Steamed Prawns with Garlic

Steamed Prawns with Garlic

Another dish from Putien which I personally fond of was this garlic prawn. The presentation was very inviting. The prawns were whole cut deveined, means eating prawns were less effortless. Loaded with chunks of garlic, it was just as simple as it is named. The prawns were not the best grade but at least it wasn't artificially made-fresh (chemical involved).

Steamed Vegetable Roll with Rice Skin

Steamed Vegetable Roll with Rice Skin

Some believe that mild dish is healthier. Well, they could be right, as the usage of MSG or similar might be reduced. However as much as I believe in healthy diet, flavor shouldn't be something to be compromised. This rice roll was a rather mild dish. The rice skin was see through, which was good. However, flavor wise, the filling was too mild to be appealing but the use of soy sauce did help.
 Steamed Vegetable Dumpling with Pumpkin

The presentation looked very good but it was very mild and the thick layer of crystal skin did not appeal to me. Prefer the filling to be more flavorful instead.

Steamed Glutinous Rice with Lotus Leave

Steamed Glutinous Rice with Lotus Leave

Usually people think vegetarian dish is dull but as far as glutinous rice could be, I think this vegetarian glutinous rice was very flavorful. I like glutinous rice to be not too soft and perhaps a little hard. This glutinous rice was the exact texture I like it to be. The flavor was savory and peppery, which I found it easier to finish it. The use of lotus leave gave it a very aromatic fragrance as you dig into it. Good one!

Deep Fried Mango Prawn

Deep Fried Mango Prawn

The idea was interesting I must say. Flavor wise, it was not so ideal as I could taste the prawn and mango separately due to uneven distribution. Prawn was artificially made fresh, the mango wasn't too good after being cooked. Crispy but fillings wasn't that good. [RM3]
Steamed Bean Curd Skin Roll with Oyster Sauce

Steamed Bean Curd Skin Roll with Oyster Sauce

Nothing special about this dish. Just like normal fu chuk with fillings, or yong tau fu. Predictable and nothing to shout about. [RM3]

Lao Sa Pao

Lao Sa Pao

The best lao sa pao is in Jin Xuan. I fell in love the first time I had it here with my colleagues. I love the fact it leaks when you break it. The bun was very fluffy and soaked with the salted egg and custard cream in it. The salted egg and custard was very dense which made it felt good on your tongue due to the essence of salted egg.

The staple dim sum was not too bad. Good that they served it while it was steaming hot. The last I had in Kuchai Lama's branch, it was terrible beyond imagination!
