Kampar Old Town Smile Mar 16, 2016

Whenever I’m indecisive as to what I’m going to eat for lunch, I will always turn to prawn noodles! Kampar Old Town is just a stone’s throw away from my house thus I’m considered a frequent customer. The prawn noodles there is one of the best prawn noodles I’ve ever tasted. Although the price is slightly pricier than the prawn noodles you eat in hawker stalls, the taste was not compromised. For RM 7.90 per bowl, you will get the enjoy the mee hoon soaked in aromatic richly flavoured prawn soup, served with prawns, pork slices, fish cake slices, kangkung, egg and bean sprouts topped with fried shallots. One thing I love about their prawn noodles is their soy egg!! The soy egg was really flavourful and I love the fact that they serve soy egg in my prawn noodles rather than just ordinary boiled egg.

My dad on the other hand ordered their set lunch for the day, which was steamed minced pork with mui choy, rice, vegetables of the day and a choice of barley or herbal drink. The portion was just right for a person and I think the price was rather reasonable for so many components.

Coconut ice creamm! Smile Mar 15, 2016

Sangkaya has always been my favourite ice cream place especially when I’m craving for some coconut ice cream to quench my thirst on a hot sunny day! In fact, every day in Malaysia is hot and sunny thus I would actually have ice cream everyday if I could.
My cousins and I went to have ice cream because we had nothing much to do at home thus decided to catch up over ice cream! We ordered the signature 4 scoops of premium coconut ice cream with coconut flakes, roasted peanuts and cereal as our toppings served on a coconut husk with fresh strips. The coconut ice cream was really refreshing and really a thirst quencher! I simply loved how the flavour of the coconut was subtle yet rich. The ice cream was fragrant as well, as though every bite I take I’m tasting 10 coconuts at once.
Apart from that, we also ordered the signature cha yen ice cream which also comes in 4 scoops and 3 toppings. The Cha Yen ice cream was Thai milk tea infused in coconut ice cream. I can say it was a disappointment. We had the same toppings for this cha yen ice cream but to me the cha yen doesn’t stand out much. The ‘teh’ flavour was bland and not rich enough for me. Both ice cream costed RM 10.90 each and I think the price is okay considering there were 4 scoops of ice cream.

Crazy about Ramen! Smile Mar 14, 2016

My dad and I went to the newly open mall, Da Men for lunch and we discovered a gem at the highest level of the mall. This ramen place was really hidden in a corner of the highest level of the mall and we were grateful that we found it! Crazy Ramen Onizo serves one of the best ramen I’ve ever tasted. I personally prefer udon to ramen, but Crazy Ramen Onizo made me fell in love with ramen!!

My dad ordered the black garlic pork soup ramen. As for me, I had the spicy pork soup ramen. Both dishes comprised of ramen noodles, spring onion, black fungus and pork shoulder. The one thing that differentiate the two dishes is the soup. I’ve never heard of black garlic pork soup served with ramen thus I was abit sceptical and unsure at first. Turns out the soup was amazing, it tasted so good and the flavours were out of this world! A must try for ramen lovers! I loved my spicy pork soup ramen, the spiciness was just to my liking. The ramen noodles were springy and “slithered” smoothly in my mouth!! Both bowls of ramen costed RM 18 which I thought was quite reasonable given the fact that the noodles tasted really good.
We were given 2 glasses of free green tea because we have liked their Facebook page!

Natural Frozen Yogurt! Smile Mar 12, 2016

Llao Llao took the frozen yogurt sector by storm and today I finally got the opportunity to find out what the reason why everyone is crazy over this frozen yogurt. Founded in Spain, the creamy and light texture of the yogurt is probably the main reason why everyone has been loving Llao Llao. I wanted my frozen yogurt in a small cup with one topping. That costed me RM 10.90. To me I think it was worth the money because they gave quite a generously amount of yogurt for a small cup and most importantly, it tasted really good. As for the medium size, it would cost RM 14.90and RM 18.90 for the large cup with 3 toppings.

In my opinion, the yogurt tasted really good and complemented my topping which was the oreo crumbs. It felt like having cookies and cream ice cream but in a frozen yogurt way and I simply loved it. The yogurt itself was really delicious, just the right amount of sweetness and was really a cup of goodness. I enjoyed every spoon of my frozen yogurt and now I know why everyone has been loving it!

Bull frog porridge! Smile Mar 09, 2016
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Porridge

I’m a big fan of bull frogs and I love having them with porridge! Many people might find eating bull frog is disgusting and gross, but to me, they are really tasty.
My partner brought me this restaurant called 大树头 (Restaurant DST) the other day because he heard that they serve really delicious bull frog! So we decided to give a try and the food really did not disappoint me at all!! In fact, I enjoyed my meal a lot and even had 2 bowls of rice!!

We ordered their chef recommendation dish which is the kung po bull frog. Apart from that, we ordered the kung po chicken, stir fried eggs with black fungus, yaw mak and salted egg yolk prawns. We ordered too much for just the 2 of us but surprisingly we managed to finish everything. The kung po bull frog was really spicy because there were quite a lot of dry chillies and spices in it. Eventhough the bull frog was really smooth and juicy, the kung po flavour was really overpowering thus I can’t taste the natural sweetness from the bull frog itself. Despite the spiciness, the dish really open up my taste buds and tasted really good.

The kung po chicken tasted good too, but I prefer the kung po bull frog more. The stir fried eggs with black fungus was really flavourful! The eggs were light and fluffy and complemented the black fungus really well. That dish was really affordable too! Only RM 8 for such an appetising dish!! The salted egg yolk prawns was another dish that we enjoyed as well. The prawns were huge and very fresh! The dish had just the right amount of salted egg yolk flavour and it was a finger licking good dish!

It was a scrumptious and satisfying meal and I would definitely come back here again!
