The yam basket came with seafood roll! The yam paste, deep fried to resemble a bowl, was so-so. But the highlight was the filling of ‘kung po’ chicken, fried with dried chilli, onion, julienned carrots and some bell peppers. The waitress in Wong Poh declared that the tilapia was fresh and still swimming in the tank, hence we decided to order this. Flawlessly steamed just right, the fish was a great addition to a meal. Smothered in fermented black bean sauce (also known as ‘taucu’), with a generous helping of chopped garlic and some pickled plum sauce, the fish was very enjoyable. The only complaint was that the size of the fish was a bit too small.

This version of ‘pai kuat wong’ in Wong Poh is unusual, at least to my palate. The ribs are deep fried before being stir fried in golden sweet and sour sauce. The sauce carried a hint of plum, vinegar and honey, very pleasing to the taste buds. The meat falls off the bones easily, tender and not chewy at all. Overall, an interesting dish, and will definitely go for it again in the future.

The only other place I know that does kailan this way is at Oriental Pavilion in Jaya33, and I always order this dish when having dimsum there. I was surprised to see this on Wong Poh’s menu, hence out of curiosity I decided to order this dish. The green leafy part is deep fried until it is crispy, while the stalk is stir fried. Sprinkled with some tiny fried anchovies for that extra crunch, this dish is a delightful addition to the meal and it definitely holds its own against the Oriental Pavil

The Salted Egg Fried Sotong in Wong Poh is scrumptious. The cholesterol-laden fried cephalopod dredged in flour with generous helping of salted egg is great when paired with a beer or two. Every mouthful bursting with flavour, this sinful indulgence is not to be missed. The frying is done just right, hence the sotong does not have the overly tough and chewy consistency. Noticeable from the NKVE highway, Restoran Wong Poh in Aman Suria seems always packed to the brim. I have always passed by it, but never had a chance to sample their dishes. A couple of days ago, a group of friends decided to give this place a go. The main dish that I was looking forward to is the wet buttermilk crab. Fresh, juicy crabs smothered in generous mouth-watering gravy of buttermilk is the perfect food to savour while catching up with a group of friends.

Fresh coconut drink.
They have the coconut drinks too. Its chilled and very refreshing when drinking. The coconut flesh is easy to remove too, the texture is smooth and soft.

Went to Wong Poh (旺來海鮮飯店) a few times because their food are nice. Their service really good and fast on serving the food to customer. Fried Long Bean

Braised Tofu
They home-made their tofu. Deep fried the outer layer and braised with golden needle mushroom, sliced black mushroom and some carrots. The tofu is smooth and tasted the soy aroma. I like needle mushroom a lot, this is nice with the gravy that mix great with my rice.

Another dish you should try in this restaurant, Salted Egg with Squid. It looks simply, but do not judge a book by its cover! It was very crunchy and tasty. The squid was considered quite large in size and enriched with thick salted egg flavor, it really tastes delicious. Besides, it was so fresh where you can feel the springy of the squid.

What can you do with that rich and thick gravy? You must order their buns (Man Tou) to dip it and eat together, it’s really goes well with the gravy. Actually their buns is quite large compared to others restaurant and it just cost RM0.70 each!

Oyster Bee Hoon here is another famous dish at here. But for my personal thought, I think it is a bit over rated. The bee hoon itself, they fried it very nice. But frankly speaking, it is just a normal fried bee hoon. A bit oily. The oyster here is a bit dry. They are not juicy at all.
