The salmon roll with tri-coloured roe in Paradigm Mall is very saporific. They look so scrumptious, and it’s a shame to gobble them down. The salmon slice wrapped around a ball of sushi rice and topped with three different coloured roe. The orange coloured one tasted like the prawn roe, while the light green one has a tinge of wasabi in it. I couldn’t ascertain the taste of the dark green / black one, but it was super delish all the same.

The marinated jellyfish in Paradigm Mall is a great appetiser. The jellyfish is crunchy and springy, with a lot of zesty flavour. Tossed in chilli sauce and ample sesame seed, the combination is really nice. It comes decorated with a leafy vegetable and julienned radish. The radish is virtually tasteless. However, it does tamper down some of the spiciness of the jellyfish if eaten together.

Went to Paradigm Mall the other day to have a good Japanese meal. As usual, the queue at Sushi Zanmai is long, however, after lining up for 20 minutes, we were finally shown our table. We ordered and the first to arrive was the beef udon. The noodles were springy with just enough ‘bounce’. Slurping them down was a joy. Lunch time with the pretty's. Just ordered some of the sushi's and 1 bowl of tempura soba. Love to have the craving moment for this during lunch hour. Being a chatter box and enjoying the environment over here and eat few of the sushi's. I was too hungry, so i ordered a bowl of noodle. Yummy fresh made tempura which I can't resist. First thing I did is to snap picture when all the food is on our table.

The star of this sushi is the mentai, nicely arranged on top of tamago then roasted with a torch. It has a nice roasted and aromatic smell, the savoury flavour of mentai complements the whole sushi very well. No wonder it is a favourite of many diners, including me

Some finely chopped cabbage was served between the oysters and rice, giving a refreshing crunch. The fluffy rice will taste even better if more sauce was drizzled on it, but that's just me. You can always add some sweet sauce provided to add extra sweet and savoury flavour to your rice.

6 pieces of spider roll was served. The maki was filled with soft shell crab wrapped with seaweed, and topped with avocado and mentaiko. The maki also consisted some crab roe to give some crispy texture to it. The soft shell crab was fresh and crunchy, slightly salty. The avocado was sweet and soft. The mentaiko was slightly burned and it was so fragrant, so sinful. It was slightly salty. Love this spider roll to the max!

The next to order is the Salmon Sushi don. It was rice with salmon sashimi nicely arranged on top. It was also garnished with some some salmon eggs, slices of cucumber and a slice of lemon. Unfortunately, I found that this dish was too dry for my liking. As there were no gravy or sauce in the dish, the sticky rice was too dry even though served with the salmon. I had to mix a considerable amount of the mixture of soy sauce and wasabi so I can eat the rice.
The salmon sashimi was tasty, as it was cool, and full of salmon taste and aroma. The salmon eggs were a nice touch as the strong juice from the eggs brings out the taste and blends well with the rice. I wished they would have given more salmon eggs as it compliments the rice very much.

Perhaps I will order other rice bowls in the future.

I like how they placed the vegetables standing up like that. The Soft Shell Crab Tortilla Roll is tortilla wrapped around vegetable and soft shell crab then topped with sauce and fish roe. The roe was big and juicy, I could hear them pop as I bit into them. The tortilla is soft but as you bite inside, you reach the fresh green leaves and the crunchy crab. The crab was not oily. Quite a special and tasty dish.

Perhaps it's because it wasn't peak hour.. The shop was pretty empty and we had the attention of all the staff there The Toriniku Cream Pasta/Chicken Cream Sauce Pasta highly resembles carbonara in terms of outlook and taste. There are mushrooms in the cream sauce. On top are some pieces of chicken that honestly tasted like the Chinese 'siu yuk' because it's salty with a slightly bitter crunchy skin.

Lights over our head.Pretty interior, I must say.. Found it strange that our seats didn't have a head rest/back wall though. If both you and the person sitting behind you lean back your heads, you'll have a really awkward moment Being particular about sashimi, I found theirs to be satisfactory. They're really fresh but the slices are thinner than some other places. Dipping into the soy sauce and wasabi really amps up the taste. Not sure why theirs is so fragrant!

If you like kimchijigae, you will probably like this too! Kimuchi is the Japanese version of kimchi although I honestly thought they're quite similar. The noodles are like spaghetti and the kimuchi soup is really yummy. Salty, sour and spicy really opens up your appetite. I found 1 scallop, 3 mussels and 1 clam. There are also vegetables and mushrooms inside. Could have contained prawns and squid too. Can't really recall but the menu shows that there should be.

Two weeks ago, Jol & I went to the newly opened Paradigm Mall in Kelana Jaya for a movie. After the movie, we had our dinner at Sushi Zanmai. This is actually my first time eating at Sushi Zanmai. Sushi Zanmai brand themselve as the genuine conveyor-belt Sushi Restaurant. Service was good there. They constantly refill the ocha (RM 2) for us.The sushi in Sushi Zan

The sushi in Sushi Zanmai is priced according to the plates' colours. Price starts from Rm 1.80 for yellow plate and highest is RM 6.80 for red plate. Jol and I had 3 plates of sushi for that night.

Again, I am not sure what is the name of this sushi but the sushi rice is wrapped in tofu skin....Again this is topped with mayonnaise. A clever way to make it tastier...

Aside from the sushis above, we also ordered the following Ebi Okonomiyaki for a price of RM 12.80.

Ebi Okonomiyaki

Okonomiyaki is actually a type of Japanese pancake topped with a variety of ingredients. Ours is topped with mini fried shrimps. The main base of the pancake is actually made from egg made into omelette. With the crispy shrimps and mayonnaise, just one bite and you will definitely love this pancake. The portion served is just right to be shared by 2 people.........Yummy yummy........

Soft Shell Crab Harumaki aka Soft Shell Crab Spring Roll (RM 13.80)

The soft shell crab harumaki was presented nicely to us in a dragon like shape with a head and a tail. The soft shell crab was deep fried and wrapped in a spring roll wrapper together with some vegetables. However, the soft shell crabs were not that crispy and pretty tasteless and the roll is mainly filled with vegetables instead of the crab. To make it more taste, I actually had to dip the roll onto the mayonnaise dressing. They should have put more crab into the roll and properly fried the crab to make them better.
