ABC-Acme Bar& Coffee Smile Dec 18, 2015

Sizzling brownies? How cool?! Ever since Acme Bar & Coffee introduced its signature dessert-Sizzling Brownies, it started to spread like wildfire in town. As an active instagramer,I decided to head to there instead of my usual high tea spot to catch the trend.

The name itself through me off because it's so funny. I would just make my life easier to name it as ABC.

Acme Bar & Coffee is located at the ground floor of The Troika. Despite of the small signboard it had, you won’t miss the restaurant as the breathtakingly stunning interiors literally lightened up the whole building.Surprisingly finding parking here was very easy, unlike the other buildings in KLCC area. It had a whole basement for guest parking.

I've always wanted to see what the craze on sizzling brownies all about was. The hot plate kinda small. The brownie served in a sizzling hot pan with a scoop of oreo ice cream on top giving you the perfect combo. Frankly speaking I could barely taste the Oreo ice cream itself with a mouthful of choco. Get you camera ready! The show started when the sinful chocolate was poured over the brownies! There you are the Sizzling Brownie! Deliciousness at every mouthful! The chef knows how to stimulate our pleasure centre.

They had good coffee on menu as well. Free water btw.
Nonetheless, it's a gorgeous space to enjoy the company of good friends over good food! It can be pricey for some, yes, but overall the quality speaks for itself. I don't think I'll ever tired of coming back here for the brownies. Need more to say? Come and check it out by yourself!

Hunt The Fish- Aboong OK Dec 18, 2015
Categories : Korean | Café | Ice Cream / Froyo / Gelato | Desserts

The potential growth of artisanal ice cream industry in Malaysia for sure could not be underestimated. Now the industry has one more new comer- Aboong (a famous Korean Street food). Before Aboong opened in Malaysia, every time we want to beat the heat by indulging into ice cream inside a fish shaped cone, the thought would easily fly off to Korea. If you are actively on social media, you will know that now you can hunt the fish in SS15!

A cosy ambiance that will make you feel right at home.

For those that wonder what the fish shaped thing is, it was actually a waffle cone. Brilliant idea! The cute little fish has its mouth open stuffed with frozen yogurt and choices of red bean and custard. I must admit that the options of fillings into the fish belly was lesser than I expected. The sourness of the yogurt freezing your buds along with the hearty fillings to form the perfect combination for a nice refreshment. The stick was two chocolate-covered grapes that were surprisingly tasted well! You could hardly taste the grape itself with the chocolate on it. Definitely an interesting plus point!

Just a kind reminder! The crispy waffle cone came in fresh and hot and somehow it melted the ice cream! So eat fast before the ice cream goes all messy! Like this …..Korean dessert is no doubt the star attraction that’s increasingly casting a cold snap over the Klang Valley. Overall, despite a small menu, this place is great for hanging out .Worth a try. At least you don’t need to board a plane to get this.

Healthy Respite-Aether Cafe @TTDI OK Dec 16, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Western variety | Café | Pizza/Pasta | Burgers / Sandwiches

Aether Café was located at Pusat Kreatif Kanak-Kanak Tuanku Bainun Taman Tun Dr Ismail, aiming to whip up a robust appetite among health-conscious crowd. Aether café was an alternative for non-coffee lover that providing healthy respite. The location was quite hidden, striving to provide a nice sanctuary for hectic city people to relax. Be forewarned that it could take you some time to find the place. Take my word for it the home garden feeling would make everything worth.

The leafy view alone should be reason enough to drop by, but if you would like to enjoy something healthy and eye-catching food, this café is the place to go for.

There was nearly no meat on the menu. Expect both contemporary and classic creations, my favourite was probably the Apple Stack. The apple was carefully sliced for a presentable look, serving with peanut butter and strawberry jam to taste up your bud.

Other healthy choices including Open Banana Sandwich. Topping bananas with peanut butter, raisins and almonds, Aether Café introduced you a different way to enjoy the banana. Nice to see, nice to eat as well. Perhaps this is a good way to encourage the kids to eat more fruits.

For someone that strikes to have a balance between coffee and tea, Coffee Flower Tea is the one to complement.Despite the rainbow shots being their signature dish, I didn't quite enjoy it. Consisting of 6 juices in 6 test tubes range from carrot juice, pineapple juice, watermelon juice, orange juice, dragon fruit juice and green apple juice. Didn’t really taste much of it as it could finish in just one sip. Cute presentation, but RM10 was not worth for me.

It can be pricey for some, judging from the small portion, but overall the quality speaks for itself. If you were searching for healthier options to unwind yourself after a busy day, Aether Café should be on your first list to go.

Cast a cold snap- OWL Espresso OK Dec 06, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Western variety | Café | Desserts

OWL Espresso is a new student’s hangout perching on the first floor of Menara Rajawali, next to INTI International College Subang. A kind reminder to those who plan to have a visit, the cafe tends to get busier in the afternoon when students from the nearby Inti and Taylor's college drop by to have lunch. They do have varieties of options on the menu, ranging from wraps, sandwiches, cakes and coffee.

Caffé Bene is not the only alternatives in town. Out of the countless number of bingsu I have tried, so far I would say that OWL Espresso was my preferred version. Among all the bingsu cafés in town, the presentation of the ice itself could look alike, but if we took a close look, the shaved ice that OWL Espresso presented was in milk-based, which means a lot smoother and nicer with the sandy texture.

Topping with quality beans, pistachios and almonds, it was actually the Korean version of rice cake. I love sitting at the outside facing the night view of SS15. It presented a quiet and comfortable space to work on your own stuff.

Yoghurt & Fruit
Literally melt in your mouth while tasting it, fruity with watermelon, honeydew, ice cream, mango and nuts, aiming to serve you the healthiest bingsu ever.
Cookies &Cream
It was filling and starting to get messy the deeper you dig in. The portion was generous enough to share with friends.

Knowing that coffee is also a specialty here. Brewing with Marley Coffee, the long praised coffee bean from Mountain of Jamaica, my friend decided to put his bet on the hot cappuccino. Turned out it was so decent and strong.

So need to cast a cold snap? Don’t say I did not share ya.

Be Pied Away- The Crusty Nest  OK Dec 06, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Western variety | Café | Sweets/Snack

Pie lovers who seek for contemporary and classic creations will surely hit to Subang to uncover an understated gem like The Crusty Nest, a venue that's as fun as its name. Opening this year, coincidentally on the same neighbourhood as The Humble Pie Co. Noted that pie has slowly transformed into one of the current eating trend now.

It’s not too challenging to spot The Crusty Nest eye-catching signboard, located along side with the cosan coffee and brewyard café. Another café in SS15? That was my first thought when I noticed this cosy looking café. As what I always have in mind there just seemed to have endless café in SS15, what’s makes this standing out from the rest?

The interior is clean and modern with spacious seating. The presentation of the pies were all very enticing, finally we settled down with Jackie the Meat Pie and Chicken Mushroom Pie which were highly recommended by the staff /boss. Frankly speaking I have never encountered a café that would serve their customers on such a detailed basis. The passionate staff we met was interacting us politely and answering any questions we had without showing impatience at being delayed when ordering.

The savoury pie stuffed with minced beef & tomato sauce, topped with mashed tomatoes for a heartily filling. What makes these pies extra-delicious is its all served warm and fresh, adding a little bit extra deliciousness in pies.

The big C on the pie stands for Chicken, I guessed. Savoury and Tasty! Thumbs up! But I was expected that they could serve in a proper plate rather than in a box.

For the price they charged for the pies, there was a high level of expectation. However I see nothing special enough that will send me back here except for their incredibly friendly service. The pies were good, however, so far there were still staying far away from A Pie Thing’s standard. But I did give credit to their nice service, the boss was very eager to find out my feedback on the pie that I had, not many café had this kind of spirit though. Always striving to improve!
