Wifey wanted something with mouth-crunch, so we decided to order the mango shrimp roll as it looked rather inviting from the menu. The breaded skin is fried till yellow and crispy. Within the roll, there were chunks of sweet mangoes as well as shrimps drenched in mayonnaise. The combination of flavours were refreshing, and due to the mayonnaise, the roll was quite juicy. Definitely recommended.

The braised beef la mian in Din Tai Fung is quite nice. It is full of beefy flavour, though for those who are not used to the gamey smell might be slightly put off. The noodles are done well, slurpy and slippery. The pieces of beef are choice cuts of the shin, meat tender with lines of chewy tendon. It was slightly salty and spicy but still acceptable. Definitely recommended for beef lovers.

I first had Din Tai Fung in Hong Kong, and the dish that reminded me of the good times there was the spicy shrimp pork wan tan. I must order this dish every time I visit Din Tai Fung, for nostalgic reasons. Don't get me wrong, the dish is superb, the plus point is that it brings back the good deja vu feeling for me. The wan tan skin is smooth and delectable. The filling of whole shrimp and minced pork combination was juicy and nice. The best thing was the bed of spicy chilli sauce, with lots of

Definitely recommended.

I like the fact that Din Tai Fung has all the sauces and cutleries all laid out prior leading the patrons to the table. Very proactive of them. Once we ordered, which included a crab meat and pork xiao long bao, the waiter immediately placed a small saucer of julienned ginger on our table, for the xiao long bao of course. The dish came in a jiffy, piping hot. According to the menu, each piece of xiao long bao in Din Tai Fung has at least 18 folds, which was proven when I took the effort to count

Plump and juicy, the crab meat and pork xiao long bao was very flavourful. To eat, one will have to bite a small hole at the bottom of the xiao long bao to suck out the soup. Then some ginger and vinegar placed on top, and we have to gobble it up in a mouthful. The burst of taste was a joy.

There were plenty of crab meat and some roe mixed together with a ball of pork, and the taste is exquisite. Freshly made to order, Din Tai Fung's reputation for Xiao Long Bao is unmatched.

The layout in Din Tai Fun is quite special, compartmentalised in such a way that you can have a party of about 20 sitting within the compartment. Of course if your party is not big, then sharing will have to be done.

There were also tables on the sides to cater to more patrons. There were shelves with olden Chinese teapots, wine bottles and such to lend an authentic Chinese feel to the restaurant.
While we were browsing the menu, I was drawn to an item, baby Xiao Long Bao with superior soup. Apparently these are only available on weekends with limited quantity being made. Also, in Empire, they were only available before 1pm. It was 12.50pm when we sat and ordered. Just in time too!

The twelve pieces of baby Xiao Long Bao was very cute, small and decadent. Since they were so small, the superior soup was not able to fit within the folds of the dough, instead they were served separately in another bowl. The baby xiao long bao dough is much thinner compared to the usual sized ones. The filling of pork was juicy and delicious. It was slightly dry, but we were supposed to eat the baby xiao long bao together with the superior soup.

The superior soup is quite nice, very flavourful. There were pieces julienned fried egg in it, which gives it a good flavour. There weren't much MSG taste either. Eaten with some ginger and vinegar, it was most superb!

Din Tai Fung 鼎泰豐 is at empire shopping mall and here is nice but need to queue up. i try the desserts very tasty and served hot. but need to queue during lunch and dinner hour. their famous xiao long bao is my all time favourite, each piece of Xiao Long Bao is wrapped in fine – yet firm – translucent skin, and each dumpling has at least 18 exquisite folds. the hot and sour soup is thick and tasty enough.

I find that this dish is a little too wet for my liking. I prefer my fried rice to be cooked a little longer, to ensure that the moisture is reduced and each rice can be tasted by every grain.

However, the prawns were fresh and succulent, and they were quite flavourful as well. The pork was well marinated and salted, and it complements the prawns and the rice in general.

This dish costs RM15.50++, which is not too bad considering that there is seafood in the dish.

The chinese cabbage arrived in between some of the dishes that I lost count. I find that the portion was quite small, especially when we have around 8 people sharing that dish. In fact, there were some of us who could not even have a taste of the leaf. Lucky for me, I did.

The chinese cabbage was very crunchy, as it is indeed very fresh and well cooked. It is cooked with minimal garlic, to ensure the vegetable's taste is still there. It is also lightly salted, which overall makes it a good healthy dish, if only if they were more generous with the portion.

This dish of vegetables costs RM14.30++.

I ordered the La Mien which actually is Chinese Ramen. It is dried noodle that is spreaded with Cha Jiang. Cha Jiang is a sort of minced pork mixture with a type of chinese bean with mini tofu. The noodle is totally bland without the cha jiang sauce, but after mixing it, it becomes much more delicious. The tangy taste of the sauce brings much character to the noodles. However, I find that the noodles are too soft and overcooked for my liking. This bowl of noodle costs RM13.50++.

Another specialty of this place is their La Mien. Their la mien is very good quality, hand made, fresh and delicious. Unlike other places, the la mien i had is not thick, i don't really like thick la mien. The la mien is very very smooth, and the texture is very nice. You can feel that the la mien has been doing some "excercise" by the chef, so it will taste nice. The hot and sour soup was very spicy, thick broth and it sure makes you sweat having this soup.

Want to try the best la mien in town with perfect quality? Then this is the restaurant that you should come for. The noodle here is very nice to eat. I like to order the one comes with chicken soup. The soup isn't oily at all and it is very clear. It taste quite sweet and the chicken already cooked till very soft. The soup looked very simple yet it is very delicious. Same goes to the la mien. You don't need much decoration to have a great noodle. Simple and clear enough for it.
