Giant Macaron  Smile Jan 29, 2012

Categories : Western variety | Sweets/Snack | Bakery / Cake / Kuih

Delectable by Su is a bakery which sells a variety of cupcakes, cakes and cookies. Apart from that, they also customize cakes for special occasions. The store in The Gardens is one of the first physical shops and I went there recently to try out their giant macarons. There were four different flavors sold and each one was unique on its own.

I bought the salted chocolate macaron which is RM10. When they say giant macaron, it was huge compared to normal macarons found outside. The giant macaron was roughly the size of my fist. The pink macaron had a chocolate filled core which was very sweet. By pairing the chocolate cream with salt, the sweetness was balanced out. Initially, the sweetness of the chocolate core will fill your mouth then the saltiness will gradually wear out the sweetness.

Sinfully Delectable ~ Smile Jan 29, 2012

I saw this cute little store beside Times Bookstore at Pavilion and went in to have a look. It must have been my lucky day as the shop keeper told me that cakes and pastry on the display window was on 50% discount as they had more than seven thousand likes on their facebook page and wanted to give back a little something back to their fans.

She recommended me the "seven sins chocolate". How could anyone say no to chocolate/ chocolate- flavoured pastry. The whole process from untying the ribbon and opening the container was exciting, just like opening your birthday present. In the container, there were two different layers of chocolate and a layer of cocoa powder on top. The chocolate mousse was smooth and not too sweet while the chocolate cake tasted like milk chocolate. The layer of cocoa powder balanced out the sweetness of the chocolates with its bitterness. The chocolate buttons used to decorate the cake were crunchy and sweet. Having everything in one mouthful was really sinfully delicious, as differents textures and tastes blends well with each other.

Messy Yumminess XD Smile Jan 31, 2012

A few years ago, I would say it would be hard to come across a restaurant selling pork ribs but these days I would say it’s hard to find a restaurant selling good pork ribs. I came across Morgonfield’s during one of my quest searching for good pork ribs. Morganfield’s pride themselves in serving signature pork ribs slow-cooked in hickory wood and slathered in hickory flavoured barbeque sauce. The ribs were smooth and came off smoothly when you bite into it. The hickory sauce was a bit too sourish for my liking but it went well with the ribs and I enjoy dipping the crunchy fries with the sauce. Beware though; it will cause a mess when eating the ribs.

Spicy pan mee, hate it or like it, it will still be here to stay and more of them are popping up like mushrooms after a rain. Over the weekend, I had the chance to try; I would say so myself, the spiciest pan mee I had ever taken in my life. (Its rated only the second spiciest pan mee in the world by the shop)

The pan mee is mixed with chili oil which makes it flaming hot. From the very first bite till the moment you expel it from your body you can feel the burning effects of the chili oil. My mouth went numb the moment the mouthful of pan mee entered shocked and I could literally feel it burning my lungs and stomach. I gave up after the second bite and my face had turned obviously pink from the effects of the chili oil.

Fret not though; the shop also sells one of the best wantan mee i ever tasted.lol The best part of the dish is the char siew which is has the right amount of fats which melts in your mouth. The meat was tender as well and not too dry. The only downside was the dumplings has more skin than actual fillings.sad

There are times where I enjoy eating the food that I need to cook myself. For example like this chicken with egg and onion. When the food is presented in front of you, you don't know what to do. Should you wait till the egg is cooked or you can just simply stir fried it. Because the hot plate is quite hot. After you fried it, you can just eat the chicken. The chicken taste is very sweet. The texture is quite similar to the minced meat.
