Dinner time @ Le Porc Dor OK Aug 02, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood

Thanks to Groupon deal, mum and I get to eat at Le Porc Dor in Old Kland Road for a dinner meal at a cheap price. We got the meal for two people at RM 19.00 instead of RM 32.00. But the portion given for each dish is quite small. According to them, food in Le Porc Dor are cooked without adding MSG which is good because this means we can eat healthily over here.

Winter Melon Barley Soup
I liked the barley bits in the soup but the soup taste weird. It is like those soup being kept overnight.

Chinese sausages with steamed chicken and black fungus

The steamed chicken was steamed into a soft texture. I do not need to use force to remove the meat from its bone. The sausage were quite fragrant. Nice to eat with plain rice. The combination of chinese sausage with chicken actually tasted quite similar to "loh mai kai" also known as glutionous chicken rice.

Steamed pork slices with yam

The yam slices were cooked into a very soft texture. Just the way I like. But I find the taste is quite salty and the pork were quite oily with a layer of fat on the surface of the pork, without much meat on the pork slices.

Vegetables

The vegetable used is choy sum. A very simple vege prepared by blanching in hot water and added with some oyster sauce. I actually enjoyed this dish because it is not oily at all. Indeed a healthy way to detox all the oily dishes above, especially the steamed pork slices with yam.

Ole-Ole Bali is one of the restaurants under the Bali Bistro Group which brings the elements of Balinese casual dining. Ole-Ole Bali restaurants can be found in Sunway Pyramid, Solaris Mont Kiara, and Empire Subang. My friens and I had the following 2 dishes at their Sunway Pyramid outlet.

Sate Lilit (RM 16.00)
Sate lilit is actually a type of Balinese cuisine which consisted of minced mixed seafood paste sate and served on a Lemongrass Skewer. The sate can be eaten together with either Sambel Matah and Sambel Terasi as both of those sambals were served. Each stick of sate cost RM 4 as only 4 sates were given. Quite pricey for a stick of not so big sate. Er....I don't really like this dish because the seafood paste is too soft and taste wise is so so only, slightly spicy.

Chicken & Chips (RM 28.00)
This dish came with a big piece of deep fried boneless chicken, fries and a small bowl of homemade brown gravy. The dish is pretty ok because the chicken is really crispy and the meat is tender and juicy. But I have tasted better fried chicken elsewhere. After eating all the fattening fries and chicken, we washed away the oil in our tummy by eating the accompanying apple sesame coleslaw and watermelon.

Besides the food we ordered above, we also ordered the following drinks:
~ Blended Pulut Hitam.....RM 12
~ Blended Honey ..... RM 11
~ Iced coffee.....RM 8
~ Blue Hawaii....RM 11

Lunch @ Ole Ole Bali Smile Aug 01, 2012

Before we enter the real working world, my friends and I went to Ole Ole Bali @ Sunway Pyramid to meet up.

Following are the food we ordered:Mixed Green Salad (RM 10.00)

This healthy salad consisted of a mixture of Fresh Vegetables, Hard-Boiled Egg, Fried Shallots and Deep-Fried Tofu. The dressing used is the Spicy Lemongrass & Shallot Dressing. One of my friend could not stand the spiciness of the salad but it was fine for me....hehe........

Siap Megoreng also known as Balinese Fried Chicken (RM 28.00)

As can be seen from the picture, the Siap Megoreng's portion is really big, so please share with friends unless you are super hungry. The dish came with nasi kuning, sambel matah, sambal terasi and half-chicken prepared by deep frying. The dish was also served with Rempeyek (Anchovy Crackers), Lawar Kacang (Beans Salad) and Sauteed Kangkong. I like to eat the marinated crispy chicken with both the sambal as the sambal were very good and spicy. It really excites my taste bud. But the chicken is a bit dry if eat without dipping into the sambal or other sauces. The nasi kuning is also nice to eat with the sambals.

Ninja Meal OK Aug 01, 2012

Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Burgers / Sandwiches

Ninja Joe (founded in 1999) is a fast food chain which specialises in pork burgers according to the Japanese concept. Currently, they have outlets in The Gardens Mall (Mid Valley), 1 Utama Shopping Mall, Sunway Pyramid (Next to TGIF), Setia City Mall and Tropicana City Mall. I got the following from their Tropicana outlet to eat as my supper:

Cute little container to fill up the Shuriken (RM 4.90)

The Shuriken is 4 sided star shaped resembling the little weapon used by ninjas. A total of 5 pieces of Shuriken were given, about RM 1 each piece.

Shuriken is actually pork nuggets with mashed potatoes. Basically, the nugget consisted very little pork meat as it is mainly made of potato and tasted more like french fries. It is best to eat it while it is hot because after leaving it cold, the batter will be soften, not crispy anymore.

I also had their Super Ninja Burger (RM 6.90)
The Super Ninja has a piece of grilled pork patty, a fried egg, cheese, lettuce and tomato slice in between 2 pieces of buns.

Patrons are given a choice of 6 different flavors to choose from: Original, Oriental, Sweet & Sour, Teriyaki, Black Pepper and Spicy. I tried the burger with black pepper sauce. The black pepper sauce is just slightly spicy, just right for my liking.

The lettuce layer....

The burger is quite tasty when eaten together with all the ingredients. The buns were nice when soaked with the mayonnaise and lettuce dressing.

The meat patty part

The meat patty was fragrant and tender.......thumbs up..........

Chicken Cheddar Cheese OK Jul 31, 2012
Categories : Western variety | Stall / Warung

Just as the name suggest, Just Pie is a place which sells a variety of pies. Among the pies available are Chicken Slice 'N' Mash, Chicken 'N' Mushroom, Black Pepper Chicken, Beef Steak 'N' Cheese, Lamb Parmesan and Curry Lamb pie. Previously, I have tried their lamb parmesan pie which is quite good. The meat was juicy covered in parmesan cheese.

As for this round, I tried their Chicken Cheddar Cheese pie at RM 7.00 per piece.

Beautifully baked chicken pie....

The inside of the pie which is filled with loads of chicken meat cubes and cheddar cheese. Although the chicken meat taste good, but it is not cheesy as there isn't much cheese in it. Would be better if they have added in more cheese. Having said that, the pie's pastry skin is quite tasty with a slight sweet taste. But I find the skin is too thick.
