Wifey was suddenly interested in this pixel art bag, and dragged me to Empire Shopping Gallery to buy them. So in return, she promised to bring me to Din Tai Fung for some good face-stuffing. The layout in Din Tai Fun is quite special, compartmentalised in such a way that you can have a party of about 20 sitting within the compartment. Of course if your party is not big, then sharing will have to be done.

There were also tables on the sides to cater to more patrons. There were shelves with olden Chinese teapots, wine bottles and such to lend an authentic Chinese feel to the restaurant.
While we were browsing the menu, I was drawn to an item, baby Xiao Long Bao with superior soup. Apparently these are only available on weekends with limited quantity being made. Also, in Empire, they were only available before 1pm. It was 12.50pm when we sat and ordered. Just in time too!

The twelve pieces of baby Xiao Long Bao was very cute, small and decadent. Since they were so small, the superior soup was not able to fit within the folds of the dough, instead they were served separately in another bowl. The baby xiao long bao dough is much thinner compared to the usual sized ones. The filling of pork was juicy and delicious. It was slightly dry, but we were supposed to eat the baby xiao long bao together with the superior soup.

The superior soup is quite nice, very flavourful. There were pieces julienned fried egg in it, which gives it a good flavour. There weren't much MSG taste either. Eaten with some ginger and vinegar, it was most superb!
