Non halal Nasi Lemak OK Oct 17, 2015
Categories : Chinese | Stall / Warung | Nasi Lemak

Do you know Ann Nasi Lemak is one of the Openrice Top 10 Chinese Nasi Lemak? In fact, is that great that I thought. Perhaps, my expectation is too high.
The signature here is the Curry Pig Skin therefore I picked this together with Sambal Sotong. The overall coconut rice and sambal are ordinary nothing much to talk about, the condiment such as peanut, anchovies, hard boiled egg and cucumber are pretty standard.
Curry pig skin is very flavourful with thick coconut milk and curry which taste similar to curry laksa noodle. You can have a try if you like to eat pig skin.
As for the Sambal sotong is quite normal actually. Personally I feel that the sotong is a bit hard, should have cooked little bit longer.
By the way, this plate of nasi lemak cost me RM8.50. What says you?!

Cake and bun for tea time OK Sep 16, 2015
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Western variety | Sweets/Snack | Bakery / Cake / Kuih

BOW stands for Bake One Warm. I did not know the existence of this bakery in this area. I happen to had my breakfast opposite the bakery, hence just drop by have a look.
Simple and clean door front.

They offered pretty standard of selections such as buns, cake slices, pastry and cakes.

Month watering cake slices- Cheese cake, Green tea cake, Chocolate etc.

Ready made Whole cakes for customer's selection.

I have picked few variety of buns and cake for my afternoon tea.
Japanese Red Bean Bread RM3.20
The highlight of this bread is the filling- Red Bean and Muachi. The bun is too soft for me.

Sesame Ham Cheese Bun RM4.90
The bun is made with sesame powder, sort of healthy range.

Little bun RM3.90 for 3 mini croissaint

Cut Bear RM2.20, a chocolate filling bun with cute little bear face. So adorable! However, this bun was very soft and sticky when tou chew it. hmhm.... personally I dislike it.

Cheese stick RM2.50.
This is an ordinary cheese stick with sweet glazing on top.

Lastly, is the Orange Butter Pound Cake RM3.80 for 2 slices. Upon opening the lid, you can smell a beautiful orange aroma from the cake. While you will find bite size citrus bits in the cake as well. I like this cake as the sweetness is just right for me. This is recommended.

Verdict, perhaps to try the cake slices next time.

Nyonya Food OK Sep 05, 2015
Categories : Malaysian variety | Restaurant

My first visit to Little Nynoya at Pavilion today. It is Friday lunch time, manage to get a table easily without waiting. However, the restaurant is almost fully occupied.

While waiting for my foods, a glance of the interior of the restaurant.

Food pictures displayed on the wall.

I had a plate of Butter rice with Beef Rendang RM12.50. In fact, the butter rice was tasted like Flavoured Fried rice with egg. The Beef Rendang was cut in strips instead of chunks. Usually talking about rendang is chunk beef. Is nyonya Rendang suppose to be like that?! I have no idea. Taste wise is acceptable, beef strip was flavourful and tender but not spicy. The beef rendang was cooked together with long beans.
A little comment- I would suggest the Beef Rendang should come with white rice instead of butter rice reason being Beef Rendang is flavourful enough to goes well with white rice. And now I feel very thirsty after these conbination of both heavy flavoured duo.

My colleague had a plate of Nasi with Otak otak RM12.50. He commented about the Otak otak was very soft like pudding and the colour was in yellow rather than orangy colour. When I asked him about the taste, he just shaked his head.

The Seafood Penang Noodle RM12.50. The feedback received was just like a bowl of ordinary prawn noodle- nothing extraordinary.

Nasi Lemak RM10.90. The comment was "Okay lah".

Seafood Rice RM12.50. The feedback was the taste not as good as last time anymore.

The overall feedback I received for the lunch was negative. Even myself had tried it personally. I can say you can try other food in Pavilion since there are so many eateries in the mall itself which offers you at that kind of pricing. Good luck!

Ordinary chicken rice OK Aug 21, 2015

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood | Noodles

I have never came across this restaurant before, I think it has been opened for 2 years. The restaurant is located at the corner of first floor Pavilion KL. My colleague recommend me to come here for lunch.
I was there around 12.45pm and the restaurant was 70% occupied. There are ala carte and set lunch for you to choose from.

The set lunch is from RM10.80 & above. I'm hungry today therefore I have ordered Set C which consist of Roasted chicken, Rice, Bean sprout, soup and Herbal tea. Alternatively, you can opt for Steam chicken instead of Roasted chicken.

After waited for 15mins, the foods are served.

First, I want comment about the rice, soft and fluffy. Soup is rich and the bean sprout is little bit of salty immersed in soy sauce. As for the Roasted chicken, is too raw for me and you can see the bone is bloody. I do understand that shorten the cooking time will leave the chicken flesh smooth and soft. However, I dislike to see the bloody bone and I feel that the meat is not well cooked. Therefore, I will take half and leave another half portion behind.

Verdict, this is a plate of ordinary chicken rice. Nothing great to shout about. If you like something simple, perhaps you can try this.

Super ordinary flavour OK Aug 18, 2015

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Noodles

I did not know the existence of this restaurant until I saw the article about Top 10 Wanton Mee in Openrice. This shop is one of the Top 10. I'm not Wanton Mee lover however I will purposely make a trip to try if the shop is stone throws away.
It was a saturday afternoon at 3.30pm, the shop was still filled with 90% customers around this hour. Hmhm... business is good anyway.
This is a Wanton Mee specialty shop. Thus, no other noodle are available accept you can opt for Roasted pork for topping. As for side dish, Fried dumpling is available here. Whatever it is, I always like the classic Char Siew Wanton Mee.
As usual, drinks are always come first. I opt for Barley Kosong (RM1.50). Thick with barley sunk at the bottom.

Surprisingly, they will serve the wanton soup before the noodle. Usually will come together with the noodle. To avoid the soup being turn cold, then just taste the soup first, something light with tinch of white pepper. I like the Wanton, it was good because the taste is my own liking. Not too overcooked and it is just right for me.

Here comes the Wanton Mee (RM5.50), I always first eat the Char Siew before the noodle. Hmhm....nothing special. It does not has the melt in your mouth effect. Perhaps they are not famous for the Char Siew though.
Let's try the noodle. The noodle is not as springy as I thought. Taste wise is just too ordinary, the sauce does not taste sweet like what we call Char Siew sauce which is thick and sweet. My god, kind of dissapointed! Perhaps I have put too high expectation on it. To me, is just an ordinary plate of noodle available at most of the coffee shop NOT specialty shop.
