Hearty Soup at The Loaf Smile Jul 31, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Western variety | Bakery / Cake / Kuih

The Loaf at Paradigm Mall is opened for less than 2 months, but it has been the first choice for patrons when it comes to breads and light meal. This outlet has a bakery and cafe layout, which enables people to sit back, relax and enjoy good food and nice atmosphere.

Leek and Potato @ RM5.00

The Loaf is an environmental conscious cafe, where the soup is served in this recyclable paper cup. Although it may not look appealing to the palate, but the chef's selection of daily market-fresh ingredients is capable to produce a distinctive broth of healthy vegetable soup. The broth is very thick, naturally sweet with chunks of potatoes, and nice aroma from the cuts of leeks. Light yet filling, I love it.

Tuan Yuan Seafood Restaurant Smile Jul 31, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood | Yong Tau Fu

Tuan Yuan Seafood Restaurant is famous for their crabs, with many types of cooking methods, including steamed crab with salt, kung po crab, kam heong crab, sweet spicy crab and more. But the most popular one is kam heong style.

The crabs are really huge and the crab meat comes in a very generous portion. However, the flavours are only on the outside of the crab, while the meat inside remains naturally sweet with not much blend of flavours. Overall, it is slightly salty in a good way, but insufficient sauce makes the crab quite dry.

Good Fortune Country Food Smile Jul 31, 2012

Located deep in Puchong Utama, I did not know that there are so many chinese restaurants in this area, with most of them specializing in fresh seafood.

For a simple dinner, I order this plate of "Dao Fu Gang" (Tofu Platter with Gravy) for the family sharing. The pumpkin gravy is very light, aromatic and sweet. For the bean curd, I am wondering if they made it themselves because it is so soft and smooth. Some toppings of onions are used to add crunchiness for the dish. Very mild in flavour, and healthy! I can easily enjoy it with a bowlful of white rice.

Breakfast at Zende Smile Jul 30, 2012

Categories : Western variety | Hotel Dining | Buffet

Zende Restaurant is the lobby lounge which caters for all-day dining in Seri Pacific Hotel KL. The hotel looks quite new for me after the refurbishment and one night stay in the hotel comes with free breakfast buffet at Zende.

I tried their blueberry pancake, it is freshly bake and I can feel the mushy texture of the dough, stuffed with very creamy bits of blueberries. The melting sauce is warm while served, and I enjoy the sweetness in it. It is very light, and can be taken as dessert by adding a scoop of ice cream. The buffet spread also comes with nasi lemak, noodles, bread, pastry, croissants, porridge and many more, it is a lovely spread indeed!

At the 39 Restaurant, Ramadhan buffet is priced at RM99++ and this is my first time stepping into this business hotel. I'm really satisfied with the many choices in the buffet. Some that satiates my palate are rendang ayam, nasi briyani, gulai kawah masak ikan masin, just to name a few.

Nothing can beat the lemang here, surprisingly it is one of the best I've tried. Apart from the strong coconut milk flavour in the glutinous rice, the flavour is further enhanced by some salt. And a dip into the sweet serunding ayam is simply perfect. The rice is neither too dry nor soggy, with the moist flakes of chicken floss. Delicious.
