Stating the obvious: Changkat Bukit Bintang has a nice new set of Racks. Streaky bacon sarnie, a British favorite. Come to think of it, Racks might be for pork at Changkat what The Magnificent Fish & Chips is for fish on this street. As a bonus, the service team is more than praiseworthy _ warm, welcoming & wonderfully helpful. Pork crackling with Racks' signature "Torture" spicy sauce. Slightly too hard to bite into; worthwhile for sharing in a large group, but two of us had a tough time finish

Char-grilled gammon with fried eggs, pinto beans & potatoes. Looks like luncheon meat at first, but this cut from a hog's hind legs boasts all the meatiness of a bona fide steak.

Stating the obvious: Changkat Bukit Bintang has a nice new set of Racks. Racks is pork paradise from start to end. At some other outlets, pulled pork sandwiches come out as perfunctory creations with bland, stringy meat. Even the ubiquitous pork burger isn't taken for granted. The tender patty contains a surprise, prepared with bits of oven-baked tomatoes inside for a understated zing. With a look that seems stripped down to the basics, it might be even tastier with toppings of cheese & egg, but those are not truly necessary.

How do you like them apples: Racks' apple cocktails are intoxicating. Our favorites would be the Apple Ginger Harvest (brandy, ginger beer, apple juice, fresh lime) & Big Apple Lemonade (bacardi apple rum, amaretto, homemade sours, sprite).

The winner of the night was undoubtedly the Racks' Pork Burger (RM 28). Easily one of the more juicy and flavourful pork burgers we've had in awhile, this thick pork patty was purely satisfying. They do serve it with a sauce of your choice: I chose the apple-chilli sauce which came with chunky cuts of sweet apple in it but I felt it didn't do the pork glorious-ness any justice And as if it isn't sinful enough, you can also opt to add an egg for RM 4! And as if it isn't sinful enough, you can also opt to add an egg for RM 4! With strips of bacon on top, it looks a bit too salty, but it actually helps to take off some of the sweet flavour of the apple. Definitely a must-try!

The Pulled Pork, Crackling & Apple Jam burger (RM 28) was something different, akin to shredded pork. I've never seen a burger like this before! Racks was heavy handed on the seasoning, as the slow-cooked-and-then-shredded Boston butt flesh contained more than few kicks of spice. It certainly was an interesting concept, but was too dry for our liking. Not one for purists.

The main specialty here at Racks is the ribs in Hot and Spicy sauce (RM 32 for half a rack), or as Racks dubs it, their house "torture" sauce. Though less torture was inflicted than its name suggests, this was a better option to accompany the big fleshy ribs. You can also get a full rack of both ribs at RM 52. The meat here was very tender, able to fall off the bone with the slightest touch of the knife. The sauce was not as spicy as we thought it would be, but it was just nice to provide a tang

A half rack of pork ribs, Sticky & Sweet (RM 32 for half a rack). As tender and soft the oven-braised meat was, it was bland and lacking in marination while its coat of glaze was one-dimensional. It was sweet at first bite, and sickly sweet by the last. The portion was medium size, perhaps not enough for those with a bigger appetite. The mash potato was smooth, and the coleslaw was fresh.
