Garden Chicken Smile Dec 28, 2013
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Noodles

a day before departing to Shanghai, Kaiye brought me to one of his favourite makan place in SS2 since we were there to run some errands. the last time we dined together was at a Chinese restaurant in Sungai Buloh 3 months ago!

i love food hunting with Kaiye because he advocates healthy food! even though he and kaima eat out most of the time, they usually patron makan places which the food contains less MSG or less oil or less processed.

Restoran Prosperity Bowl is a Chinese restaurant which their main selling point is *points at the wall*, chicken! not your usual chicken though..

it’s garden chicken 菜园鸡 which is free from growth hormones/vaccines, and their flesh is meaty and lean because they get to roam around instead of being coop up in narrow fences. i suppose it’s considered as free-range poultry, correct me if i’m wrong.

menu on the wall and also their slogan, sort of, which literally translates to

we don’t want to be the biggest (in the market), but we want to be the best!

that’s the spirit huh!

attached their menu here (click it to a bigger photo size) because i wasn’t the one paying hehe

Village Chicken (thigh part) {highly recommended}
no one should walk out Restoran Prosperity Bowl without ordering their signature dish! NO ONE. the meat texture is exactly what they claim, lean, meaty (yet tender), succulent. you can have it as it is, or complement it with a plate of rice (chicken + rice only RM 6). we weren’t in the mood for rice..

so Kaima had dry koay teow,

while Kaiye and i had soupy koay teow.

the noodle was like hor fun, same thing as what you’ll get in Ipoh, smooth and silky.

we also ordered a few side dishes..

Braised Chicken Feet with Mushroom | RM 6 {recommended}
these were well-braised! flavourful and suck-culent

Fish Balls | RM 3 {recommended]
springy balls. not fishy at all.

Bean Sprouts | RM 3
of course i would prefer Ipoh’s stubby and juicy bean sprout anytime! hehe

i don’t know the total amount paid for this meal, but judging from their menu, it’s pretty reasonable. better quality poultry is used here and price is not compromised. surprisingly not many bloggers blogged about this eatery before.

Hanjuku Cheese! Smile Jul 22, 2013

found a box of this Komugis Hanjuku Cheese cake (or stick) in the fridge. i had one and OMG it’s sooooo light, creamy, moist & fluffy! it melts instantly in your mouth! and due to the fact that it's light, you can easily nom three pieces at one go! i'm not too sure about the price, but it's totally worth it i can assure you!

it's made in Japan, a nation who's health-conscious, so i assume the calories is not really high. i think.

Categories : Malay | Restaurant | Noodles | Nasi Lemak

apparently it IS famous! it was packed to the brim that day cos obviously it’s lunchy time *smack forehead* luckily there’s one empty table when we stepped in*phew*.and look there’s a standing fan outside, the proprietor so considerate. plus points.

the menu.

we ordered nasi lemak, of course, with ayam goreng as side.

there’s also some other dishes to add-on to your nasi lemak, with additional cost.

THE ayam goreng…

throughout our makan session, the sound of chopping was non-freaking-stop! just imagine how good their business is…

Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng | RM 8
a plate of nasi lemak ayan goreng comes with a handful of peanuts and ikan bilis, cucumer, a halved hard-boiled egg, a dollop of sambal and a huge fried chicken drumstick!

drumstick is the only chicken part available by the way.

sambal and rice is the most important component in nasi lemak, in my opinion la. the rice here was fluffy and fragrant with santan however the sambal was on the sweet side, and not spicy. child-friendly! i wish it to be spicier though.

fried chicken was good! crisp on the inside and still remain moist on the inside. unlike those we had at nasi kandar! the skin was flavourful, must be the spices they use to marinate the chickens. yeah, me, who usually frown at the sight of skin (be it from fish, pork or chicken), had a bite too, it looks toooo inviting. hehe.

Yummy Western Food Smile Sep 30, 2013

Categories : Western variety | Café | Steaks / Chops | Burgers / Sandwiches

it was a late afternoon on a Saturday early this year, the boyf and i were strolling around Bangsar Village. “What’s up for dinner, baby?” asked the boyf. first thing that registered in my mind was PLAN B! have read so many many reviews on it and i was itching to try it out!

we opted for an al-fresco seating as it was pretty crowded indoor. the interior of this cafe actually gives me a rustic feel, very vintage and raw.

a piles of paper kiaped with a dog clip to a wood plank, there you have the menu. you can find a wide variety of American breakfast sets, pasta, salads, desserts and cake on the menu.

Wild Mushroom Soup | RM 10
tiny bits of assorted mushrooms in every mouth. creamy and yum.

can see the amber bottle in the background? reminded me of lab glasswares. haha. they use it to store sky juice.

Chargrilled Cheeseburger | RM 23
juicy homemade patty with a slice of cheddar. fries and onion rings as sides.

the way they present the food is berry western. like one you’ll get in Aussie or New York.

the boyf said this was good. the portion was a tad small though. the onion rings can totally be forgone.

Asian-Style Golden Softshelled Crab Pasta | RM22
spaghetti drenched in creamy butter sauce with chilli padi, crispy curry leaves, pinches of chilli flakes, topped with softshelled crab. it was a recommendation from the waiter. the flavour is a bit playful. creamy with a tinge of spiciness.

(off-focus) Spicy Buffalo Wings | RM16
this dish comes with zucchini, celery sticks, and a blue cheese dip. wings were good yet sinful. cos there’s a pool of oil at the bottom of the bowl :/

will definitely pop by for their eggs benedict!

Super Fresh Steamed Fish Smile Sep 30, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood

Restoran Lan Je is my kaiye's favourite makan place whenever he’s in Rawang for business meeting.

we were there at off-peak hour, still it’s packed to the brim.

Steamed Tilapia | RM 14.50 onwards
this is their signature dish! steamed tilapia drenched in soy sauce (and some other secret sauces i think) with loads finely chopped garlic, ginger, chilli padi decorated with julienne spring onion. yesh, tilapia is the only fish available here.

the fish was berry fresh. flesh remained soft, and the slightly spicy sauce really complement the flesh berry well, not too overpowering! ngam ngam hou
if you don’t know, the fish is not meant to be shared. one per person, that’s how people enjoy the fish wholly.

we also ordered a plate of green to makan together with the fish!

i have been here few times, and their quality has always been consistent. Kaiye said the one at Kota Damansara was not so delicious though. so yeah, head down right here if you want the best steamed fish!
