Root Patisseries Café, one of the most popular hangout spot in Melaka that draws a lot of attention from people because of their cakes and pastries. This café is being featured in many blog posts as well as magazines, it receives good reviews from people who ever paid a visit here.

This café is owned by a local family who has big passion in desserts and coffee making. People claims that they serve the best desserts in town!

A huge selection ranging from cupcakes, crumble tarts, lava cakes, pies and many more! Just take a glance of the display counter and I’m already spoilt for choices.

Cakes and Macaroons. They serve both sweet and savory dessert, you name it, and they have it.

They are good in coffee making as well! A cuppa of hot cappuccino with beautiful coffee art, alongside with a small piece of biscuit to go with your coffee. Super aromatic and it’s indeed something perfect for a chilling afternoon.

Blue berries crumble tart. Crunchy crust with blue berries pastes stuffed in between, surprisingly it’s served warm! The blue berries are sweet and it matches well with the tart, it will get you hooked on your first bite.

All plates cleared quickly! Besides, it’s also a photogenic café for you to take a few shots. Drag along your bff and enjoy a serene afternoon here!

Plat Kitchen OK May 24, 2016

Categories : Western variety | Café | Pizza/Pasta | Desserts

Even though the café is not located at the main road, Plat Kitchen still draws many café-hoppers to drop by and have a sip of coffee.

Upon entering, you will be attracted by their unique interiors. Navy blue is their main decoration color and almost every spot over there is photo-worthy.They serve a wide range of food in their menu, ranging from pasta, desserts, breakfast set, sandwiches and many more! Besides typical coffee, they offer an array of milkshake, chocolate drinks and tea as well.

As an ultimate fan of matcha, I went for their sizzling matcha brownie. A piece of matcha brownie is served on a sizzling hot plate, topped with a scoop of ice cream and biscuit. The staff then poured one small cup of matcha sauce over the dessert, and you can enjoy the “sizzling” sound while letting your brownie to slowly absorb the sauce.

The matcha brownie was a bit overrated. The brownie turned out to be a bit dry, it would be better if it has moisture-er texture. Sweetness was just right, the sauce can be more matcha-ish to create a heavier taste of matcha.

Besides, I ordered their matcha latte as well. The latte was super rich and have strong flavour of matcha, it tasted really silky. The price is reasonable for a rich latte like this.

You will be able to enjoy serenity here during weekdays, where a few tables are occupied by the patrons, chatting over their daily lifes and random thoughts. Indeed an ideal place for you to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Spending per head: Approximately RM18(宵夜)

Delectable Pork Chop Noodle Smile Jun 22, 2016
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Restaurant | Noodles

Heng Long Taiwan Mee, located at Gajah Berang near Catholic High School, serves the best pork chop noodle and beef noodle in town.

This coffee shop has more than 40 years of history, they draws local patrons as well as tourists everyday to try out their noodles. Even the taukeh boss is 84 years old but he still be at the shop everyday to manage the business and guide his workers.

The shop is not that spacious and it consists of limited tables, be sure to come earlier because you might have to wait for empty tables during lunch hour, even on weekdays.

You can get a bowl of small size pork chop noodle at RM5, comes with deep fried pork chop with spring onions sprinkle on top. Their noodle is one of the best noodles I've ever tasted, it looks like flat pan mee, but way more silkier than pan mee, you can just slurp your noodle and eat, the texture is so good and sprincy.

I like to soak the fried pork chops into the noodle sauce for them to absorb the taste of the sauce, though it becomes not that crispy but it tastes super juicy and succulent, the meat is tender and the juice keep oozing out in your mouth.

Their home-recipe chili sauce is also their highlight, it's so aromatic with a mild spiciness, it spices up your meal as well as your appetize.

Besides pork chop noodle, they serve spciy beef noodle and pork trotter noodle as well. You can also opt for their side dishes such as fried pork chop, salted vegetables and pork trotter.

Kopitiam style Big Breakfast  Smile Jun 20, 2016

Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam

I've wrote about having western style big breakfast at Soon Yen Kopitiam to kick start your day and guess what, I've discovered another kopitiam style big breakfast with really affordable price! No one can resisit a hearty and healthy breakfast in the morning!Chop Beeng Cheong restaurant, serve you the best wan tan mee at night, and they open in the morning selling breakfast as well. By passing through the restaurant, you will be able to spot a big banner indicating that they sell western breakfast there. The breakfast stall is owned by "Fat Mao", which believe to be handled by a pair of young couple, ready to serve you different kind of western breakfast.

Signature Big Breakfast (small size) comes with scramble eggs, sausage, baked beans, hashbrown, toast bread and butter. Their big breakfast comes in two size, you can get the smaller one at Rm4.5, while for the bigger size, you will get served with extra ham slice and of course, bigger portion.

I think no one can mess up big breakfast and everything on the plate tastes pretty good. I particularly love their scramble eggs, the texture is really moist. Besides, they use quality baked beans as well.

If you are not a fan of big breakfast, they do have other selections including burger, pork cullet, cheese omellete and many more!

Pumpkin noodles and fried wan ton OK Jun 14, 2016

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Noodles

Most of you might get boring to eat the same kind of noodles every day, wanna to try something different to give your taste bud a break from the normal noodles? Have you ever heard of Spinach Noodles or Pumpkin Noodles?

A wooden stall which is located at Taman Kerjasama (Turn into the road when you see Petronas petrol station, go straight and you’ll be able to spot the stall), serves you different kind of noodles ranging from herbal noodles, spinach noodles, pumpkin noodles as well as Chinese style snacks such as dumpling and fried wanton.

This open-space stall is built under a big tree, owned by the locals, not only draw students from MMU University, but also office workers during lunch hour.

The owner makes their own noodles every day, using fresh ingredients such as pumpkin and spinach. They run out of spinach during my visit, hence I went for their pumpkin noodles.

The handmade noodles are served with minced pork, vegetables, chili pastes and three pieces of fried wan ton. Though it’s made from pumpkin, but the color of the noodles are similar to wan ton noodles. The thickness of the noodles is very thin, the texture is good and springy, but some of the noodles might stick together so make sure you toss them properly before eating.

We can’t really taste the pumpkin flavor from the noodles; the fried wan ton is super crispy, but a bit salty for our liking. The noodles come in small (Rm4) and big size (Rm5), the portion of small size might be too small for big eater.

On a brighter note, since it’s made from fresh vege, the noodles are very healthy to eat. Do come early as their signature noodles sold out pretty fast.
