We were arranged to a VIP room at the rear of the cozy restaurant , decorated with collections of antiques around and gives an authentic retro charm. A friendly waiter named “Ahlam” is than came to serve us with a hot tea while we catching our breath.

1919 Style Kerabu Salad with Philipines eggplant

Instead of the traditional dishes that majority of the Chinese restaurants offer, most of the servings here have an added twist. The first dish- appetizer that we had, is a mix of 1919 style kerabu salad in a crispy yam cover and surrounded by their best- selling items “Philipines eggplant”. The philipines brinjal is cut in stripes form and have a crispy external with juicy and soft texture . Topped with Thailand sweet and sour sauce, it appears to be a great appetizer! The yam basket (made from deep- fried taro) which usually serve during Chinese course dinner is now turn out to be a unique dish with the sweet and sour kerabu filled inside. Good food presentation and so as the dish!

Seafood Curry

After a heavy starter, we were served with their renowned seafood curry. We were told by the friendly restaurateurs that the curry is their house speciality and there are lots of regulars and patrons pay a 2nd visit just for the curry. I have no doubt on that! The curry were unsurprisingly the highlight of the meal, where the curry is thicken up by the delicacies that dissolve in the soup. The coconut milk is prodigiously employed and togather with the spices it serves to yield flavours that are intensely aromatic. The seafood complemented the sweet and slight- piquancy of the flavoursome curry soup nicely. I have to admit that it’s the best curry I have ever tasted so far in KL!

Century Egg cooked with spinach

Century egg cooked with spinach , another added twisted dish I had, where the vege is cooked with century eggs rather than just the usual egg white starch. This is a simple and nice dish, not a very outstanding house speciality compare to other but it was good.

Love the environment!!!

Reasons i love 1919 is not just because of their inventive cuisine, the friendly and rapid service with reasonably price give an extra credits to the restaurant. :bow
