Having Naan in comfort Smile May 15, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Indian | Restaurant | Seafood | Halal

The reason I like naan is that it is always served fresh, unlike Roti Canai, which half the time are fried and lie in a heap, waiting for cusomers.

Plain naan and butter naan are what we have tried here and find them to be as what we like. Soft, easy to break apart into mouthful portion. In fact the taste is good enough to eat on its own, without any dip.

Prices here are reasonable and nett as shown in the menu. Nice air-con and clean environment, a pleasant change from the mamak stalls.

Nicely air-conditioned restaurant and clean. They do have non-aircon seating for customers who appreciates the outdoors (under shade).

They serve simple but delicious dishes from Paratha, Sandwiches, Nasi Lemak, Curry Noodles to Curry Fish head. Drinks are the usual with the addition of a selection of Lassis.

My personal favourites are Special Lassi, Lime Juice, Tandoori Chicken Sandwich, Nasi Lemak Ayam (Goreng), Curry Fish Head.

I won't bore you with the details, try it out and see if you like the food, recognising the fact that taste is very individual.

For the entire month of May and June 2013, there is a 50% promotion on Nasi Lemak, Claypot Chicken and Claypot Lamb. Paratha and Teh Tarik are at Rm 1.00 each.

All prices are nett.

Enjoy and Share!

Consistent quality among branches Smile May 14, 2013

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Bak Kut Teh

There are many Bak Kut Teh shops in Johor and some even have similar names that can overwhelm a new foodie in town.

While I have not completely tasted all available shops here, most of the well known ones I have tried. Shoon Huat is the one with a chain of shops in many locations in Johor. I am surprised that it can maintain a rather consistent quality across them, a thing that even big brands sometimes cannot accomplish.

I like its soup, not overwhelmed with herbal aroma, and yet not diluted. The ribs are cooked just right and soup can be topped up. Prices are displayed clearly on the wall.

It just makes me very comfortable to dine here.

Not for me. Cry May 14, 2013

We patronised during the set lunch promotion and expected "set" portion too. To me, it is a good opportunity for both restaurant and customers. Restaurant can increase awareness of their menu. Customers can try out a good sampling of the menu at an affordable price. I likened it to the first episode of a new drama or sitcom, that important.

The drinks were watered down, a put off. Baby ribs sauce was too tangy for me. The fish and chicken were average and ordinary. The black pepper sauce were weak too.

Mini Pot Steamboat Smile May 14, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Steamboat/Hotpot

The restaurant is very well decorated and furnished, with a nice ambience. Seating is well spaced too. We tried the mini pot steamboat and they have a good selection of soup base.

The mala spicy soup and milk based soup were both flavorful. Being a mini pot, it is suitable for customers that prefer not to share saliva with others, heh heh, and is able to choose the cooking order. Each set of ingredients are one person portion, quite balanced.

They also provide a good range of sauce and dips for customers to mix and concoct to personal favourite taste.

I just loved to have steamboat in a cool air-conditioned place, and this is one good option.
