1. River Café @ Casa De Rio Hotel

This café has a lovely Peranakan-inspired décor and is blessed with an amazing view of the Malacca River. And the cooling breeze makes a wonderful contrast to the balmy weather, It serves Western cuisines and Peranakan set lunch that you shouldn’t miss out on. The sandwiches are wonderful, too. The beautiful, crisp greens and the fresh smoked salmon go together beautifully. Needless to say, it also offers great hospitality.

2. Dutch Harbour Café

Located at the Stadhuys Shop lot, one of the busiest streets in Melaka, the café’s location is rather obscure. Still, it makes a quaint, little romantic spot for candlelit dinners. And either of its local and Western fare makes an excellent choice. The experience gets even better if you first stroll down the path to the café that’s alongside the Malacca River with your loved one, and then enter through its back door and be seated down to a fine meal.

3. Casa De Café

If you are looking for a café that opens till late hours, this is the place. The coziness within it makes you want to stay longer. A variety of delicacies, of either Eastern or Western root, is available. A thing worth noting, though: the chicken pot pie takes 20 minutes to prepare, but it’s worth the wait. The pastry atop is crispy, and the sauce is warm and creamy. Great on a rainy day!

4. Eggxtra

Because the day’s first meal is the most important, a balanced meal is essential to kick-start a great day. And this place is a great place to enjoy brunch with family or friends. It’s comfortable and laid-back, and serves fresh and healthy brunch options that incorporate loads of fruit and greens. The service here, too, is commendable.

5. Nubacha

A fabulous place perfect for gatherings. Albeit simple in its décor, Nubacha works to provide a haven for both food and art lovers, as seen through the canvas artworks that adorn its interior.
