It was some time before 8.00am when we arrived at the restaurant, because we wanted to queue earlier for the admission tickets to the theme park, and our hotel was quite near to Hainan Kitchen Restaurant. And so, the restaurant was still quite empty. The crowds started to appear bit by bit after 8.00am, when we were about to leave.

These were probably one of the most pricey breakfast sets I have ever eaten in my entire life. RM11.90 for one breakfast set that came together with a cup of coffee, toast with butter and kaya, and two half-boiled eggs. Our wallets were definitely crying! Fortunately though, quality wise, everything was still within the standard.

The Black Coffee tasted just like a cup of Black Coffee. Nothing special about it.

I was quite surprised to see that the toast actually came together with butter and kaya, instead of margarine. It’s just like any other toasts that can be found in any kopitiam in Kuala Lumpur, but way overpriced.

In Genting Highlands, this would be a good place for a typical breakfast regardless of its ridiculous prices. Since I don’t travel to this top of the mountain that often, I might consider returning to the same place again someday, mainly because I have always loved simple breakfast like this.

Don and I walked around the First World Plaza to search for a good place for food. Since we just checked in to the hotel, we were both in hunger. We passed by this restaurant and decided that we should give it a second try to see if we will ever need to return again someday. Our conclusion? NO!

Because of the pricey items they have on the menu, we merely ordered a cup of Teh Tarik and Plain Water. It’s not surprising though, to have a cup of Teh Tarik at RM6. One can never expect much in Genting Highlands. It was definitely overpriced, I would say, in terms of quality served.

Don made a right choice by ordering Spicy Kung Poh Chicken at RM13. It may not be up to a certain standard, and I could definitely get to taste something much better near my house. Still, it was the best dish among all that were served on our table.

I had Salted Fish with Chicken at RM13. Honestly, it was so extremely salty and only huge pieces of chicken breast were served. I mean, I am always fine with chicken breast, although it will always be my last preferred choice, but my teeth were about to break as I chewed them. Imagine!

Apart from the food, the waiters and waitresses were all youngsters. Hence, the services provided were very disappointing. They were not attentive at all during our visit, and it seemed to me that they were working unwillingly.

In conclusion, I will stop visiting this restaurant and I would encourage you to give any other restaurants a try instead of Flavurs.

It has been a while since the day I started to have strong craving for Mille Crepe. The ones available at Ochado are never in my list, but since Don and I were killing time at Sunway Pyramid, we decided to give it a try to avoid boredom.

Usually, we would go for any kind of milk tea. This time in particular, we were on an adventurous mode, so we decided to try Grape Yogurt Aloe Vera Tea. I loved to bite the aloe vera lying underneath, but once is just enough for the cup of drink. I personally dislike the feeling my throat was having then, just because of the tea.

Unfortunately, Vanilla Mille Crepe was sold out, so we had no choice but to order Chocolate Mille Crepe instead. I thought it wasn't worth the penny. I would usually prefer to feel the layers of crepes as I bite it, but this piece of Chocolate Mille Crepe was slightly too sticky and not something I would want to eat ever again.

I have heard of positive comments about the milk tea offered by Ochado, so I guess I should just stick to it and forget about any other drinks available.

That night, I had a date with my girlfriends at Asia Cafe, a premier food court offering an array of food and beverages from all over the globe, including Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and the others. As usual, since I don’t usually come to this place due to its environment, I ordered Lemongrass Grilled Chicken with Rice from Vietnamese Cuisine. It was recommended by one of my friends.

I was disappointed when the food was served. The drumstick had shrunk compared to my previous experiences with the same stall. Taste wise, it was just okay. The smell and taste of lemongrass was nowhere to be found. I would say that I was basically eating Grilled Chicken with Rice, instead of Lemongrass Grilled Chicken with Rice.

Meh! I should start to consider giving the other food stalls a try.

The enterprise group, Watami Co., Ltd., was developed in 1984 and was listed on the Japan Exchange in March 2000. The core service of Watami group is in food service business. Besides, it is aggressively challenging to different areas of business such as "Agriculture", "Environment", "Education", and "Nursing home". More than 600 restaurants were developed in Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Shenzhen and Shanghai up to date. Each brand has its own characteristics to provide the multiplex choice for the customer.

Watami Japanese Casual Restaurant is a new type of tavern that concentrates on providing food with less emphasis on alcohol at affordable prices. It serves delicious Japanese food and drinks in a comfortable atmosphere. The dining environment is good for causal gathering and family. – Copied and edited from Watami Malaysia (http://www.watami.com.my/)

It wasn't really our first experience at Watami Japanese Casual Restaurant. We had our first try at One Utama Shopping Centre, and it was good although slightly overpriced.
Hot Green Tea

Hot Green Tea

As usual, a cup of Hot Green Tea would be the best drink to go along with Japanese cuisine. Don had Iced Green Tea instead, and both were refillable.

Thanks to Don for ordering their Zaru Soba, which is literally cold soba, it was exactly when I changed my impression on soba. Since young, I used to consider it as a weird dish with funny taste and I dared not try it, only to realize that I was totally wrong all the while. Dip the soba into the sauce and eat it right away, I'm sure you will be amazed by such delicacy.

According to him, as I never eat sashimi, the Salmon Sushi Don was a "thumbs up", while I would only prefer their Tamago Yaki, the egg rolls on the side.

I had my Eel Pot Rice, or Unagi Kamameshi, with an additional Fresh Egg. I loved it, although the process was threatening. I have mentioned that I was in hunger before settling down at Watami Japanese Casual Restaurant. When I placed my order, I was informed that I had to wait for 3 minutes before I could start eating my food, and I agreed. Apparently, the time I had to wait for my meal to be cooked was way more than merely 3 minutes! I felt cheated.

Still, it is recommendable if you do not mind having sticky rice, which is my favorite of all time. I did not regret adding the Fresh Egg right before it was completely cooked. The great smell of egg was just irresistible!

Priced at approximately RM41.50 per person, it had burnt a hole in his wallet. Despite so, I will still be sure to return occasionally. Ah, their Zaru Soba! lol
