Korean food especially barbequed has always not been cheap so when there was a discounted offer for less than RM20 each, I jumped at the opportunity. The restaurant location is in an area with really horrible parking so I can understand the need for the promotion. The offer was for Pork Belly barbeque with refillable 8 side dishes. I was impressed with quaint little restaurant which looked really authentic with private tatami rooms for diners. Once seated, the uncooked pork belly strips came together with some garlic, onion, green chilli and lettuces. Each table has a built in stove for cooking. Once cooked, we cut the pork strips to smaller pieces. As the meat was quite fresh, it tasted good especially with the bean paste sauce provided. The pork belly they served were slightly lean with only a bit of fat nevertheless there was still much oil from the meat making it unnecessary for us to add any oil at all to barbeque it. Once cooked, the smell of the barbequed meat were really aromatic and I could taste the succulent juicy meat. The side dishes given were really good too with spicy anchovies with braised peanuts, fishcake, kimchi, imported taugeh, mini cockles, braised egg slices and cauliflower. These were refillable twice only but the meat portion were so much that I only refilled the peanuts and fishcake which is my favourite. continue reading

This is the mureung dowon at Ampang.Mureung Dowon is a korean style restaurant that served authentic korean cuisinefood in Kuala Lumpur. We went there to have our lunch after meet with my supplier at Ampang point. The restaurantis very well decorated and you can have your own dining area. It's so private and special.I ordered their bbq pork belly. They will cut it and bbq it on the spot for you once you order it.The pork belly is so fresh and tender. It'sso tasty and you don't even need any sauce to make it nicer.I like this so much. continue reading

First of all, the pork stench in this restaurant is horrible. It’s in my hair, bag and dress. The smell lingers on even after I’ve left the place. Honestly they should do something about the ventilation of the place, it’s like dining in a greasy butchery. And although their decoration is quite nice and we get a private room (that you gotta share with another couple which is quite awkward) , but the stench spoils everything. Few slices of un-marinated pork belly was placed on the grill. At first, we are a bit worried as the pork might not taste good since it’s not marinated with anything except for slices of onions placed on top of it. But actually, it tasted good enough just to be eaten on it’s own! Or dipped with a brownish salty dip that I think is just salt or brown sugar with soy sauce. Just with a slice of pork and a mouthful of fluffy white rice. Yummy! Sorry no picture of cooked meat, too greasy for phone. We are not expert in Korean grilled food so we kinda played with our food. After the server cut the pork slices and left, we applied some red sauce that tasted like fermented red bean curd (lam yu) taken from a plate of spring onions on the pork and briefly re-grilled them. It tasted yummier! The bachan selected is quite mediocre, we didn’t even ask for re-fills. We send away a plate of clams because we are not a fan of shellfish and it kinda looked raw! In fact non of its bachan dishes tasted okay for me, I guess I’m really not into Korean food.I would order another plate of pork but no menu was given to us because we booked this dinner via some group buy sites. I hate it when group buy customers are treated differently than their full paying customers. When I left, the floor is so greasy I almost slipped. The place is actually on second floor, next to Ampang Point above CIMB Bank. Thirst factor is quite high continue reading

There are many Korean restaurants in Ampang. Among all, Mureung Dowon has to be the most favorite one for me but it is not wellknown restaurant because it is hidden in second floor and just operate for 8 months.I would recommend over at Mureung Dowon would be their BBQ pork. It is definitely one of the better ones around that because their Hun-Je Pork Belly is freash and thick. Futhermore, the 8 refillable side dishes remains pretty much an undiscovered gem, it is more tradisional dishes from Korea compare to other korean restaurant. continue reading

It took us some time to find this place. From the restaurant address and google map, it doesn't help a lot. Where is this restaurant Actually it is just beside the Ampang point, find CIMB bank which is facing the main road, this restaurant is located on the left side of CIMB. Hope it's help for those who not really familiar with Ampang area liked us. Since we went there on weekday around 1.30pm, there are not much people in there, so we able to take some photo. Mureung Dowon comes with separate rooms with air-cond, it is really a perfect setting for a private dining experience. Each rooms's wall are designed with different chinese poetry. Simple and modern interior yet comfortable. We really enjoy the dining environment. The room is clean, nice presentation with chopsticks, spoon, small plate and red napkin. These are our side dishes, salad and Doenjang-Stewed. Their ingredients and vegetables are really fresh. We like the Doenjang-Stewed as well, tasty. The side dishes are refillable but we didn't do so as we are really full. This set deal is really much enough for two people. The pork belly is fresh and it served with some mushroom. The mushroom is really fresh, soft and tasty. The waiter is polite and they will help you to grill the pork belly. You can see from our photo, the grilled pork belly will cut into small pieces and eat with steamed rice. The pork belly is nicely grilled, soft and tasty. continue reading
