The Nest Chicken Rice Smile Mar 24, 2014
Categories : Chinese | Malay | Food court | Noodles | Nasi Lemak

The Nest Chicken Rice is a chicken rice stall near Selera Sim coffee shop. It is one of the most popular stalls in this area. The food here is not the "chicken rice" in its traditional sense. Instead, the menu mainly consists of chicken chop rice dishes.

I ordered the Special Set which includes most of the available ingredients. The highlight of the Special Set is the spicy breast meat chicken. The breast fillet is deep-fried with batter until it turns golden brown. The batter contains some spices, so the chicken can be a bit pungent.

Many Dim Sum Choices OK Mar 24, 2014
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Dim sum

Located along Macalister Road is a popular dim sum eatery called Dim Sum Food Restaurant. It uses the same premise as Town Steamboat Restaurant where the latter operates in the evening.

Contrary to what several bloggers reported, I don't think Dim Sum Food Restaurant is one of the cheapest dim sum eatery in Penang, but not unreasonably expensive either. There are some blemishes in terms of taste, but some dishes (e.g. Spicy Fish Dumpling and Century Egg Porridge) stand out and are recommended.

Nice Wan Tan Mee Smile Mar 24, 2014
Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam | Noodles

The Wan Tan Mee is the dry version as recommended by the stall operator. The wantan noodles are lightly tossed with oyster and soy sauce to give a mild sweet and salty flavor.

The wantan pieces are delightful and certainly the highlight of this dish. Filled with minced pork and coated with a nice layer of dough skin, the appeal of the wantan pieces should not be underestimated.
This dish is also accompanied with several pieces of barbecued pork and boiled pork.

Old Town Clone OK Mar 24, 2014

Set Meal Dcomprises of Nasi Rendang Chicken, Borsch Soup, Iced Soya Grass Jelly and some fruit.

The rendang chicken is done quite well. The chicken is reasonably tender and easy to chew. The chicken is drenched with thick rendang, which is rich in coconut milk and spices.

The chicken is served with a heap of pandan-flavored rice, boiled egg, anchovies, roasted peanuts, cucumber and sambal.

Lazy Day For Coffee Smile Mar 24, 2014
Categories : Western variety | Café | Burgers / Sandwiches | Halal

My destination for this relaxing afternoon is The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf near the main entrance of Straits Quay. In fact, Coffee Bean is the only store at this section of the mall.

My sugar-laced poison today is the Double Chocolate Peppermint Ice Blended. Using dark chocolate as its base, this is a nice non-caffeinated beverage to enjoy.
