Pick drumstick or wings and watch them dump it into the fryer. Few minutes later, the cook put it on a flat mortar and flattened (penyet) it with a pestle. Top it up with some crispy bumbu and serve with fiery sambal and a side of fried tofu, tempe, raw cabbages, cucumber and tomatoes and a free bowl of sourish vegetable soup. Yum! I like to eat my ayam penyet with lots of sweet dark sauce ( kicap manis) instead of fiery sambal. The sweetness of the dark sticky sauce really compliments with the crispy chicken. Love it! Apart from ayam penyet, they have lele penyet, ikan bakar, kerang bakar, gado gado, bawal goring and many more. Perfect place to lunch for budget travellers who's visiting Central Market ( Pasar Seni) who would like to try eat Indonesian food.
