Coco Steamboat (Closed)

Chili. What's a steamboat with their signature chili paste? Coco steamboat served us a bowl of chili to go with our steamboat ingredients. It was not thick version, but not diluted wither. It was made of chili and some garlic. The garlic taste was not strong, while the chili was not too spicy. I would say it was just a so-so chili dipping sauce as compared to another steamboat chain.

Chrysanthemum tea. One night when we were thinking where to have dinner, my friends suggested this pork bone soup steamboat at Puchong, so off we went to this place. The shop is a corner shop and it has lots of tables inside and outside of the shop as well. The chrysanthemum tea was thick and fragrant with chrsysanthemum taste. It was not overly sweet, just nice to cool down after a hot meal.

Fried chicken wings. We ordered fried chicken wings while waiting for the steamboat soup to boil. The size of the fried chicken wings were medium-sized and they were deep fried till golden brown. Once I took a bite, it has strong fermented bean paste coating, which was slightly salty, but that was fine with me. The deep fried skin was very crispy. I enjoyed this chicken wings a lot.

Set menu. The set menu came with RM16.80 per pax. Since there were four of us, we ordered three pax portion. It has fuchuk, prawns, beancurd, meat balls, cabbages, yam sticks, dumplings, fish paste noodle, fish balls and crab sticks. The prawns was very fresh and the texture of the meat was crunchy. The dumpling fillings were thick and slightly salty. The fish balls were springy.

Mushroom minced balls. This is one of the in-house made meat balls – mushroom minced meat balls. It was quite big piece and we left it in the broth to boil for quite long time. The mushroom pieces were obvious and a lot in one piece of the meat balls. The texture of the meat ball was soft and not too chewy. It was not too salty by itself. A strongly recommended add-on dish.

Pork belly slices. Before we came to this shop, we saw from some blogs saying that the pork belly slices were good. As such, we ordered a plate of this as well. It came thinly sliced and stacked together. After swishing the pork slices in the hot broth, it was cooked perfectly. The meat was tender but it has lots of fats, which was a bit “over” for me, so I just took one slice only.

Wholesome pork bone soup. I am very interested in pork bone soup steamboat and the moment my friend suggested this place, I agreed immediately. The soup looked whitish in color, similar to the fish head noodle broth. It consisted of two large pieces of pork bones, raddish, spring onions and black peppers. It tasted very delicious! The soup was thick with pork bone essence with a slight peppery taste.
