Aneka Penyet Smile Jan 31, 2012

Pick drumstick or wings and watch them dump it into the fryer. Few minutes later, the cook put it on a flat mortar and flattened (penyet) it with a pestle. Top it up with some crispy bumbu and serve with fiery sambal and a side of fried tofu, tempe, raw cabbages, cucumber and tomatoes and a free bowl of sourish vegetable soup. Yum!

I like to eat my ayam penyet with lots of sweet dark sauce ( kicap manis) instead of fiery sambal. The sweetness of the dark sticky sauce really compliments with the crispy chicken. Love it!

Apart from ayam penyet, they have lele penyet, ikan bakar, kerang bakar, gado gado, bawal goring and many more. Perfect place to lunch for budget travellers who's visiting Central Market ( Pasar Seni) who would like to try eat Indonesian food.

LemonGrass Chicken and Drink Smile Jan 31, 2012

Categories : Thai | Restaurant | Seafood

One of my favourite places for Thai Food in MidValley.

BBQ Lemongrass Chicken and Green Curry Chicken is my favourite lunch set. The BBQ Lemongrass chicken is highly seasoned and has the strong and delicious charcoal flavour of an outdoor grill. The watery chili sauce dip enhanced the taste of the chicken. The portion might look small but it’s just nice for me once I ate the pulut rice wrapped in banana leaves.

Green Curry Chicken is smooth and quite rich with coconut milk with no basil and not spicy, yay, because I really dislike the taste of basil. It will be nice if the green curry chicken has vegetables like cabbages, carrots and eggplant in them too, like how I make them lol

Their lemongrass drink is nice too, just a delicate hint of lemongrass. I like lemongrass, but I can’t stand too strong lemongrass taste. I’ve tried their dessert before too, which is quite nice and fresh, good for sharing lol

Mee Sua and Crispy Chicken! Smile Jan 31, 2012

Categories : Taiwanese | Café | Stall / Warung | Noodles | Juices / Bubble Tea / Tea / Yogurt

Craving for Ay Chung Rice Noodles (Mee Sua) Here’s a place that you can enjoy rice noodles that almost taste the same like the famous rice noodles from Taiwan. Our noodles are Xiao Bar Wang has thinner broth and lacked of pig innards (replaced by fried pork nuggets that we enjoyed more) but still tasty when eaten piping hot and with spoon just like how it’s supposed to be.

The fried chicken cutlets (Crispy Chicken) are not as big piece as those in Taiwan but the taste is almost same like the one Ji Guang Fried Chicken I had in Ximending, Taipei. Not heavily spiced and the crispy but yet tender chicken cutlets are so addictive! The herbal tea egg is mediocre though. Their black sugar lime tasted good too even though as the one I had in Dansui had stronger black sugar taste.

This Taiwanese Street Snacks place is worth checking out!

Best tomato chutney ever! Smile Jan 30, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Indian | Restaurant | Banana Leaf

My favourite place ever for thosai because of it’s super delicious tomato chutney that is only served at this place. It’s sweet yet tangy and has just a little bit of tomatoes skins. Maybe it’s the poppy seeds inside that got me so addicted. The tomato chutney is delicious with thosai, on roti canai, with vadai or as sauce on just about anything served there. Just banjir (pour till overflow) and dig in! Yum!

Apart from the thosai and roti canai, the banana leaf rice and mee goreng here is quite nice too.

Taro Balls! Smile Jan 30, 2012
Categories : Café | Desserts

This place is quite same like Snowflakes, with the UFO disc, steel spoon, pricing and types of dessert served except that they have green bean ice where Snowflakes is just grass jelly ice. I like Ice Bowl more than Snowflakes, the taro balls tastes nicer and the green bean ice is more flavorful and my favorite toppings are egg pudding, taro balls, pearls and I will pick on new ingredients to try. Perfect on a hot day smile
