It's been very long since my first visit to Gelare, after my initial disappointment over the lack of chocolate syrup on my waffle.

On my second visit, I got smart. I asked for lots of chocolate sauce, and chocolate fudge ice cream. The result? Perfection. The super thick chocolate fudge ice cream (much thicker than the other flavours) was intensely chocolatey, further amplified by the extra chocolate sauce on the light, fluffy-yet-crispy waffle. The cream was just "kuah tambah" that didn't really make a difference (though I lapped it all up anyway).

In terms of the waffle itself, it's absolute perfection. In terms of the whole package, it is only as good as you let it be. Pick the right ice cream and the right sauce (and ask for more). For me, intensely flavoured and gooey texture always makes the best waffles.

Even better, is that it's half price on Tuesdays (just the waffle component - the ice cream is still full price). That's RM11.90 nett for a single scoop on a huge waffle. Shared by two people, that's half the calories and more than enough waffle to split.
