Pommes Frites Bistro at Asian Avenue, Sunway Pyramid, has been one of our favorite places for an enjoyable and affordable Western meal, offering wide selection of spaghetti, pastas, and even freshly cut fries cooked in different styles. Honestly, we tend to experience hard times deciding on the most preferred choice from the menu during each of our visits. This particular time, however, was slightly different from the others. I was too full from my late lunch, so I couldn't help but to opt for a lighter meal, which was in fact not entirely light.I had my Regular Ultimate Clams cooked with mushrooms, shallots, garlic, parsley, and butter, served together with Belgian Fries with Mayo. I found the clams to be quite okay, although incomparable with those served at the seafood restaurants, except that they were not totally cooked. Soup wise, it could be so much closer to getting a "thumbs up" if the amount of salt added were to be reduced.

Pommes Frites Bistro is actually famous for its fries, and they are claimed to be freshly cut. Their Belgian Fries was definitely good in terms of taste and smell. My only advice for my fellow readers is to be aware of the type of sauce you order. I had Belgian Fries with Cheddar Cheese during my very first visit with Don, and I wasn't very happy with the outcome. It wasn't even appetizing at all, to be very frank.Don had Spaghetti Carbonara with Fried Chicken, if I'm not mistaken. I would usually prefer my spaghetti to be cooked with aglio olio, but here at Pommes Frites Bistro, regardless of its exaggerated portion, I loved their milky carbonara. Trust me, you can never say no to that!

In case you're curious about the term, "exaggerated portion", their portions for spaghetti are always huge enough to get your tummy stuffed to a maximum level. I'm serious!

Italiannies is a place I would rarely consider to go, unless I crave strongly for their Tiramisu, or during special occasions. This time, it was a birthday celebration for Don. We were both on a limited budget during our visit, so we preferred to go for their promotion. Each of us ordered a set meal that came with an appetizer and a main meal.Two different types of bread served together with olive oil and vinegar was complimentary, if I'm not mistaken. I had the bread alone without dipping into any of those as usual. It was soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. So satisfying!My Italian Clams Soup. This was my appetizer. It tasted more like a bowl of tomato soup. The clams were so small and it was pretty obvious that they were not fresh at all.Toasted Bruschetta. This was his appetizer but I didn't taste any because I didn't like tomatoes then.His Parmesan Crusted Fish. It was deep fried fish fillet served over red onion strings with white capers sauce. The fish tasted normal but I personally think the onions were delicious.My Risotto with Asparagus and Chicken. It may look good, but honestly, it was the worst choice I had ever made. I guess it was probably due to my own taste bud. Additionally, it was too oily and creamy to the extent that I nearly puked while eating. Only the chicken managed to satisfy me.

Also, the risotto seemed powdery but I'm not sure if it's normal or it's the chef's problem.Here comes the highlight of the day!

We added one Tiramisu into our order despite the bloated stomach. If you are a cake lover, you should definitely give it a try. The portion was huge too. As soon as I put a mouthful of the cake into my mouth, it melted immediately. It was extremely juicy because of the liqueur and espresso in it. Yummmmmmm!

I will be sure to return to any of its outlets again, for more Tiramisu!

My 2011 started off with nice foods at Lot 10 Hutong Heritage Food Village, a place that is similarly to any food courts, but with complicated arrangement that you might get lost inside. It's a place where different kinds of Chinese foods can be easily found, such as Fish Head Noodles, Pan Mee, Bak Kut Teh, and many more.Don had something called 三拼饭, which was actually Chicken Rice with three types of meats. There were two types of pork, known as Siew Yok and Char Siew respectively, and Roasted Duck. Frankly, the Char Siew was extremely delicious without too much fat. It cost him around RM14.00 per plate.I ordered a bowl of Noodles with Ricewine and Chicken. After eating a few mouthful of it, I personally thought that my grandma cooks the best of it indeed, because the smell would be way stronger than that of what I had in Lot 10 Hutong Heritage Food Village. But, I enjoyed the spiciness of the soup caused by the ginger inside even though I never like to eat ginger.

I am still looking forward to another day trip to Lot 10 Hutong Heritage Food Village even though I dislike the crowd in there. I am still yet to try out the other foods available within the small place!

Taiwanese cuisine seems to be something rather uncommon in Malaysia. Even if it is, the food quality may not be guaranteed, the portion size may be disappointing, or they may not offer anything that I truly fancy. For instance, I would never suggest XXL Crispy Chicken by Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks for its disgusting, weird, and smelly taste. Formosa, though, is so far the only one that I would highly recommend to give it a good try apart from Arisan at Taylor's University. Despite being operated by a group of foreigners, the food and services never fail to satisfy me during every visit.

On a side note, I have recently found out that Taiwan was historically known as "Ilha Formosa" by the Portuguese, which it literally means beautiful island.On that particular night, Don and I did not choose our usual set meals, but we wanted to have more than what our tummies could handle. Formosa offers a very wide selection of choices of set meals to be picked. Some of them may come with or without a cup of drink of your choice, and some may or may not include a bowl of rice. It's totally flexible in a way!

However, unless I need some cold drink to calm myself, I wouldn't prefer to have their Grass Jelly Milk Tea. It tasted like a cup of drink filled with flavoring essence.Each of us had a bowl of Braised Sauce Rice as usual, and added Braised Egg and Braised Taufu at RM3.00 in total. The first bite had indeed helped to make a life changing decision ever since; I will be sure to order all three of them every single time!Don preferred their Hot Crispy Chicken while I opted for Taiwanese Salted Chicken to save hassles. Both of them came with soft, tender, and juicy chicken meat covered with crispy outer layer, but cooked in different ways. They're definitely finger licking good!

Well, not to worry. The Hot Crispy Chicken wasn't too troublesome to be eaten, in fact. YOU MUST TRY!

In the afternoon right after Farah sent her mum back home in Cheras, she drove me to this restaurant with Muslim and Chinese cuisines, namely De Templer Restaurant, to fill up our tummies before we headed to Batu Caves. She said she wanted to bring me there and she said she felt good that she did it today. Thanks a gazillion, Farah. It's indeed a good recommendation to me, to be frank. All we had were only dim sums instead of other ala carte dishes but the dim sums were kind of huge that our tummies were bloated.This was a kind of transparent dumpling with awesomely fresh prawns and fresh scallops inside that cost me RM5.80, which was actually the most expensive dim sum among what I had ordered.I bet you have heard of Siew Mai, since it's the most famous kind of dim sum, but they're usually filled with pork. Nonetheless, this one that I had was filled with purely fresh prawns only. Yes, their prawns were all fresh and well-cooked.This was another kind of transparent dumpling with only fresh prawns inside, similarly to the Siew Mai filled with prawns above.This was undoubtedly Chee Cheong Fun with prawns inside. So many dishes with prawns within an hour! Oh yes, I love prawns but the fried onion on top sort of ruined the original taste of it, and it's slightly saltier than usual.My fried dumplings with more fresh prawns inside! In my opinion, it tasted better without the mayonnaise because I always prefer it to be original. Yes, this kind of fried dumplings seems to be one of my favorite dim sum but unfortunately, most of the dim sum restaurants mix the fillings with meats instead of purely prawns. After the only restaurant that has the yummiest fried dumplings with prawns back in Bandar Menjalara, De Templer Restaurant has definitely become my new love. Seeing this makes me think of announcing good news to all my readers, especially the Muslims. This is definitely a halal restaurant, so you need not worry about anything. All you have to do is step into the restaurant, get a place that you like, settle down, order whatever you want, and enjoy your meal. It's easy! ;)

I rated 4 over 5 for the dim sum but I'm not sure about the other foods they served because I have never tried any of them. Whilst for the services, I rated 3 over 5 because it's only slightly better than normal. What are you waiting for?
