Mung Bean Cream : :( Cry Jul 09, 2012

Mung Bean Cream

Mung Bean Cream

Mung Bean is known as green bean. So basically this is a green bean tong sui. Personally I like green bean tong sui but not my favorite. This mung bean cream was bitter due to the use of mandarin skin peel. It tasted so awful and stole the limelight from mung bean itself. The texture was smooth but the taste was just too bad to finish.

Edamame

Edamame

The last time I had my first edamame at Shuraku, I fell in love with it instantly. I remembered it to be salty and crunchy, which went very well with sake. Edamame is immature soy bean which is boiled with condiments to inject flavour into it. The pod itself can be eaten or be thrown away and I did the latter. However when I tried the edamame here, I was disappointed. Though it was crunchy but it just lacked the flavour.

Curry Beef Noodle

Curry Beef Noodle

It is quite rare that I have curry beef noodle and this was my first time having one. The curry was too oily but it wasn't dense at all. The meat was tender enough but at the same time the bowl was mostly filled with innards, which I never like it at all. I forced myself to try but ended up feeling unsatisfied. It was just not my thing.

Ginseng Oolong Tea

Ginseng Oolong Tea

My perception of oolong is it has a bitter character, so is Ginseng. However Wikipedia says it could be sweet and fruity. So I believe that was why my ginseng oolong tea was sweet. The tea leaves were rolled, which was purposefully to let the tea leaves to blend in faster. I found it hard to finish due to its sweetness and I wonder how the ginseng come about hmm... In short, it was a sweet tea which I wouldn't order it again.

Seaweed & Egg Mian Fen Guo [RM9.90]

Seaweed & Egg Mian Fen Guo [RM9.90]

Those who know me well will say I'm pan mee queen. I wouldn't deny by default. The last I tried their sambal chili shrimp pan mee, I was delighted. This time I decided to try their soup version and I had seaweed and egg pan mee. The portion was pretty generous. However the noodle was just bland and almost no character. The seaweed seemed to just so accidentally be part of the noodle, so was the egg. The noodle texture was normal just like the previous one. Overall, this was a big disappointment.
