TWG Tea Smile Aug 15, 2012

TWG Tea is now one of the most famous places in town for its macaroon. This is my first time stepping into the very clean looking restaurant with beautiful details in English style. The ambiance is excellent, but not the tea set.

I have a high tea set there. Tried their English tea, and I love their presentation but not the tea. As for the cake, it is very gooey but quite sweet for me. Finally the macaroon is the best which delights me, because it has a melt-in-the-mouth texture and very petite sized. Lightly sweet but flavourful enough. The special thing here is, all of the macarons are infused with aromatic tea flavors which makes them healthier in a way without sweetener. I love Earl Grey, Moroccan Mint, and Roses flavours the most. The tea flavour is quite obvious but not overly heavy. Lovely tea it is!

Bar.B.Q Plaza, Times Square Smile Aug 15, 2012

At BarBQ Plaza, I always love the concept of grilling and having steamboat in a clean method, without sweating and having to bear with the smokes like other places. Here it is much hygienic and the set meal comes in a huge portion for meats.

I love to cook the meat 20% raw, so that it can absorb the sweetness from the soup thoroughly while retaining its tenderness. The soup base is quite salty after putting all the ingredients, but overall the taste is balanced up with the chilli sauce.

For my personal taste, I feel that the meat is quite fresh and of high quality. It is tasteless because it is not marinated, so I dip the grilled meat into their signature special thai dark sauce which gives nuances of sweet saltiness. Delicious meal!

Meng Kee Char Siew Smile Aug 11, 2012

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant

Meng Kee Char Siew is famed for its fragrant roasted pork and barbecued meat. I went all the way to Shah Alam very early in the morning just for this and it indeed didn't disappoint me.

The barbecued pork is very sweet and the sauce is really thick and has a melt-in-the-mouth texture. The layers of fatty and lean meat are well proportioned too. Best taken with fragrant rice.

Ice Bowl Smile Aug 11, 2012

Ice Bowl is one of my favourite dessert shops after My Honeymoon dessert house. It has a very simple interior with lots of local and Hong Kong desserts.

I had a douhua (tofu pudding) with mango dessert. The smooth texture of pudding when paired with the crunchy chunks of mango is simple yet delicious. Most importantly, it is sweet with natural fruity flavour. Very enjoyable tea there indeed.

Botanical  Smile Aug 10, 2012

Botanical is a cafe at Bangsar Village 2 with white furniture and bright surrounding, which reminds me of Gardens or Full House. But here they promote vegetarian diet, but the menu is so extensive and not boring at all.

I order a huge Mushroom pie which comes with raw vegetables. The pie has a very flaky croissant-like layers which are served hot. And the melted mushroom chunks and gravy in it are very flavoursome, yet not too salty. It serves as a great brunch for me!
