Tonkatsu by Ma Maison Smile Jan 13, 2016

If you’re in the mood for something healthy but fried at the same time, Tonkatsu is your go-to destination. However it is non halal, as they serve succulent pork loins and fillets.
You must be wondering, how does fried food equates to heathy food? The reason being is that they serve a generously huge amount of salad (shredded cabbages) with really tasty salad dressing. I’m not a fan of salads but the salad is really good (if you put sufficient dressing or else it will just taste like any other ordinary cabbage).

I ordered the Rosu Katsu Set which costed RM 25.90. Rosu in Japanese means pork loin. You can also go for the Hire Katsu Set which is pork fillet which costs RM2 more than the pork loin. (RM 27.50). My friend on the other hand ordered their homemade katsu curry which costed around RM 27.90. To me I think the price was reasonable because their pork was really succulent!

Their deep fried pork loins was really thick and juicy!! The pork doesn’t taste dry at all! Usually deep fried food tend to be dry after some time but this pork loin definitely won’t! My friends and I were busy taking photos of the food and so our food were left on the table for some time. Even after the photo taking the pork was still moist and flavourful.

All sets come with rice, miso soup and shredded cabbage on the side. The best part is, the rice, cabbage and miso soup with pork (known as tonjiru) are refillable!! I saw lots of people refiling their cabbage and miso soup and I myself refilled my miso soup several times. The miso soup was not diluted at all!! It must be the pork doing its magic. Everything taste better with pork doesn’t it? As for the rice, you can choose either plain steamed rice or multi grain rice. Go for the multi grain rice you’re opting for a healthier choice. Aha, this is what I meant by heathy food!

Overall the food was good and the restaurant was really nice and has a Japanese feel upon entering. (Clearly because it is a Japanese-French style restaurant)Food there

Frog Porridge! Smile Mar 31, 2016

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Porridge

Since my family didn't know what to eat for dinner, we decided to just have porridge at Tasty Porridge! This restaurant is my favourite to-go place when I feel like having some bull frog! This porridge place is always packed with people during dinner times because the food here is just too good!! We ordered a kung po frog and kung po pork slices because kung po food goes really well with plain white porridge!!
The kung po pork and frog dish both cost RM11 each. The frog dish was meant for a person as it contained one whole frog. However, I would like to share with my dad because the portion was relatively huge. One thing I like about this place is that you get to put as much as fried shallots and olive oil as you like on your plain porridge.

Lunch at a lovely cafe  Smile Mar 31, 2016

My best friend came back from US for her semester break and we decided to catch up over some good food at a lovely cafe. After a short debate, we decided to have lunch at Upstairs Cafe! I’ve heard from some of my friends that the food there was good so I decided to give it a try!
We ordered their daily special which was only RM9.90 only!!! The 3 of us had chicken arrabiata pasta! The pasta was really good, the seasoning was just right and the flavours were on point! Not to mention the price, the dish was considered cheap for such a lovely cafe! The portion was just right as well. I would definitely recommend this place for friends to gather and have some good and affordable food.

Friendship Restaurant Smile Mar 30, 2016

It was the first week of classes and finally it was our long awaited lunch break after 2 hours of lectures. We decided to have lunch at Friendship Restaurant since it has been so long since we last had lunch there. I ordered pan mee dry and my friend ordered butter chicken rice.
The butter chicken rice was really good I would always order that when I have lunch here. For RM7, you’ll get a few pieces of chicken with thick and creamy butter chicken served with white rice. I wished there was more chicken because sometimes the portion will be very small. However, today I felt like having some pan mee so I ordered the pan mee instead. The noodles were chewy but the flavour wasn’t there for me. I wished it would have more sauce and more flavourful. One plate cost RM5.50 and I think it is okay for pan mee.

Home of Original Sarawak Noodles Smile Mar 28, 2016

My dad decided to have pan mee for lunch at our usual place, which is the Face to face noodle house. Since I don’t feel like eating pan mee, I decided to try out their traditional Sarawak noodles which apparently is more famous than their chilli pan mee.
I had the traditional Sarawak noodles which cost around RM7 and it tasted quite good!! I love how chewy and smooth the noodles were and I like how flavourful the pork was. My dad on the other hand had the Loh Pan Mee which was around RM6.50. He said it tasted really delicious as the gravy wasn’t very thick and had the right consistency. I ordered their passion fruit tea as well which was RM4.50. It wasn’t as sweet as I like and I wouldn’t order it again. But overall the noodles tasted good!
