Ayam Nasi Kuning at Chicago 7 Smile Jan 20, 2016

Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Steaks / Chops | Halal

In order to reach Malaysians from all walks of life, fusion is one of the vital elements in the food innovation, as we Malaysians are nothing less than the ‘Iron Eaters’.

Chicago 7 has served this Ayam Nasi Kuning (chicken cutlet with yellow rice) as the ‘food friendly’ choice to the diners who enjoy the western set but would not let go the local. However upon ordering, the order taker informed me that there was no yellow rice but the in house rice was to be served. While waiting for the yellow rice to be available hopefully by my next visit, let’s look at this one that I have today. The tasteful in house rice is steam rice that flavoured with grated carrot and corn pieces, coleslaw that decorated with raisins, fried chicken cutlet and the local favourite condiment, sambal. The coleslaw is either not very fresh or careless in preparation as the raisin has turned to be too soft and the cabbage tasted bitter. Luckily the sambal is very nice, when it is used to complement the fried chicken, there is no doubt to call it a Malaysian style.

Grill Fish Fillet Smile Dec 12, 2015
Categories : Western variety | Café | Steaks / Chops

We cannot expect much on the seasoning part to play a role in the course but how well the outer layer of the fillet being grilled and given condiment to. Sharing Downtown has successfully preparing the pogasius fillet (written in the menu) crispy out and juicy in. No excessive spice was used but the original fish taste is easily spotted.

As for the fried-food conscious person, you may opt for the mashed potato instead of chips. If you are concerned the unbalance of all-soft texture, the coleslaw has played a perfect role in bringing the crisp of the taste.

The coleslaw is a bit sweet and why not just makes use of the lemon slice provided if you don’t have a sweet tooth. Two slices of fillets is served in the course and this can really satisfy me the seafood lover.

Supplementary Information:
Enjoy the scenery.

Sooth your parched throat with the Izen Coffee and Wow Milk Tea presented by Tarot Café is just a joyful experience. The big glass is not only able to quench your thirst, it really works on the basis of gentle sweetness, relieving those with the health concern.

It is nice to be admired either of its glass (Izen Coffee) or of its contents (Wow Milk Tea, the floating grass jelly and milk jelly). Mocha lover would fall in love to Izen Coffee as the chocolate flavour is easily identified by the taste buds. To add more, the price will surprise you: pay less to get a thicker satisfaction.

Ako Kopi Smile Dec 12, 2015
Categories : Chinese | Kopitiam

What can a RM2.90 buy you with? It’s a cuppa Hai Nam Ako Kopi. Never realise that the coffee beans are actually fried in butter and it frightens you with the first sight with a clot of butter floating on your cup? Cautiously taking the first sip, then you realise it just enhances the aroma of the coffee, and melted your guard away. Together with the very Hainanese decoration in the restaurant, you can just lean against your chair and enjoy your cup nonchalantly.

Ako Kopi is the local well-known Kopi-O (black coffee without sugar) that added the butter on it, therefore, it is ideal to serve hot. As for the cappuccino goers, you probably want to unlock your imagination by letting the butter to represent the fancy foam that top the coffee, in which this one has been localise.

Pan Mee at 678 Corner Smile Dec 08, 2015

Categories : Malaysian variety | Café

As for the Pan Mee’s followers, the soup will determine whether they will come back for it or not. A good Pan Mee must have the broth that follows these criteria:

- the natural sweetness that due to the result of boiling the anchovies
- the thickness of the taste
- the aroma that brought by the fresh sweet leaves

Pan Mee at 678 Corner which has fulfilled the above criteria, making it always be in demand. This RM4.50 Pan Mee is served with an egg, fried anchovies, freshly picked sweet leaves and mince pork. The only fly in the ointment is of the stingy amount of the mince pork, which is nice to be served with the local favourite condiment – chilli and soy sauce. Find the store at Jalan Stutong, Kuching.
