After the good experience with rice dishes previously, we decided to return and try the noodle dishes instead.

Once again, we selected from the lunch set menu as the prices are more attractive.

Chasyu Mince Shoyu Ramen Set (RM13.30) features minced pork in soy broth. The taste is just reasonable.

As for the Mitsuki Ramen Set (RM11.30), it was originally supposed to be served with udon noodles instead. But the chef was kind enough to change to ramen noodles as requested. This dish featured pork chops instead, and we preferred this over the previous dish.

We also tried the Spicy Chicken & Egg Rice Set (RM13.80). This dish consists of spicy chicken chunks and fried egg served over a bowl of white rice. It turns out to be our favorite because of the good chicken flavor.

The set meals are served Miso Soup, Salad, Watermelon Slice and a choice of drink: either Green Tea or Genmai Tea.

Our consensus is that Japin's strength still lies in its don (rice) dishes, not ramen.

Located at the northern wing of Queensbay Mall, Japin is easily overlooked by shoppers due to its remoteness from other restaurants. Nevertheless, a food blogger must do what a food blogger must do - eat!

We opted for the set lunch menu, which has several selections of bento meals. In most cases, the set consists of the main dish, miso soup, shredded cabbage mayonnaise salad, rice and watermelon cuts. For the price we paid, it was a pretty decent bargain.

I ordered the Tori Teriyaki Setto, which transliterates to "Bird Shine-Roast Set". The word "tori" often refers to chicken especially in food menus. To refer to chicken specifically, the term "niwa tori" is used.

Back to the main point, the teriyaki (sweet-sauce) chicken is reasonably well-cooked, although it would taste even better if it were less oily.

Both of colleagues ordered the same dish: Takana Cyahan Setto. Normally, my rule of thumb is not to order the same dish twice, in case of incapacitation of both pilots in the same flight. Wait... maybe I am confused with the airlines policy. But you get my point.

Anyway, the Takana Cyahan Setto comes with garlic fried rice and several small servings of pickles. For the price, the quality and quantity is pretty good.

Japin is a good place to drop by occasionally, but the menu choices is rather limited.

Japanese ramen

Japanese ramen is one of my favourite Japanese dish. The ramen broth has a very intense flavour of pork and other Japanese seasonings. The ramen is cooked perfectly - not too soft or too firm. It is served with a few slices of Japanese barbecued pork belly and boiled egg which complement the ramen very well. It is priced reasonably.

Japin is a famous Japanese restaurant, it even had been introduced in the newspaper, though it had open for quite a long time but I never try at there. So that day I had decided to gave it a try. I had order a set bento, as you can see from the picture, it consist of a bento, a bowl of soup and a piece of watermelon. I can't really give it a conclusion because I really don't feel it tasty, I might think one of the reason is I don't like Japanese food, but I not really sure about that. Anyway, wh

I ordered the chicken set which is quite nice ..but is jus from wat I can say is looks like is not that worth of the money we paid.. and the taste is not as nice as sushi king lol.. hahaa. The portion is good enough for one and the chicken taste is kinda flavorful with the teriyaki sauce which comes with it.
