Dry Curry Mee Smile Aug 12, 2012   (Related Review)

I've always loved the curry at Ginza which is their signature dish. There are several variations to try either with rice, noodles or just on its own. The Dry Curry Mee was especially good. The noodles are wantan mee which are thin and goes very well with curry. Their signature curry has indian spices and taste just right without being too spicy and is creamy and smooth. There is chicken and potatoes cooked in the curry and these were tender and meat is juicy and flesh easy to chew. Add all these to the mee and they have a winning combination.

Singapore Meehoon Smile Aug 12, 2012   (Related Review)

One of the stir fried noodles I tried at this restaurant is the Singapore Meehoon. The typical singapore stir fry means frying the noodle until it has absorbed the sauce. The meehoon still retains some moisture and each strand of noodle is completely coated in the sauce which was nicely marinated. The ingredients were generous with chicken, onion, lettuce, taugeh and egg omelette strips fried with enough heat to give them that extra oomph.

The decor at this restaurant is quite simple and there was air-conditioning. There were quite a lot of options in their menu from stir fried noodles and rice to dishes you can order to go with rice.

Usually I would go there for lunch on workdays for a quick meal. Their Cantonese Fried Yee Mee is quite good. The yee mee noodles is a fried noodle which are dried and sauce is poured over it upon preparation to make this noodle. The sauce has generous portions of chicken slices, vegetables, prawns and squid which are quite well flavoured. The gravy is further thickened with beaten egg - it tasted a bit salty but when combined with the crackling dried yee mee, it gave it the flavour needed to balance the noodle's bland taste.

Curry Rice

Curry Rice

One of the signature dishes at Ginza is its curry. So I ordered the curry chicken with white rice to try. The curry is tasty with hints of spices done in indian curries style and although it was spicy, I could still enjoy it because the gravy was quite tasty. It was smooth and just thick enough so that the gravy is ample to go with white rice. The chicken pieces were accompanied by potatoes which were boiled to just a tender consistency and absorbed the curry well. This is really worth giving a try.

Bestseller Smile Aug 12, 2012

Whenever I go to Snowflake, I would order the Bestseller; Grass Jelly with Taroballs, Peanuts and Pearl (Hot). I prefer hot version because the grass jelly would start to solidify once it cools and I really like the texture which is soft and springy. And since I love taro (yam), adding taroballs is just wonderful for me. The taroballs is chewy and springy too but there isn't the heavy taste of yam as in savoury dishes so it is quite nice in a dessert. The final touch is the pearl which is the bouncy little balls of tapioca flour which goes very well with the other ingredients. But I do find that Snowflake desserts are a tad too sweet for me especially after I finished it and the sweetness remains til long after. A little bit less sweetness would be just nice for me.
