Ice Bowl Smile Aug 11, 2012

Categories : Café | Desserts

Ice Bowl is one of my favourite dessert shops after My Honeymoon dessert house. It has a very simple interior with lots of local and Hong Kong desserts.

I had a douhua (tofu pudding) with mango dessert. The smooth texture of pudding when paired with the crunchy chunks of mango is simple yet delicious. Most importantly, it is sweet with natural fruity flavour. Very enjoyable tea there indeed.

Botanical  Smile Aug 10, 2012

Botanical is a cafe at Bangsar Village 2 with white furniture and bright surrounding, which reminds me of Gardens or Full House. But here they promote vegetarian diet, but the menu is so extensive and not boring at all.

I order a huge Mushroom pie which comes with raw vegetables. The pie has a very flaky croissant-like layers which are served hot. And the melted mushroom chunks and gravy in it are very flavoursome, yet not too salty. It serves as a great brunch for me!

Korean BBQ Smile Aug 03, 2012
Categories : Korean | Restaurant | BBQ | Group/Family dining

At Myung Ga, everything from service, to presentation, to quality of meat, reminds me of a Japanese BBQ place. I can sit on tatami comfortably with my friends while enjoying the BBQ with some white rice wine.

Complimentary Pan Tan

As a tradition in Korean restaurants, our starter is preceded by the side dishes (more precisely known as "Pan Tan"). It comes in 8 generous choices, and their waiters are more than pleased to refill each time we finish it. Most side dishes are quite light, not so rich in taste. Even the kimchi is quite mild, not so sour but retains a good sweet spicy taste.

Jokbal Stemed Pig Feet (猪蹄) @ RM55

I rarely take swine, but this is delicious although it is quite heavily salty. Very nicely done for the firm meat, and it is not fatty as well! Best to wrap the meat and kimchi in lettuce so that it blends a taste of sweet, spicy and salty flavours.

Decanter Smile Aug 03, 2012

Decanter is a great place to chill out with friends! The good thing about this restaurant is that it opens until 12 midnight. This is because I have encountered numerous experiences with many restaurants which close at 10.30pm or 11pm, and the waiters will eventually rush us (the customers) to leave as soon as possible, some even show their impatience by taking away the half-eaten food. How rude it is!

Indonesian Fried Rice @ RM 10.00

I'm surprised to find that this restaurant serves local cuisine as well. I chose indonesian style, from a choice between local or Indonesian style fried rice with sambal, prawns, squid, sliced chicken with mixed vegetable. It is not as oily and spicy as I first thought. In fact, it is very light, well-balanced and flavourful. Simply not salty for my taste. Very suitable for those who don’t fancy Western food. Delicious!

Si Yau Wong Fried Noodles Smile Jul 31, 2012

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood | BBQ

I love the very cosy ambiance in this outlet at Mont Kiara, although the parking spaces are difficult to find at times.

Si Yau Wong Fried Noodles (鼓油皇炒面) @ RM16

Chinese always prefer rice or noodle to accompany the main dishes, so here we go with this stir-fried noodles with seafood. Soy sauce can be way too salty, but not in Canton Fare. The springy noodles retain the crunchiness despite of being ssoaked into the sauce for a good 20 minutes!
