 2012
Categories : Western variety | Food court | Pizza/Pasta | Steaks / Chops

This place used to serve okay western food but now the quality has degraded. The pasta is too salty and the bottom of the egg is burnt. The bacon is not crispy and very oily. The side cucumber is so dry, it shrunk and tomato is soggy and tired. Avoid parting your RM7 with this plate of forgotten food. MSG level is medium high. sad

Tasteless thick waffle Cry May 29, 2012
Categories : Café

Avoid this place because it took more than 20 minutes for them to make a terribly thick, soggy and tasteless waffle. The servers are not local and they are quite clueless when it comes to ordering, they checked with me 3x to confirm that I want vanilla ice-cream. huffy

Overpriced at RM7.5

I ordered a lemon cupcake too. The cupcake is okay but expensive for RM4, I would rather pick Cupcake Chic’s cupcake which is just behind the stall. The cookies that they are selling (free tasting available) are rather tasteless and boring too, I can bake better! Seriously, just avoid this place.
