The sze chuan brinjal was another signature dish from Esquire Kitchen and we understand why. The brinjal was thinly sliced and it was soft, although slightly oily (as brinjal naturally absorbed oil), it has to be eaten with rice or mantao. The minced meat has some spiciness to it and the meat was soft too. Overall, it was slightly salty but it was fine with all of us.

Shanhainese Fried Dumpling ("Wo Tip") is our favourite since young. The dumplings were basically pan fried thus the bottom part was golden brown while the top part still fair. There were minced meat and spring onions in it. The skin was slightly thick and oily, but the inner fillings were soft and moist. They were aromatic too. I dipped the dumpling with ginger vinegar to add some sourness to it.

This Tong Po Meat is another signature dish from the restaurant, whereby it is recommended by the Captain everytime in these branches. When we feel like having some fats, we ordered this Tong Po Meat. It came in a small bowl filled with the gravy and the thick meat. The meat was made of several layers of fats and lean meats that made it so juicy. The dish was slightly salty.

Chicken Paprika ("Gong Po Kai Ding") is our favourite as well. The dish has chicken pieces, cashew nuts and dried chilies. The dry chilies that made the dish very spicy. The chicken was not too soft and it has the taste of the sze chuan gravy. The cashew nut was crispy. Although the gravy was not much, but the heavily laden flavour was enough to satisfy me, albeit salty.

Esquire Kitchen is famous for its deep fried mantao and it is in my must-order list whenever I patron this restaurant. That day, we ordered the dishes and also added on the mantao. This mantao was slightly oily, but it was really crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. In order to mask its oiliness, I had to dip it with lots of sauces and balance up the taste. I still like the mantao.

Normally when people order long bean the cooking style is just normal stir fried. But this long bean is looked very normal, the taste actually is a bit complex. The vegetable texture itself is very crunchy. When you munch it, you will like the texture very much. Then the thick garlic oil on top of the vegetables release the onion fragrance. This dish doesn’t has much sauce on it but then the vegetable itself taste quite sweet.

Suey Choy Pork Strip Noodles (RM 10.30 after tax)

There were lots of vegetables ("Choi Sum") being provided in the noodles, which is a good way to add on more fibres to your meal. Besides, there were also lots of Suen Choy in the noodles; but the shredded pork's amount is not that much. I like the slight sour taste of the soup due to the suen choy. I nearly finished up all the soup..hehe...The noodles were not bad too, slightly springy...I think this is a healthy meal; not oily and lots of greens.

After my break from shopping last week, I passed by Esquire Kitchen in Tropicana Mall and decided to get the Ham Tan Sou @ Salted Egg Pastry as my snack.Ham Tan Sou (RM 1.80)The lovely shaped Ham Tan Sou with little bits of sesame seed sprinkled on the pastry skin. The sesame seed make the Ham Tan Sou more fragrant and appetizing. The Ham Tan Sou is fully filled with lotus paste; which isn't too sweet. This is good as I do not like my lotus paste to be too sweet. Can you spot the salted egg yolk

Can you spot the salted egg yolk??? I am sure you can see as the portion of egg yolk inserted is quite big.........definitely not as stingy like Tuan Yuan's Ham Tan Sou where you can't see any of the egg yolk at all....with that amount of salted egg yolk, I managed to satisfy my cravings for egg yolk....yummy yummy.....
