I came here with just one colleague for lunch. The place was quite crowded. Apparently, the current owner is the second generation who take over the business from his father who was very famous. It is my first time eating Chinese Hainanese food. Since I thought there were only two of us, I did not want to order too much and settled for 2 dishes but the portion was very small. The Signature Super Thin Potatoes cooked with dark sauce with small pieces of pork was amazing.
It is somehow weird that I would not have ordered both dishes if not for my colleague since I do not like pork, potatoes or kai lan. But the result is amazing when I allow others to help me order and the food I think I hate turned out to be actually tasty!
Since the portion was too small, we added the Signature Kampung Chicken with Chai Poh (Preserved vegetables). The Chai Poh was amazing and crispy and very tasty to eat with the plain white rice which I had a hard time swallowing with the non-spicy dishes. The chicken was very lean and delicious.
The bill of RM 40, was a bit hefty for a lunch of two, but then again, life is about eating! Oh, and I heard there is a/c segment of the kopitiam upstairs!
