Mc Donald's new launched burger Cry Jul 21, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Western variety | Café | Halal | Sweets/Snack

This is the first time I writing a review for a fast food restaurant because McDonalds recently had launched the new product Grand Spicy Chicken Mc Deluxe (RM10.85+). I was attracted by the advertisement, so I decided to try it, but it's quite disappointing me. It didn't surprise me as advertised. Its taste is not spicy at all. It's just almost the same like the original Spicy Chicken Mc Deluxe. It just added a slice of cheese, tomato and few slices of onions. Besides that, the burger that I ate at this branch is a little bit burnt and overcooked. The meat is so dry and not tender at all.

Overall, the taste is a little bit poor compared to other branches that I ate before (maybe only for this food). The ambiance here is quite nice though.

大富贵 MahaMewah Seafood OK Jul 21, 2013
Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood

Its name in Chinese is 大富贵. It's near to ICity, but its location is quite out-of-the-way though. If it's not having promotion online, I won't know about it. It's not hard to reach if you have a GPS.

There are only 2 tables of customers when we reached there. 7 of us ordered a Salad Prawn (Big - RM60). The prawns skins are peeled off and fried a little, then served with their special salad sauce. The salad sauce is mixed with many fruits, like pineapple, peach and etc making the sauce more sour to enhance the appetite. The only drawback is that the prawns are not hot enough. It would be perfect if the prawns are very hot and served together with the cold salad.

We also ordered a Salted Egg Mantis Prawns (RM30). This dish is very delicious. The size of the mantis prawns are quite big. So after being fried, it is still quite crispy outside yet we can still taste the flesh of it. The saltiness of the dish isn't seasoned by lots of salt but with the generous amount of salted egg, causing the dish to be so aromatic.

For the meat dishes, we ordered a Wine Chicken (RM25). This is quite poor, they are throwing whatever part of chicken into it and
overcooked the chicken, affecting the tenderness of it. We also ordered a TongPoh Pork Ribs 东坡肉排 (RM38). It's hardly found TongPoh Pork Ribs but not TongPoh Pork which means that they are using the pork ribs part to cook in TongPoh style. The taste is not bad. The drawback for this dish is that, they cut the meat on the spot using a scissors, affecting the appearance of the dish.

The Shark Fin Soup (RM80) for around 7 people's portion. The taste is just normal, but the crab meat inside are quite big in size and quite a lot. Omelet with Shark Fin 桂花翅 (RM40) just tastes normal.

We ordered a Tilapia Fish (RM62-Around 1.7kg), the staff recommends us the Asam Style Steam Fish. The fish is fresh and the flesh are quite firm yet still tender. The sauce is quite nice too, not too sour yet so tasteful. Quite recommended to try it.

Then I ordered a Grilled Stingray (RM45) even though I had ordered a fish, because I read a review saying that this dish is very nice, but after tasted it, I strongly doubt with the taste of that person. It's so salty that I can't even swallow it.

I also ordered a Abalone Slice Homemade Bean Curd (RM20). The bean curd is quite soft and smooth but the abalone slice are quite hard, maybe boiled for too long.

Overall, we only pay RM215 instead of RM415 using vouchers.

Papa John's Pizza OK Jul 21, 2013
Categories : Western variety | Restaurant | Pizza/Pasta | Halal

If not mistaken, Papa John's Pizza is the largest pizza company in Malaysia other than Pizza Hut and Dominos. It has quite a number of branches over Malaysia, especially Selangor and KL area.

During lunch time, I ordered a Personal All the Meats Pizza (RM11.90++). The considerate staff reminds me that there is beef inside. The ingredients are quite a lot compared to Pizza Hut's personal size pizza. However, in term of taste, Pizza Hut's is still better. The meat are over-marinated and the sauce is too sour for me. The portion of cheese is quite generous, as we can see from the photo how springy is the cheese which usually cannot be found on Pizza Hut's personal size pizza.

Of course a personal size pizza is not enough for me. So I ordered a Cheesestick (RM7.50++). The size is same as a personal size pizza.

It's served with 2 types of condiments, Special Pizza Sauce and Special Garlic Sauce. The cheesestick is perfectly complemented with the sauces, especially the Garlic Sauce.

A personal pizza isn't really enough for me, but with the extra cheesestick, it's too full. Overall, the taste is quite not bad, and the price is quite reasonable too.

All food are subject to 10% service charge and 6% government tax.

士林台湾小吃 Smile Jul 21, 2013

Categories : Taiwanese | Stall / Warung | Steaks / Chops | Noodles | Sweets/Snack

Its name is actually comes from a place at Taiwan called 士林 which is famous with night market. It's basically selling the food that the Taiwan night market selling. It has already opened a lot of branches over Selangor and KL area. This is one of the branch at AEON Bukit Tinggi.

The customers here are quite a lot when I visited there. This is a self-service restaurant.

The choices of food of this restaurant is quite less but all are quite nice and the price are quite reasonable too. The food that I must order here is their XXL Crispy Chicken 超大炸鸡排(RM6.50). It's chicken breast that cut into thin pieces and coated with some batter then fried. It's very tender even though using chicken breast. We can choose either wan spicy or original powder. I always prefer little spicy powder because if too much of the spicy powder is added, it will has some bitter taste.

Of course not to forget their Oyster Mee Sua 蚵仔麵線 (RM6.50). It is not cooked upon ordered. They only add some oysters and serve it after customers order it. The oysters are very fresh. Then they add in some vinegar and coriander without asking the customers. As for myself, I can't accept the smell of coriander at all.

I always like to order V-Soy (RM2.50) as drinks whenever I eat at here. Its bean taste is quite pure, unlike other brands soy bean milk.

Sakae Sushi OK Jul 21, 2013
Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Seafood | Ramen/Udon/Soba | Private Party

We were looking for a affordable sushi restaurant to celebrate my bro's birthday. I heard Sakae was not bad other than Sushi Zanmai (around this price range). We can apply for membership (RM20) and use it on the spot. As a member, we can collect 50% of our total nett spending as credit for future use during birthday month.

There were quite many people that time, when we went in, the staff was cleaning the table with a cloth having very strong musty odor making us feel nausea. This strongly needs improvement.

This restaurant provides menu in Ipad instead of printed menu. This might be convenience to some customers but not for all because we have to take turn to view the menu. They should provide both menu instead.

We ordered a Unagi Bento(RM20.90++) for parents as they prefer Chinese-like cuisine. I think the food aren't prepared fresh because the Unagi is quite dry. They should have more sauce to eat with the rice.

The Chicken Teriyaki Bento (RM10.90++) is still ok but the tenderness of chicken is quite tough.

I ordered a Tempura Moriawase(RM13.90++) which literally means chef's selection on what's fresh on that day. There's eggplant, capsicum and carrot inside.

I also ordered a few plates of fried Scallops (RM3.99++). It's served hot and the scallops are fresh and well fried.

We ordered a few of Sakae Chawanmushi (RM3.99++). It's served hot, the taste is not bad too, but just a little bit too salty.

We can get the sushi from the sushi belt, but instead we ordered from the menu to have the freshest food. But quite many of the sushi here are quite disappointing me, especially the Salmon Sushi. The salmon is cut too thin, and hence we can't really taste the salmon. For the Tempura Sushi, the batter of the tempura is too thick, affected the texture of the tempura. What I don't like is that the staff places the two plates of same sushi onto one single plate just to make their job easier. Some other sushi are just normal. I ordered a Spicy Salmon Mayo. This is quite poor as the spice has overwhelmed the freshness of salmon. The Oyster Mentai is quite not bad, the oyster is fried but maintaining the freshness of the oyster. Member can order one plate of Ika Mentai at RM1 instead RM7.99. This dish is not bad. It's fresh squid with mentai on top.

Sashimi is a measurement for a a standard of a Japanese Restaurant. We ordered a few plates of Salmon Sashimi (RM9.99++) . The sashimi here are quite poor too, as it's cut too thin.
