First salted egg yolk croissants, then burger, then molten cake with ice cream. And now it’s salted egg yolk waffle with ice cream!?! The salted egg yolk craze will never end!!

Adding salted egg yolk into our food is becoming a trend and everyone seems to love it a lot. I managed to try out all different kinds of innovative salted egg yolk food, and I succeeded in trying out salted egg yolk waffles with ice cream as well!

Inside Scoop was jumping into the salted egg yolk bandwagon as well, never fail to keep up with our taste preferences. I got the opportunity to try out their salted egg yolk waffles with ice cream that day and I must say, I wasn’t impress much.

The charcoal waffles were soft and fluffy but wasn’t as crispy as how I wanted my waffles to be. There were some salted egg yolk drizzle across the waffles and some of the salted egg yolk flavour was placed into a syringe. It was expected of you to inject out the salted egg yolk flavour around the waffles. The amount of salted egg yolk flavour was really minimal, it’s basically just like normal waffles with chocolate ice cream with an extra punch of salted egg yolk flavour. RM17 for that dish was quite pricey for just one scoop of ice cream and waffles with a little bit of salted egg yolk flavour. Thus, I wasn’t really satisfied with this salted egg yolk dish.

Bull frog porridge! Smile Mar 09, 2016

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Porridge

I’m a big fan of bull frogs and I love having them with porridge! Many people might find eating bull frog is disgusting and gross, but to me, they are really tasty.
My partner brought me this restaurant called 大树头 (Restaurant DST) the other day because he heard that they serve really delicious bull frog! So we decided to give a try and the food really did not disappoint me at all!! In fact, I enjoyed my meal a lot and even had 2 bowls of rice!!

We ordered their chef recommendation dish which is the kung po bull frog. Apart from that, we ordered the kung po chicken, stir fried eggs with black fungus, yaw mak and salted egg yolk prawns. We ordered too much for just the 2 of us but surprisingly we managed to finish everything. The kung po bull frog was really spicy because there were quite a lot of dry chillies and spices in it. Eventhough the bull frog was really smooth and juicy, the kung po flavour was really overpowering thus I can’t taste the natural sweetness from the bull frog itself. Despite the spiciness, the dish really open up my taste buds and tasted really good.

The kung po chicken tasted good too, but I prefer the kung po bull frog more. The stir fried eggs with black fungus was really flavourful! The eggs were light and fluffy and complemented the black fungus really well. That dish was really affordable too! Only RM 8 for such an appetising dish!! The salted egg yolk prawns was another dish that we enjoyed as well. The prawns were huge and very fresh! The dish had just the right amount of salted egg yolk flavour and it was a finger licking good dish!

It was a scrumptious and satisfying meal and I would definitely come back here again!

Nam Heong Smile Feb 22, 2016

I got the chance to visit a newly opened mall near my neighbourhood called Da Men. My dad and I were planning to have lunch there and we had no idea what should we eat. And then Nam Heong caught our eyes. The queue was quite long and it gave us the impression that it is quite popular. Probably the food there is good? Probably the food is cheap? There’s only one way to find out, that is to try it out!

The ambience of the restaurant was really nice, and it gives me the expensive feel. We ordered our food through a tablet, I ordered the Ipoh Shredded Chicken Hor Fun and my dad ordered their wan tan mee. Surprisingly, the price was quite reasonable for such a good environment to dine in!! My bowl of hor fun was RM 8.90 and it was served in a really nice porcelain bowl! The noodles looked really good and it made my mouth watered instantly. The soup was not bland, in fact the flavours were really good! The prawns were fresh and big too.

My dad’s wan tan mee was RM7.90 and the noodles looked so good on the lovely plate. However, the portion was quite small and it doesn’t fill up our tummies. Overall, it is a nice dining experience and I guess we are paying more for the ambience.

Comfort Food Smile Feb 19, 2016

Uncle Lim’s Café is our place to go for lunch whenever my partner and I wants to watch a movie at Subang Parade. They serve relatively good quality food and the environment of the café is fairly clean and comfortable. It is an open air café situated in the centre of the ground floor of the mall, thus it will be quite easy to spot.

My partner ordered the fish porridge as he was feeling under the weather and the aroma of the fish porridge was really good. The portion was quite big too and the taste was fresh and sweet. My partner loves their porridge very much.

As for me, I ordered their assam laksa, which was surprisingly quite food. The spiciness and sourness and sweetness was quite well balanced but I prefer it to be more spicy and sour. The flavour was great and I could find lots of fish in my bowl of assam laksa.
Overall it was a satisfying and comfort meal and I wouldn’t stop myself from going there!

Of xiao long baos and noodles Smile Feb 19, 2016

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Noodles | Dim sum

My dad and I decided to have dinner at Sunway Pyramid the other day and we couldn't make up our minds what to have for dinner. In the end I suggested we have dinner at Dragon I because I was craving for their xiao long bao (steamed soup dumplings ). Despite the long queue due to Chinese New Year, my dad and I got seated quickly because their turnover rate was really high. The place was spacious and they fully utilise every corner by putting small tables that will cater a place for 2 person.

I ordered the braised pork ribs noodles while my dad ordered the spicy Sichuan seafood noodles. Initially I wanted to order that too but I insisted not to order the same food as my dad as I want to try more new food. We also ordered xiao long bao because it is a must order when you’re dining at Dragon I!!!

Their steamed soup dumplings were really delicious. Upon taking the first bite you can feel the flavour of pork and soup bursting in your mouth. Every element of the xiao long bao complements each other well and it’s like music to my mouth. Xiao long bao must always go with the vinegar! This will elevate the flavour of the dumplings.
As for my braised pork ribs noodle, I like how the broth was not too oily and not too salty, because a dish similar to this might get very salty. The pork ribs was tender and juicy and succulent! And the noodles were just simply chewy and I really love the texture of it. Overall it was a good dish.

According to my dad, he really loved the Sichuan seafood noodles as the flavours were good and the dish was really spicy! Thus, it is recommended to try the Sichuan Noodles!
