Gym Junkie [RM13.50]

Gym Junkie [RM13.50]

Gym Junkie used to be one of my post work out drink. I remembered it to be thick, banana-ish and tasted strongly of vanilla. This was more or less the same, except that the banana was too raw that it gave me unpleasant experience. Greedy me asked for more vanilla yoghurt and less ice, which I would believe it made the vanilla taste so overwhelming and less delightful. I would give it another try by not asking for customization, it might taste better that way.

Hokkien Prawn Mee? Cry Jul 27, 2012   (Related Review)

Hokkien Prawn Mee

Hokkien Prawn Mee

Hokkien prawn mee is something unfamiliar to me. I surely hope they are doing it differently instead of just throwing prawns in and claiming it is hokkien prawn mee. First of all, the portion and condiments were very pathetic. Mainly made up by yellow noodle, it was considerably mild and almost bland. If it weren't because of the chili paste, it would be hard for me to finish.

Tasteless braised duck Cry Jul 27, 2012

Teo Chew Braised Duck Rice Set [RM8.50]

Teo Chew Braised Duck Rice Set [RM8.50]

Duck is a tricky animal to cook besides lamb. It has the gaminess which most places couldn't counter it right. So is Auntie Sim. Though it was braised, the duck breast presented more resistance than I expected. Moreover, it was not salty enough. Thus it couldn't even counter the unpleasant smell of duck. The tau fu was soft and very flavorful in contrary. The egg was tender but not flavorful enough.

Cekodok & Curry Puff

Cekodok & Curry Puff

Sitting right beside the curry puff was cekodok pisang, which was my favorite snack from AJ. The look of curry puff was hinting me about what has it got to offer and I was right. I was disappointed by the soggy skin. To me, a curry puff should be puffy and light, not soggy and dense. The filling was decent though as it was not too spicy and at the same time, I could taste the potato cubes.

Inari Tuna Salad [RM3.80]

Inari Tuna Salad [RM3.80]

Tuna in the can is not even as bad as this. Can you imagine how coarse and dry it was? I thought it could not gone wrong as it was as common as tuna with mayonnaise but I was wrong! I could taste the presence of mayonnaise or similar which gave the sushi some creaminess but it seemed to help the rice rather than the tuna. Rough and almost bland, it was the worst tuna salad sushi I have ever had.
