I am no stranger to Ikea Restaurant. The food did not impress me the first time and even after a few more visits, it seems unlikely that it ever will. But this doesn't mean that I'm never going back there. I definitely will - for the ambiance. I absolutely love hanging out at the restaurant. If there is one thing I love Ikea for, it is that they have F-A-M-I-L-Y in mind, always. The food trolley is a perfect example of how they have made it so convenient for families to order food - no more juggling trays with too many cups and plates on and no more walking back and forth just to collect the tray you left behind because your hands were full!
The food, to me, is nothing extraordinary. It is simple fare that befits the price and is perfect for the children. The affordable price is again, great for families. I'm not surprised that the restaurant is always full of people for this reason.But if I had to recommend a dish, I would readily suggest the Swedish meatballs. It is the more appetising choice with a dollop of lingonberry sauce for that little oomph. If you don't fancy meatballs, then the Whole Leg Chicken could be something to consider. Poached Salmon would be a feast for folks who are into healthier choices.
Out of curiosity, I tried the Cinnamon Roll. My verdict? Not something I'd order again - a little dry and hard plus you don't even get that irresistible aroma that usually comes with Cinnamon.
All in, the Ikea Restaurant is meant to cater for their shoppers' needs, which it has achieved. If you're looking for something to wow your palate, you will not find it here.
