roasted pork (siew yok) noodles  Smile Oct 29, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Chinese | Food court | Noodles

A plate of dry noodle which topped with generous amount of roast pork, tau fu pok and bean sprouts (taugeh), in mix of soy sauce and watery curry. Combination like this really makes the roast pork noodles irresistible. And for those who can't take spicy foods, you don't have to worry because the watery curry is not spicy. smile

Dark Vader and "Hot" Chick OK Oct 26, 2013

Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Burgers / Sandwiches

At present, there are uncountable burger joints in town serving decent burgers. Not sure if you know there is one in Kota Damansara too, the Bert's Jr. Gourmet Burger.

The first thing which caught my eyes when I step into Bert's Jr. Gourmet Burger was the colourful artwork on the wall. A really big piece of wall art done by a group of volunteered art college students. After several attempts to capture the whole piece of wall art by using the iPad panorama app, it turns out to be quite good with exception there is one part which blurry a little bit due to the light reflection.

Here is another photo to show you the interior of Bert's Jr. Gourmet Burger restaurant. The design is rather simple with no special theme. Please take note that you have to go to the counter to place your order and make payment. For your information, Bert's Jr. does not serve pork or alcohol on its menu. They serve only beef, lamb, fish and chicken.

Another good piece of art on the wall located next to the counter.

There are seven burgers under "The Big Eat" menu, burgers with special name which specially crafted for your craving: Dark Vader, Steamed beef burger, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Jaw Breaker, Grill'd Chicken, "Hot" Chick and Finding Dory (those in bold are the top sellers). Prices range from RM 13.90 to RM 21.90 for regular size, RM 9.90 to RM 17.90 for small size. You can add another RM 5 to make it a combo which comes with a soft drink and a side order.

"Hot" Chick RM 14.90 and the side dish, steakhouse fries. A burger of grilled chicken thigh marinated with black pepper sauce topped with chicken mushroom cold cuk and cheddar cheese, egg, green leaves, peeled tomato and caramelized onions. The buns were soft but best with charcoal bun. The grilled chicken thigh surprisingly turned out to be quite soft and juicy. The black pepper sauce somehow does not taste the same as any other black pepper sauce out there, not too pepper-ish. The other ingredients, especially the egg, added another flavour to the burger which make the burger overall an awesome combination. My friend enjoyed the burger very much. I never like chicken thigh burger this much too. Not to forget to mention, the fries were served fresh.

Dark Vader RM 16.90. A 200g premium beef patty burger topped with beef pepperoni cold cuk mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheese, green leaves, peeled tomato and caramelized onions. As for the side dishes, we opted for coleslaw and potato croquette. The beef patty is made of minced beef, hence it is really soft. Savoury, however, not juicy enough. There are two types of cheese but still the cheesiness not up to my satisfaction. Overall, this burger is still desirable. As for the cold coleslaw and potato croquette, they both taste good.

I will visit Bert's Jr. Gourmet Burger again for their Baa Baa Black Sheep because there are so many good comments on this burger.

Namoo On The Park is the first Korean dessert cafe and bistro in Malaysia. I'm not a person who fancy about Korean foods, but then Namoo On The Park did caught my attention. Namoo means “tree” in Korean. Hence, most of the decoration items in Namoo are made of wood and brown is the main color, which then give people a comfortable and natural feeling.

In addition to Korean specialty desserts (both warm and cold desserts), Namoo also serves some Korean main dishes (from rice and noodles to burgers). For a complete list of foods serve in Namoo, kindly refer to the two photos of menu below.Back to the foods, rice burger is the reason why we are here. Namoo serves only three type of rice burgers: Bibi rice Burger, beef rice burger and shrimp rice burger. We ordered the chef recommended Bibi Rice Burger (Grilled chicken breast and mixed vegetables with sesame Bibi sauce, served on a grilled rice bun and fried egg) which costs RM 19.90. The rice buns are sticky, firm and dense. The texture of the rice bun is similar to our local sticky rice in bamboo. Not sure what rice they are using to make the rice bun, but it contains sesame seeds and seaweeds which add extra flavours. This rice burger is good and irresistible. Not to forget to mention, the Bibi sauce gives you an overall sweet, sour and spicy mix of sensation.

Besides rice burger, we decided to order a cold dessert since Namoo is a Korean dessert cafe. Final decision goes to the chef recommended cold dessert with a bombastic name, The King's Bing Soo (RM 12.90). Bing Soo or Bingsu means shaved ice in Korean. It is one of the popular summer dessert in Korea. The King's Bing Soo is a green tea shaved ice with rice cakes, red beans, mix fruits (kiwi, strawberries and banana) and ice-cream sprinkled with multi-grain powder. A perfect combination because a person like me who hate red beans also can't resist this. The fruits are fresh.

Thumbs up! Both the rice burger and shaved ice really make my day.
Total spending: RM19.90 + RM12.90

Winter Lover Bakery House is located at Jalan PJU 5/21, Kota Damansara. It took me quite awhile to search for it because I hardly go to that area as opposed to Sunway Giza and it is located at upstairs of double storey shop lots. Please note that no shoes are allowed inside the bakery house, hence you need to take off and leave your shoes at the shoes rack.

The interior design of Winter Lover Bakery House is much similar to Full House or Garden Cafe but much simpler. It exhales tranquillity and relaxation, makes me feel so comfortable and blissful sitting in there. In addition, I like the wallpaper they used to decorate the plain wall. Here I included a few photos to share with you the interior design of this bakery, as below:

According to their Facebook page, they are a featured bakery house serving their specialty of Mille Crepe and macaroons. In addition, they are also making their effort to cultivate the flower tea culture in Petaling Jaya. For flower tea lovers, maybe you can give a try.

They are offering a variety of Mille Crepe (really a lots). For instance, oreo madness, French chestnut, banana & chocolate, original/vanilla, caramel macchiato, raspberry yogurt, hokkaido milk, citrus cheese, mango, 3 in 1 (vanilla, chocolate & strawberry), trio chocolate (white, milk, dark chocolate), tiramisu, strawberry, rum & raisins, baileys, matcha azuki, peanut blueberry, etc. We had a tough time to decide which two flavours to pick and then in the end.......... the gluttonousness chosen matcha azuki and musang durian king.

Musang Durian King Mille Crepe. It contains musang durian blended in fresh whipped cream. This Mille Crepe is their weekend special Mille Crepe, so not sure if they are selling this during weekdays. So blissfully happy that I came on Saturday and I had the chance to try this. The taste of durian is so appetizing. Both of us love every bites of this and the delicate texture of crepe. I'm sure I will come back again for this.

Matcha Azuki Mille Crepe (Matcha = green tea, Azuki = red bean). This Mille Crepe uses high quality of green tea powder imported from Japan and then blend together with red bean. I like green tea but not red bean (It was my friend who chosen this flavour). But surprisingly the combination of green tea and red bean in this way turns out to be so great. The taste is not so strong, not too sweet and very refreshing. You will definitely marvel at it in harmony of the combination.

As for the drink, not too much options. But I think they are offering good coffee such as toasted hazelnut coffee, arabica gold coffee, white coffee, dark coffee, and last but not least, the DURIAN COFFEE! I never heard about durian coffee. It is interesting to try it out and it tastes excellent (at least to me) with durian taste. But my body feels like it's heating up after a cup of this durian coffee. So I grabbed cooling water to relieve the body heatiness.

Other than coffee, they serves honey lime with jelly and passion fruit. We ordered passion fruit because my friend not really a big fans of coffee. Pleasant drink for a hot day.

I'm really in love with their Mille Crepe and I will definitely come back for more.

Coffee time at Butter + Beans OK Oct 04, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Western variety | Café | Sweets/Snack

Lately, I have been seeing so many pictures and friends check in at Butter + Beans. After surfing the internet only I know coffee and freshly baked pastries are what they are famous for.

So, I decided to drop by for the coffee as well as Ernest Zacharevic wall painting.

Butter + Beans is rather small (the size) as compared to other cafe. Three quarter of space inside is occupied by the pastries/coffee station. With that, you can imagine very limited seats are available. There are only two small wooden tables and one long table inside the cafe which I think can fit maximum only 8 persons. There are another 3 tables outside the cafe. Free wifi is available.

The most eye-catching decoration in the cafe would be the huge bear and drink menu drawing by chalk.

They have been featured in Time Out Kuala Lumpur.

Mocha RM 11. I like this mocha from the first sip to the end. I'm not a regular heavy coffee drinker and I barely accept coffee which is bitter. However, the taste of this mocha just nice for me to cope with - neither not too sweet nor too bitter.

Cappuccino RM 9. Rich tasting and hence the bitterness. Not so pleasing to my taste buds but my friend likes it this way.

Raspberry orchid cake which caught my attention (RM10). Slightly dry and "powdery" but delicious. Besides cakes, Butter + Beans is offering a varieties of freshly baked pastries and breads such as croissant, Raspberry tart, cinnamon roll, fig tart etc.

Recommended Dish(es):  Mocha,Raspberry orchid cake

Spending per head: Approximately RM20(下午茶)
