Mee Jawa  Smile Jul 26, 2012   (Related Review)

Well, of course you need to try its famous Mee Jawa while you’re here. The big plate holds several condiments that come with the dish – cuttlefish sambal, fried shallots, hard-boiled egg and sliced tauhu. The chewy cuttlefish with sambal is thick and full of kick which gives out a sweet spicy flavour to it and best eaten when mixed together with the sourish gravy of mee jawa. The salad topping the dish also gives some crunchy greens and texture to the noodles and colour to the overall presentation of the dish. With the addition of the vegetables, it gives a refreshing aftertaste, which is light to the palate rather than heavy fishy taste.

Nasi Goreng Kampung Smile Jul 25, 2012   (Related Review)

Like all Asians, we tend to have rice for almost every meal. For an Asian touch, the Nasi Goreng Kampung is the one for you. Served with pappadam, cucumber pickles, sunny side up and two big deep fried prawns, the fried rice is flavourful with a hint of spiciness among chicken meat and kangkung while the anchovies gives a burst of saltiness here and there. It is quite a balanced meal with meat and vegetables thrown in together.

Curry Beef Rice Smile Jul 25, 2012   (Related Review)

The Curry Beef Rice here is a little disappointing. The beef slices are just too big. It’s actually quite tough to chew on. On the other hand, the curry is flavourful with the right sweetness and saltiness. Growing up on sambals and spicy food, I would prefer it to be a little spicier but the Japanese counterpart doesn’t think that way. Apart from the beef, the rest is quite good.

Hawaiian Burger  Smile Jul 25, 2012   (Related Review)

I liked New York New York Deli's bold colours of sofas. It also has a huge photo of New York overlooking the diners. Burger wise, the Hawaiian burger tasted good. The patty is quite thick too, which everyone loved. The slightly charred pineapple ring added a little Hawaiian touch to the burger as it exudes a sweet yet sourish taste to the savoury patty. The thick cut fries are a great addition to the meal too.

Beef Sukiyaki Smile Jul 25, 2012   (Related Review)

Another good dish here is the Beef Sukiyaki. The broth is sweet but not overly sweet. You might see that the ingredients are little but, as you cook and eat it, you’ll notice that it’s actually at the right portion. If you’re a big eater, you could order additional udon or rice with it. The beef slices are fresh and tasted good on its own when cooked in the broth. The best way to have it is to dip it into the raw egg. Ahhh, bliss.
